Im a guitar player who's thinking of buying a banjo, but for some reason i just couldn't wrap my head around what was going on with the clawhammer pattern of plucking and strumming. This was the first time it finally clicked and made sense to me. Whether it was the unique perspective, or your relaxed playing style, thank you!

I listen to a lot of duper technical fast complex strings players. Then Phoebe shows up in my feed and reminds me of simpler days. Bravo. Don't become a super duper showoff too fast and you did actually nail it, look up wabi-sabi.
Phoebe has a magic wand. I see I need to catch up with you. Fell asleep during the 20 minutes video, it was so relaxing.

Do You ever play with other musicians? One of the best ways to learn is to show up at a barn dance, banjo in hand, and ask to play behind the band. They will be happy to oblige. A good banjo player is worth their weight in gold. Your sense of time is rock solid. Some fiddler is gonna love You. The banjo player’s job is to be the band’s metronome. (Fiddlers can’t keep time, to save their souls.) One of the pure joys in Life, is playing with others. Good way to learn tunes, too.
Hearing you speak is so strange. Ever since I found this channel I've been like "Hey, this kid is going places." Then you've been speaking more in recent videos, and I'm starting to think you're not a kid at all! Your voice is very mature.
Also, these are more Daily Dose of Phoebe, if anything. Your quirky, positive attitude is such a vibe; and that room is killer. The banjo is just sugar coating.

I'm curious about your banjo, Phoebe. What make is it? What's with the knobby thing on your 4th string? Etc...
excellent tune and playing. I've been hesitant to mention this, but your recordings seem to have noise reduction on them which hurts the banjo sound. It sounds a bit distorted when I can tell you've got a very clean tone.
Not a big deal, but something to consider to get your recordings to the next level. Might be as easy as a checkbox in the recording software.

You shake your head, near the end, but, you're wrong - you need some Roy Clark. If you have to squeeze a slide out of a banjo neck that suddenly twisted like a damn snake, let Roy show ya how to wrangle it for that perfect ending. Yes - roots to old Appalachia... Thile and all them, touch it all the time. That being said, Clark.
Now, for best album, for You, ever? Easy - Old and In the Way. Finest bluegrass album ever created, simple as that. The version with the art cartoon, not the brown version. Anything else is a waste of time for You until after that.
