    Perfect setup for a small Jon fishing boat. Don't have to mix oil and gas plus less pollution to the lake since the exhaust isn't pumping nasties in the water. When storing motor make sure you drain the gas out of tank and run the motor to use up gas in carb, store it dry. This way it will start and
    run good next time you use it. Wish we had more lakes here, I would have same rig. One thing I would do for a backup is make sure you take some oars with you just in case, LOL. Thanks for the Vids. :)

    The lower unit is water cooled but the engine itself is air cooled.
    Also, although it doesn't say, you need to remove the propeller and the cap over the drive and fill with 80w gear oil. Otherwise you'll destroy the gears and the engine will go no where after a few uses.

      Exhaust ports just above waterline. Water comes out there if no hub exhaust. If hub exhaust it comes out both places. The tattle tale is just a tee fitting in water line to let you know it's pumping. It does clog up, freeze when cold yet still be pumping. Just look at exhaust ports...
      And yes. Air cooled should not be ran out of the water. Gear case will heat up.

    Great engine, a lot quieter than the 2 stroke. The white stuff on the aluminum is corrosion, the same as rust. I would spray the aluminum with clear enamel paint to stop the corrosion. I would replace all the rusted washers with stainless steel. I would remove the muffler, clean off the rust and spray it with high temp paint and put a plastic plug in the muffler to keep rain out when storing it.

The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

    Don't worry about the plastic propeller, it'll self-clearance itself. When I was 16 and lived in Brandon, Florida I bought a 14' fiberglass flats boat and it had a 7.5 HP Chrysler long shaft sailboat engine on it that ran decently. I would take it out of the Tampa Shrimp Docks (the old Seabreeze Restaurant), Bullfrog Creek, and the TECO station, and my friends and I would just fish all the time. I got the boat and trailer for $1,500 and it was worth every penny. I would put the ears on it and flush it out after every run. I haven't had a boat since because I live near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and although I would love to have a Jonboat for running around the rivers with my boys and wife, it's easier said than done. If that Chongchee (no racism or ethnic BS intended, it's a play on the brand name of the engine) engine ran decently and was reliable it would be just fine for a small 12' jonboat. Don't expect to go fast, but it'll do just fine for a little river boat with light current.

    How’s it going? Thanks for doing this review on the inexpensive little outboard!! I was actually impressed!! Not bad for the money. Seems like with a little know how and tinkering you could easily make this yourself with a good weed whacker. Definitely seems like a good way to get around a pond or lake and not have to worry about batteries. I’m sure you can go quite some time on little gas. Thanks for sharing this video! I just happened to come across your channel and like it ! I’m a fisherman from upstate NY. I mostly fresh water fish for trout . Big brown and rainbow trout at the Ashokan resavoir, one of NYC water supply resavoirs. It has an upper and lower basin divided by a set of gates that regulates the flow from one basin to the next. Early spring I’ll usually fish the Hudson River for striped bass. In my profile picture I’m holding one I caught two years ago, 42 lbs 441/2 inches long. Their only in the river for about a month and a half, they come up to spawn along with the herring. We catch the live herring using a hookless rubber minnow with a 4oz jig head and swim it in circles to attract mating herring. They will follow it right into your net. Some people cut them up and chunk fish, but then you could catch catfish or eel’s so I use a whole live herring which almost guarantees when your drag starts singing, you have a striper on the other end. It’s a much different experience reeling in a big striper from shore in a tidal river than from a boat in the river or ocean. I’ve gone on many charters for striper and blues and never caught one nearly as big as I have in the river. Your arm is burning by the time you get them in. But nothing compares to tuna fishing!! That felt like having a small vehicle on the other end of your pole and it took 8 hours to get to where we were fishing, you see nothing but water for hours and at 2am we arrived at a spot I. The middle of nowhere. There was 4 or 5 other boats not far away. It was pouring and the boat would disappear into giant swells, out of about 10-15 guys only me one other and the mate’s were fishing. Everyone else was extremely sick and couldn’t stand let alone fish. I was young at the time and paid a lot of money so I was going to fish every minute possible and I did. It was a great trip until I got off the boat. Then it was my turn to be sick, after standing strong, fishing and partying with the mates. Once I got off the boat I felt like I was rocking for 3 days. It was horrible, I’ve been on many different trips since and never had that happen again. Have you guys ever fished up north anywhere? Ever been to NY? Where are you guys fishing and what do you normally fish for? I look forward to seeing what your channels all about!! Thanks again, take care, stay safe and healthy!!

I own motors from the earliest outboards available from British era all the way to a fully electric 200 hp outboard on my bass boat. I have never run into a air cooled motor with an impeller pump that was not used to cool the engine block. I would love to know what brand would waste the time to try to cool exhaust and for what reason they felt the need to cool the exhaust. Water pumping to cool the expelling motor vapor seems pointless. The only reason a motor pumps water is to cool the block and I am sure the model you are speaking of did the same thing. FYI ya'll... that powdery residue on the engine is a sign oxidation is occuring and is how aluminum rusts. Same process happens to iron, copper, etc... 'cept different metals, of course, produce different colored rusts. Will be interesting to see how bad the aluminum block and other metals get on the engine after 6 -12 months "if" left out in the elements and left untreated(?) Great video, btw, here's a couple ideas for future videos...1) Run a noise/decibel check of the engine via a smartphone & dB/Decibel meter App, and 2) Try installing two engines a/k/a twin 2-strokes & let's see how well it works.

    Hey dude a boat trailer rope winch would be awesome at your little boat launch. Mount it to a post about a trailer length and a half past the crest of the slope (just to give you some working room) Put a clip on end. Then just crank the boat up and down. You can get a lot of 1100lb (the "double paracord" style stranded/sleeved cord) on one of those spools. Tie/snap the rope to the handle of your dolly and smooooth easy recovery.
    My god I miss snapper. I've not been to FL in a few years. We always tent camp and fresh snapper breaded and fried in an old wok over cheap firewood (you must have the mosquitoes and sand fleas for ambience) is the best fish youll ever eat.

    You don't want to use marine engine oil in an air cooled engine. Air cooled engines run much hotter thus marine oil won't be viscous enough at those higher temps. Better to get normal lawnmower oil.

    I have a 1970’s Clinton 700 2 stroke. The power head is air cooled, but still has a impeller to cool the exhaust. Seems an odd design choice, but since there is no water jacket to collect sediment, it can be used in dirtier water than a straight water cooled engine. No need to winterize either. It’s an uncommon engine and parts are hard to come by, so this eBay 4 stroke could be a viable option.

  • @greggtilghman6349
    @greggtilghman6349 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Here in North Carolina, we break the shrimp in half, only put half the shrimp on the hook and catch fish. They'll smell it and eat it rather it's alive or not. The tail will catch fish just as good as the head. When you hook the tail, that only has the hook in half the shrimp and they are going to eat the furthest end, it would be nice if they swallowed the shrimp whole but it's often not the case. Looks like you're feeding half shrimp to the fish.

    Thanks for your checks. Now I have it! I have sent back a motor with unknown prop blocking. I didn't have it unused. But in the water near the shore the motor got a stroke after nearly 4 hours use in all, engine running but propeller off. This could be the explanation! Later it was moving again but I don't trust the engine or the drive shaft or deflection.
