    My friend came one day gave me your recipe and told me can you make that for me its my favorite cake. I never hear about that cake. I am German but i was married to a Puerto Rican man. He never told me about that cake. So i made it follow your direction and it came out beautifully. I had a hard time to do the caramel. Got it now. I made it so many time now and everybody who eat it loves it. Thank you. I am following you.

    Thank you so much! I just watched another video and place the caramel, cake mix and then the flan mix. But when she flipped it was the cake on the bottom. I know is an error on that one. Yours is really easy to follow.

    Hola Daya, thank you for this recipe! I love our Puerto Rican food. I’ve always made flan in various forms but never Flancocho. I found your video yesterday and just made my flancocho. I didn’t add the 1 cup of sugar in the flan so my fingers are crossed.
    I’ll update my post once it finishes cooking in 40 minutes.

    I love your recipe and I’ll def be making it this week. Question: should I wait for the flancocho to cool off before I flip it over?

    • @CookingWithDaya
      @CookingWithDaya  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I totally forgot to mention that! Let it cool to the touch and then place it in the fridge, I usually do it overnight. Once you know you will be serving it, take it out of the fridge and run a knife on the outside of it to loosen it from the pan, then flip it and let it sit in the pan like that for a few minute to let the caramel and the cake/flan to loosen and then carefully lift the pan.

    If I don’t have evaporated milk can I use regular milk?

    • @CookingWithDaya
      @CookingWithDaya  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! All you have to do is boil your milk and let it cool off. You need 3.25 cups for the recipe so put 4.50 cups (it will reduce when it’s boiling) in a saucepan and boil and stir and in about 10 min. It should be done. Let it cool and it’s should be the same as evaporated milk! Hope this helps!

    Is it okay if I don’t wrap it with foil?

    • @CookingWithDaya
      @CookingWithDaya  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think so. The foil will keep the moisture in and it won’t brown the flan on the top. For thanksgiving I forgot to put the foil and it was browning and getting almost burnt!

    I tried to make this with brownie mix and didnt work! At least I learn brownie mix is too dense for this (which seems obvious now). I messed up a few parts of the process but overall it was a good tasting flan. Will try this again but adding cream cheese

    Nena 8 huevos ? Para una mezcla de flan? El flan a a saber a huevos nada más

    • @CookingWithDaya
      @CookingWithDaya  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Eso es tu opinión. Muchas recetas dicen 12 huevos y alguno dicen 6. Para mi no me gusta el flan muy aguado, so yo pongo 2 huevos más para que eso no pase. Yo siempre hago mi flans así y siempre mi dicen que está rico. Todas recetas son diferentes. Por eso que los americanos dicen “it’s not a one size fits all”. Si no te gusta mi receta no tienes que decir tu opinión, puedes nada más irte de mi página y seguir con tu vida.
