These parts of the city aren't even the worst, but there's also a lot of rejuvenation going on all over Buff-town. It's just like most other cities, and I'm proud to say I live here.
Buffalo is Malibu compared to Milwaukee but you're right they do look very similar with styles of houses. They were both affluent areas of upper middle class up until the 60s-70s when the national economy changed both respective city's landscape and these areas became dangerous hoods. Charlie needs to do Sherman Park Milwaukee where all those riots were last year. It's a top 5 bad neighborhood nation wide
Slotten Sherman park is straight hood but it really doesn't look terrible. It's an example of a once wealthy neighborhood that fell apart in the 70s. If Charlie ever comes to Milwaukee I hope he goes down Atkinson, fond u lac, burleigh, locust, center, keefe, 27th, 35th, etc.
teachmehowtobucky23 Fond du Lac Ave, Burleigh and Capitol kind of outline the bad parts. Occasionally I'll take a short cut off the highway by taking fond du Lac Ave and if I'm feeling really ballsy I'll stop at the Checkers. Definitely wouldn't leave the car for any reason
Slotten, I've been to both Milwaukee and Buffalo. Buffalo is worse. If you think Buffalo is Malibu, you've never been there!! The video only shows a tiny portion of Buffalo.
Some people might hate on CharlieBo313 for kinda glorifying, or a the least exploiting people's crappy situations but living in these areas all my life I see some good in just recording deep, African American hoods. Even living in Detroit/Flint, Michigan city limits most my life, it isn't uncommon for white folks to never come around the blacks side of town and vice versa. To the point that just driving through on major roads is dangerous, and makes you stick out like a sore thumb. Either you are driving through to stare at the hood or you are coming for drugs. Charlie gives curious teens a way to stare without being in danger.
Good point, although unsaid are the people who, due to the jobs they have, MUST go into these hoods. 30 years of it in Chester and Philly. Charlie does it voluntarily, I am white, I had to so i keep my job. Mailmen, utility workers, teachers, nursing care, etc. I showed up at a job in south philly where there was still blood splattered over the whole staircase. Machete attack. The clients 5 year old daughter was traumatized. 1997, I could go on and on but I will not. He was there to steal the "BIG SCREEN TV"
The Bronx is live no doubt, but things on the subway started getting better when they started to close off the last 4 train cars at night and pushed everyone up towards the front of the train.
Thank you CharlieBo for posting these. I've never been to any of these kinds of areas, I grew up in Upstate NY and luckily did not have to experience any of this. But your videos provide such a raw and unedited view into situations I only hear about but haven't had the chance to see until now. If I ever am blessed with the opportunity to help change things for these areas, I sure am going to try my hardest to. Just providing opportunity to these people and in these areas could really turn some of their lives around.
Buffalo wasn't always this way it use to be a beautiful city I now live in the suburbs, I grew up on the east side of Buffalo again beautiful place back in the day it's no longer safe and here's the problem no one there wants to clean up the streets an speak up they would rather live in fear it's such a shame
Buffalo has some of the greatest public assistance programs in the nation. There are many homeless shelters, detox buildings, Salvation Armys, and Boys and Girls Clubs. Not to mention all the housing for people with autism like SASI and Community Services. Kids Escaping Drugs is also an honorable mention. Most of these places accept donations
As a white guy from Depew (10 minutes away) I've driven through a few of these areas plenty of times, never had any issues or any more "danger" than I have had anywhere else. Remember that just because people are broke doesn't mean they're bad people.. I remember one time I had my Go-Pro on the roof of my car, and a random black dude started walking towards me.. My heart stopped, was he going to snag my go-pro and take off?! Nope, just wanted to bum a smoke off me since he saw me smokin' and said thank you a million times over when I threw him 3. As long as you don't go around throwing the N-word around, you're usually not gunna get too many problems, at least in my experience.
You need to get someone who knows the area seriously and go during the summer time at night or day just go to the correct neighborhoods and then do some interviewing because I'm from Buffalo this not it family
Before the video even began I was like “I know he’s gonna drive down Bailey”. Sure enough, first street. I live way out in the county but work downtown Buffalo, Broadway and Cypress, get out at 2:30am every night and drive through this area on my way out. Shits real interesting that time of night out there haha, so used to it I actually like it.
Cool video. I been to the Roc for the first time in 2015. I'm from NYC. It's hard to get to other distant parts of NYS cuz it's such a big state. Buffalo is almost 400 miles from NYC. Haven't been there yet. I want to go next year.
Nobody knows about us were the most dangerous city in ny according to the news and everyone else its sad but hoods on the west side dont look bad but its crazy not only the east
Thank u 4 shedding a lil light on my dark city. If you notice, we have here but violence and poverty. 17 month old and 54 year old killed in a shooting 7/1/18 r.i.p
Maybe you should move to North Buffalo or come out to the suburbs. Lots of opportunity. Even if you buy a cheaper house on Harlem, you're not far from very nice paying jobs
I grew up in Buffalo (Riverside). ALL of Buffalo looks like this! Edit your video to show street names and neighborhoods (South Park, Hertel Ave, Black Rock, etc.).
You drove right past my old girlfriend's house on Bailey. It's actually gone now as a fire destroyed it, but damn dude, what memories. Sadly, she passed away suddenly about nine years ago, but I appreciated this footage anyhow. Yep, indeed, these areas are NOT good places to be. Especially heading west down Broadway Avenue. ROUGH part of town.
Ignorance is bullet proof and psychological state acting as an impenatrable cloud that some people live in. The now "hoods"had been flourishing, industrious prized areas where men like my father worked hard to give his children fine living and privilege; also, spiritual identity of church and education. Our neighborhoods reflected that time of glory when NEVER during working hours would you see a MAN. The "little woman" my mother, was at home cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner taking pride in the family home. What else? Writing out the diary order for the milkman (eggs, orange juice, butter and cottage cheese). Halls bakery delivered, dry cleaning was picked up and delivered. My brothers belonged to the "Y" took part in lawful youth groups church based and wore custom made clothing. I had daddy's credit card, my own seamstress if I wanted a channel inspired suit, dance lessons and sorority membership. For goodness sake I was in that group of women who went to "finishing" school. Also after university undergrad, my peers and I completed graduate school. We moved out of BUFFALO away from short sighted lack of progress to places where super high paying jobs were common. That tier sadly passed away, my parents but they paved the way for me, and my family to have a moneyed, privileged and fruitful life. The inheritors of the tree-lined beautiful neighborhoods were different types of Black people with voucher/gifts from the federal government for everything. NEEDLESS to say that group-no father in the home were the Blacks who lived extremely different from my Black family. Outrageously sad. Charlie 313 documents little and amazingly has zero context. Is there a plan to change this continual swirl into the darkness of deprivation and ignorance or will we keep using these conditions as our personal carnivals and freak shows to make ourselves feel "good."
I remember I was at the Key Bank stadium and driving on Perry St trying to get on 190.It was like a ghost town,it looked like a condemned project building.

Not really much to see in this video, it is different from your other black hood videos, only thing this video, does have in common with the other Charlie videos, is his squeaky ass car..
You've gotten use to the action. My videos started off just showing abandoned houses and urban decay. This video is actually what I do. The action and the crimes being committed are an added bonus.
Hey Sick Boy! He is obviously working by showing your funky ass what high poverty stricken neighborhoods looks like, since you will never know.... Your view is putting bread in his pocket dumb dumb!!!
WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT PEOPLE CARE TO SEE THE BLIGHTED ROT AND DECAY OF BUFFALO? WHY DON'T YOU PROVIDE A VIDEO OF THE BEAUTIFUL PARTS OF BUFFALO TRULY WORTH SEEING?

I've seen vids from eight years ago of Buffalo showing a lot of broken-down abandoned houses; what you see here is an improvement since then.

This is the hood! Not with the old white lady walking across the street!
Why do people in buffalo say fire like "fyur" 😂😂
Buffalo hoods just have a lot of Poverty than Dangerous Neighborhoods
Not really much to see in this video, it is different from your other black hood videos, only thing this video, does have in common with the other Charlie videos, is his squeaky ass car..
You've gotten use to the action. My videos started off just showing abandoned houses and urban decay. This video is actually what I do. The action and the crimes being committed are an added bonus.
And by the way that is a work van. And a 2016 at that.
CharlieBo313 ok, a work van, first off, I am happy, to hear the word, work, and secondly , it still sounds beat to hell...
Why do you think I don't work ?
Hey Sick Boy! He is obviously working by showing your funky ass what high poverty stricken neighborhoods looks like, since you will never know.... Your view is putting bread in his pocket dumb dumb!!!
Looks just like Kansas City hood
WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT PEOPLE CARE TO SEE THE BLIGHTED ROT AND DECAY OF BUFFALO? WHY DON'T YOU PROVIDE A VIDEO OF THE BEAUTIFUL PARTS OF BUFFALO TRULY WORTH SEEING?
Charlie ,Any chance you could do Livernois AVE Detroit at night? 7/8 mile and dresden? let me know on your thoughts ,Keep up the good work and thank you
I have tons of Detroit videos. I have videos showing Livernois. You have to go on certain nights, some nights are dead and some have a lot going on.
CharlieBo313 could you tag me in one of that's possible? okay buddy that's fair enough ,What state are you based? I'm from UK
I live in Detroit. I have video of the 8mile Dresden area. I'll try to remember to do that in the next one from that area. I am out of town right now.
Deuteronomy 28. If you are Gods chosen and your forefathers disobeyed God, you should fit those curses to this day. Wake up, you're not black, you're Hebrews.
Pretty much what I remembered before I left in 1982.

4:29 An elderly white guy! He probably was born into this neighborhood, or moved in when it was still white, and saw it go through its decline and bottoming out, and its demographic change. I've seen vids from eight years ago of Buffalo showing a lot of broken-down abandoned houses; what you see here is an improvement since then.
