    Already aching for the snow to finish melting to start planning the cottage garden. I dug out part of a hill in the backyard last year and it's begging for lovely flowers. Got lots of inspiration from your flower beds.

    Wow, such a great garden! I particularly liked seeing the in-process shots to see how things have progressed!

      I always find those in-process shots to be the most helpful to other gardeners, so I wanted to be sure to include many! Thank you :)

    I started my very first veggie garden last year but I didn’t plant any flowers. I did plant poppies in a small pot but gifted it to my little nephew. It’s so nice to see the flowers and its whole plant. Now I have an idea what to expect when I plant them. I am planting cosmos, zinnias, calendulas, sunflowers, marigolds, nasturtium, hollyhock and celosia. Can’t wait for the blooms! Thanks and more power!!! - Zee, N. Cali zone 10a

    I really enjoyed this video. I garden in a warm climate but a warm, humid climate that gets a lot of rain in the summer months so I always look for gardener growing in warm climates to watch. I love the front garden beds. I grow more cut flowers like zinnias and dwarf sunflowers which is very different than the lovely cottage style beds you put in. I will definitely try that next season. There's something so whimsical about a variety of smaller flowers growing near each other in clumps to complete a garden bed. Looking forward to seeing more of your content.

    This is so awesome! Thanks for sharing all of your hard work. I loved learning all of the flower names! I hope this is a space where I can share a small opinion, without offending!! I would recommend looking into something other than ivy for the retaining wall. Ivy (whether english ivy, or fig ivy) has such a devastating impact on local plant life. They are quite invasive, aggressive growers, and choke out other vegetation. I volunteer with my city's tree department and we are always battling ivy growing on the city trees.

    • @Baetanical
      @Baetanical  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No offense taken, of course! Fig "ivy" isn't a true ivy. It's a ficus, actually and many use it as a houseplant. I guess I should have called it creeping fig. But point taken!

    Follow you on IG. This is a great first video. Audio is very good. Love to see a lot of zinnias-my favorite cut flower. Liatris is one of my favorites too. One of the few bulbs that blooms mid summer. Dr. Seuss is a great description for that flower stalk. It makes a good cut flower too because it dries really well. Retaining wall turned out very nice. Looking forward to upcoming vids.

      I'm going to have to cut a few stalks of the Liatris because I had no idea they would be a good cut flower! Can't wait to film more. Thanks for coming along for the ride!

    What a great video! Really loved all of your beds and of course that wall build! 😍 Were those some ficus trees out behind the wall? Great job gents!

    • @Baetanical
      @Baetanical  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oooo if you're talking right behind the wall, there's a peach tree and a nearly-dead Mexican plum tree lol. They're actually still in their pots, but just buried in the soil until the wall is complete!

    Ohh I’m so excited to have found your channel! You give me hope for Austin gardening in cottage style :) I also have a sloped lawn (so intimidating!) and was hoping you could share with me the material you used for the veggie beds? You said something about it but I couldn’t quite get the name. Thanks for sharing!

    Love your videos. You can steak your zucchini to grow up. Helps keep then off the ground and takes up less space.

  • @SatchPatch25

    That "delsperma" ground cover is absolutely beautiful!! 😍😍😍
    Edit: You must be doing something right or just straight magical in your garden, as I was surprised at some of the plants you had not only surviving in your beds but also growing and flowering happily! Beautiful job!
    Also that wall is impressive! Was the whole area slopped? Like even the little walkway path? It would be cool to see what it looked like before.
    Subbed and looking forward to more videos! I follow Garden Answer (Truly impressive work. I think you'd love the channel) but her climate is very cold. I'm from FL currently living in PR so a garden channel with somewhat the same heat is exciting!❤😍

    • @Baetanical
      @Baetanical  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sasha Arroyo Thank you for your wonderful comment! Yes the whole area in the back was and is sloped. It can be really tricky to plant on a slopes terrain but it definitely helps with drainage since I don’t have areas that flood. I absolutely love Garden Answer! She has a very different climate, but I still get ideas from her here and there.
