My mum was born in this region. Guardiagrele was the nearest town. As a girl, in the 1930’s she and her sisters would carry milk in a big container on their heads, up the streets to the citta to sell.
CORRECTION: At 6:30 I begin speaking about a sign remembering violence in Guardiagrele. In my haste I read 1943, when in fact the sign is referencing a birth year of 1842. I'm not sure as of yet who the gentleman named on the sign is, but I'll update when I have more information.
One day a week the shops in the smallest towns in this part of Italy close or operate on very limited hours. If I recall correctly it's Tuesdays, but whichever day it is that when I filmed this.
