Since he asked what would you like to ask Scott for next time he pops by?

I would like to know about plans for new characters and heroes, and what he thinks about why new heroes just never seem to take. I'll probably have more questions later.

is absolute aquaman already on the ideas table? And Lobo had a cancellation special, is he really cancelled? Is doomsday going to be in the james gun movies? Is atomic skull going to be in the next superman movie? Is Jean-paul valley in Absolute batman as an incel?

      Five things
1.) *Duke Thomas.* How does Scott Snyder feel how DC is handling him such as Batman Secret Files: The Signal and Batman Urban Legends?
What Story Plans did Scott Synder had for Duke before leaving DC?
2.) Who is the one who become The Villain from Batman’s Curse Wheel training from All Star Batman.
I remember there is a ScreenRant article, they wrote Batman’s Curse Wheel is wasted potential.
3.) *Scott Snyder’s New Challengers* It was supposed to be an ongoing series but it became a Mini Series. What went wrong? Did Snyder had future Plans for The New Challengers? Why he put Krunch on the team? Will we see Krunch and the other Challengers in Chris Cantwell’ Challengers of the Unknown.
4.) Do Scott Snyder believe that Diana should stay dead after she sacrifices herself in Death Metal? Diana was dead before(the current writer does not know that). Diana becomes the Goddess of Truth and her mother, Hippolyta took her mantle.
I would like Donna Troy or Cassie Sandsmarks to get attention. Or Cassie being a Mentor to Yara Flor.
5.) The Wake. I do like to him talk about The Wake.

How hard is it to formulate or develop a story? I sometimes may think I have a good idea for a story, but I can't imagine actually being able to sit down and concoct an entire tale with people and motivations, all the places, etc.
P.S. - Thank you for these interviews. They're really inspirational and enjoyable.

This is so great. I love these Scott chats and as someone whose in my late 20s and has felt discouraged by myself as a writer. Feeling like the older I get the more I see others' talents and my own shortcomings. It is nice to see how he sees it as a something you can learn. He's also just so down to earth and it's so great to listen to your conversations.

This might sound dumb but it's gonna harder to buy comic books other than online or a comic shop like I wish they still sold comics on a magazine rack at the grocery store or some place like that.

Was never much into comics way back in the day as a kid, but one thing I did notice trying out comic stories a couple of years ago? They out priced blue collar famlies kids the mass working class audience and greatly nerfed availabilty to the general public just selling floppies in LCS. I just buy trades they are cheaper by half and more available like in book shops. Floppies are a niche middle class luxuary item for adults now going the way of the dodo.

Absolute Batman is one of the reasons I'm buying new comics again. Absolutely Fantastic (AF, lol)! I loved the part about breaking into comics. When I was younger, I drew superheroes and tried to make my own comics. I even bought the Marvel Try-Out book. It's great that he's encouraging and helping a new generation of comic book creators.

Late, but it's great to see another interview. I'll say your channel got me more interested in the meat and bones of comics as a medium. I love how you always talk not just about the comic books but also their creators and inspirations. It's made reading comics, and I am reading more thanks to you and similar comic book TH-camrs, feel far more interested because I'm more invested in them. I'm all in on Absolute Batman partly because of an interview like this where Scott Synder is oozing with enthusiasm himself.

For Scott, I really miss batwoman, I think she started so strong with a gritty, crime almost supernatural series and I definitely think there’s more to do w her character, it’s really nice to see more female characters getting more attention and I think there’s soo many interesting stories to tell, also based on a previous video from this channel can we please figure out what’s going on with white rabbit 😂

**For Scott**- I think putting politics and real-life social issues into comics is what drives the biggest sales today. Just look at The Ultimates, Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, Far Sector, the rise in popularity of characters like Dreamer or the continued popularity of characters like Doctor Doom or Green Arrow. Done right, that “political” aspect of a book really drives in the depth of the story and makes me more interested as a reader.
Two- As a daily/weekly manga reader, I think there are a few ways to improve as well, especially with the fights. The kinetic and fluid fights you see in series like Jujutsu Kaisen, Naruto, Sakamoto Days, and the like is *immensely* appealing to manga fans. Kagurabachi, the major new hit from Shonen Jump, is directly inspired from the John Wick series and its “one-take” action. If you want to study how to do great action from a popular hit series, that is one I would suggest.
One final thing, when the colorist really renders the colors and adds real depth to the comic- that’s when I’m most invested in the art. Brad Anderson, Alejandro Sanchez, Jamal Campbell, Ulises Arreola on Absolute Superman, etc. I know it’s incredibly difficult to achieve that level, but I find that coloring truly appealing.

When I finished Death of the Family, back when it first came out, I thought 'ok so the title was figurative rather than literal. Ok. Like they'd have killed someone off anyway.' And thought no more about it.

As an aspiring writer, I’d love to know what dollar amount I should be prepared to pay an artist per page, and how you structure the partnership (aka is the artist also entitled to a royalty percentage on all proceeds and if so what is a normal split? 50/50, 40/60, 30/70, etc????)

To defend the "just do it" crowd, to me, it's less about not needing to improve, and more on the importance of practicing and learning by doing. Someone doing a gag-a-day clip art webcomic could be writing Fantastic Four in twenty years.

Absolute Batman and Superman succeed because they're not afraid to be political, underneath everything. Absolute Wonder woman is simpler but its dumb stylish fun. Looking forward to the kaiju fight. Haven't bought comics since X-Men got driven off the cliff by Morrison two decades ago so these are refreshingly good.

With buying comics online as digital only, I'm not a fan, but I would be if the digital comic books also had an audiobook style (even just one person reading the whole book I.E. every character) but I would pay even more for like a "radio play" style of reading of the book I.E. different voice actors / people.. I've seen TH-cam videos like that and I love them. And I would be willing to pay more for a digital audio mixed Comic (even if it's just one person reading the whole comic book)
Maybe digital comics already do this not that I know about but I'm not really a fan (yet). I still love physical media.

hi i would like to know is character aesthetic more important than character development or story, am not a fan of "trunks" on any modern comic character and also batman or flash having that mouth hole cut out, i feel like these traits cause the characters in universe problems but the characters refuse to solve them. loving the absolute universe had dropped comics after the new52 ended, loved the character designs of that phase, legacy designs just break immersion for me. Absolute superman is awesome cause he is an alien who wears cool tech cause he came from an advanced technological society not trunks and spandex even though he has a fortress with advanced armour sorry am doing the thing. loving the absolute batman even with the trunks. wish it was weekly

I wish he wrote Batman more differently, more interesting.
Right now he is no different between Absolute and normal Batman.
I wish we got more flawed Batman or weaker Batman instead of just another Batman but on steroids.

The Daniel Warren Johnson comment is just weird to me. I see his style and it doesn’t seem the least bit outsider to me. While it’s not the norm of what someone may expect from a mainstream mainline comic book today, it’s totally a style that would’ve been huge in the ‘90s when way more people were reading comic books. That’s why it’s so weird to me that he hasn’t ever had some big title at Marvel or DC. If it was the ‘90s Daniel Warren Johnson would have an X-Men title with how he draws, but today Marvel and DC don’t do anything with him.
