I understand criticism of Bryn's acting, but let's allow some context. It's a concert performance, and I'm positive Mr. Sondheim was elated to hear his music sung with such technical aplomb.
I love Angela Lansbury, but Maria Friedman is wonderful. I love the way she plays this crowd. I love the weariness in her voice. Not too fond of this Sweeney. I'd like to hear him sing more notes with fewer facial and vocal affectations. One of my favorite Sondheim songs ever! So brilliant, hilarious and dark.
I don't like either one of them.... Mrs. Lovette should be more forceful, and Todd is too forceful, Mrs. Lovette is lost against him. Patti Lapone is the best for the role of Lovette... I am not sure, maybe Mandy Pitkin would be a good Todd to her.
Absolutely amazing vocal talents these pair have..... amazing...
Maria Friedman is amazing
now SHEEE is DAMN GOOD
Amazing love their voices!!!
Great voices, great acting, yes, yes all around!
How brilliant is this! Thank you for uploading
Her face when she says "Hot from the oven" is amazing!
She looks so happy with herself. >.
he dropped the line 'heavenly' after trying the priest. Sondheim probably chew his nail off during this one. Patti lupone was great in this role.
With her current reputation she could sing Mrs Lovatt and direct the production..she is one amazing lady.
Oh good lord, they're divine!
Right up there with Angela (my fav) Great job, Maria!
Got to love her expression at 2:20
She's FANTASTIC! I've never seen her before.
Watch Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat! Years ago, but she was AMAZING!
I was at the Albert Hall that night. One of the best nights of my life.
Alfie, your mum is fab. A true West End diva. Always liked her stuff. :)

Well this certainly shows that Friedman was born to play Nellie Lovett!
Loving Maria Friedman. Sweeney keeps growling like a tiger, and that kind of scares me a lot.
Si, és cert, són genials
What the hell kind of shoes does Maria have on?!
When she thinks he's gonna kiss her LOL xD
Why didnt he say 'heavenly'? that kinda ruined the joke
@RosesNightengales Bryn Terfel - a welsh opera singer
Is these stars of Sweeney Todd play before or after Angela Landsbury?
Awe, she's so cute! Curious though who plays Sweeney here? I know Maria Friedman is Mrs Lovett, but...sweeney?
Lauren Faerber Bryn Tyfel :)
This doesn't make sense. This was recorded in 2010. Lansbury did it in 1979 and again in 1982.
The height difference is really working for me.
I don’t think Bryn needs the mic lol
at least I know how this song has to sound^^ after I only know Tim Burton's movie version *lol*
@PuppetsNStuff Irrelevant. My perception has not changed.
love maria friedman in this! dont know who the bloke is :L but he was good x

It’s a good version, but a bit abbreviated.
Really black humour, but it always makes me laugh.
Maria is excellent, but Bryn is prettyover top most of the time.
It seems she's trying to be original, but also using quite of bit Lansbury in there. Doesn't bode well. He is excellent though

I've seen less Gurning from Les Dawson. She is no Lupone or Julia McKenzie....
She's great; Bryn's just horrible. Being an opera star is no excuse for crappy acting.
