Emily, Just discovered your TH-cam Channel. I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher living in Massachusetts. Your drawings are truly beautiful. These are wonderful demonstrations. You do an excellent job with shading. I am glad you found Zentangle as a way to focus. Your story hits home with me, as I lost my husband in Dec. 2020 after a three year battle with cancer that spread to his brain several times. I send you healing thoughts and prayers. Also donated on your go fund me page.
The subject is in my wheelhouse. Very informative, loved it enough to watch more than once. Great topic, do not hesitate to post more on this subject it it fits your plans.
She is beautiful and so is your tangling! I am a CZT from Florida. I have been fighting an incurable blood cancer for 12 ½ years. That's when I stated tangling. I think it has helped me tremendously! I was certified in 2012. I never thought that I would actually teach but did until COVID. Now, I just teach at my church. I love to teach but can not do it on line and when I am not feeling so good from chemo and all of my drugs, I spend a lot of time watching others. Almost as relaxing as tangling myself. LOL! 😉😆
I feel so proud of myself that I discovered your channel! Pls keep updating so that more videos like this can be seen, love it so much and really appreciate your effort on making this beautiful artwork! My eyes got stuck on your video, and for no reason i finished watching this beautiful artwork and realise that i've a smile on my mouth 😌😌😌 Thank you for this video~ Love from Malaysia 🇲🇾
I'm glad I found your channel :) my mom introduced me to zentangles (not sure if thats the correct way to say it) many years ago as an easy means of calm art, where I'm not having to think up an entire painting, and in my real bad physical day when I can't do much of anything, she thought this could be a fun and relaxing way to still do a bit of art without the pressure and could do it sitting down or however I need to be...and the bad days are more often then not, so I love these. Though I've gotten out of the habit, but my most recent surgery that we did in an effort to keep use of my arms, well we started with my right one since it's the worst...but there's been some life altering complications that even my surgeon didn't understand, which is always awesome. My new doctor gave me some bad news about not getting use of my lung or diaphragm back on the right side and not sure if I'll get all use back in my right arm...when I went in I could use it, just weakness and pain getting worse, woke up to it just laying there, not numb, just not listening to me when I tell it to move...and unable to breathe...all of which blamed on me since he didn't know🙄🥺 anyway...I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around my arm and not being able to lay down or do my deep breathing which I survived on to deal with extreme chronic pain, ptsd and anxiety among the many...so....I love being able to go through TH-cam and find all these amazing artists, like you, and be inspired be the art and helps me stay excited for the occasional good day. Right now I can't do anything but this, but I'm hoping I can do some of this to keep my head right. Art saved my life years ago...doing anything creative is amazingand something I wish more people realized they could do! I didn't know i could, actively told myself I wasn't ever good enough to even try..until I hit a wall in my mid 40's with major health setbacks and not wanting more meds. So, it i tried and was shocked I could...began simple of course!! But these helped me fall in love with shading!! Its my favorite part of drawing and painting. My lil' sis has gone through chemo and radiation, years ago, in an inoperable cancerous brain tumor...she came through it, its still there but got smaller so her seizures lessened. They recently found small dot in the same area but the opposite lobe, but, they're just keeping an eye in it. But she's just living her life and getting back to her art, she's an amazing artist, I didn't get that same gene ;) luckily my son did so that's good :) So I hate so much seeing this news for you. I know this video is a bit older, I hope you're doing ok...as ok as is possible with everything you're going through!! I can't even imagine! Even knowing what my sister went through, I know it, but can't truly know it, if that makes sense. I'm unable to help financially with everything going on with my mess, that's partly why I babbled so much about my stuff...even though I know its nothing compared to what you're going through!! But all I can do right now is subscribe and turn on notifications, which I did almost right away anyway because this is such a beautiful and relaxing video and much needed today :) I know its not enough though. I look forward to watching the rest of your videos too :) you have such a steady hand!! Mine, not so much, so my zentangles are real messy, just like the rest of my art, though thats intentional 😊 Thanks for sharing your life and your beautiful art, it truly helps all of us!!🥰
Thank you so much for watching. It helps more than you realize just to have the support. I'm having a difficult time myself at the moment with creating art, but I really want to get back to it. Having this calming art to do and feeling like it's finished without languishing over it for days or months or years is so great, isn't it? I wish you a lot more of the better days, but am with you in solidarity when they're hard. ❤ Thanks again for subscribing and supporting the channel.
@@EmilySuess you're exactly right about finishing something without forever feeling like it's not quite done!! It can make it overwhelming to even begin those sometimes. :/ But these are so beautiful and so good to get your mind going in the right direction...I don't know why I forget. I'm sorry you're having trouble!! You've got more then your share to deal with right now, so that makes sense. But I hope you can find a bit of peace with some of the these, or in knowing what your doing here helps me and no doubt SO many others, a ton! Such a good reminder for mindfulness, finding a bit of peace when we're having a hard time. Something simple, repetitive, yet so beautiful, to keep our minds focused on calm, positive thoughts of peace inside ourselves. And I know filming and editing are not easy at all, plus it takes courage to share your art...something I definitely don't have about my art... So thank you again for all you do, and do well and during such a difficult time. Truly appreciated!!!🥰
Hi Emily! Happy Holidays! The New Year is almost here! It’s always good to “bump” into you online. Hey, it’s pretty crazy cold here today in IL. Stay cozy warm! Thanks for the gorgeous video. I’m going to go and draw now. You inspire me!
Happy holidays! That temperature drop over night was brutal, wasn't it? We are baking a pie for tomorrow and doing our best to stay warm here. Happy drawing :)
Apologies that part of the Alcatraz pattern is out of frame. I'll have a video coming out Saturday 12/12 (Friday if you're a Patron) featuring the pattern to make it up to everyone. Stay tuned!

Hello Emily, have just found you and Izzy and suscribed straightaway. You have such a beautifil calmness that one can immediatly follow your tangels. Such beauty and so effective. Your shading makes them stand out so well. I had a little trouble trying to watch, as my big black bear of a cat, Züpfel, just had to jump up on my shoulder and enjoy the vibes you sent out. Thank you so much for sharing - such consentration and expertise - I will try to draw them when I get up, it is 5:16 am lol. I really enjoyed and appreciate you showing how to draw these tangels. Love snd light from Germany 🐾🐈🐾💕

Sometimes it helps to very methoically saturate the paper with ink, and sometimes it helps to embrace the imperfections and move on. One of the steps of Zentangle is holding the tile at arms length, and I think it helps me be less judgemental of my tangled and look at the tile as a whole.
Love your cat's interruption!!! Beautiful tangles. So great to tangle to this music and let the mind be focused.

This is the best. Takes me back to middle school when it did not have the title of zentangle.
Good luck in the coming days…thank you for the beautiful tangles and the laughs supplied by the kitty.

Also, my girl was very thin, then I had her fixed & it made her chubby .
Izzy was tiny, but she was young. So I can't say if she would've been chonky or not without being fixed. Regardless, we love the little weirdo. 😂
Lovely work. What do you use to smudge your pencil with?
A tortillon--basically just tightly rolled paper.
❤❤❤❤
I got to start recording my art I've done zentangle for 12 years and never recorded it

Lol....too funny... no the cat says, this one is mine. LOL
What size is your paper?
These are Bijou tiles. You can find the official ones on Zentangle.com. They're 2 inches (5 cm) square if you're cutting your own.
