This man is a true inspiration. To come out of addiction and do something absolutely wonderful and selfless is nothing short of mind boggling. Very proud of him, he has done what many dream of (:
I wonder the efficacy of peppers treating alcoholism though. I know capsaicin interacts with endorphins, but alcohol works on the GABA a receptor, which I completely different. You would think it would be a lot safer and more sustainable for him to get on like chlordiazepoxide. Alcohol withdrawal can be very dangerous. No matter how addictive you are to heroin, you’re not gonna die from withdrawals unless you’re old or sick with some life-threatening illness. But with alcohol, the withdrawal can kill a perfectly healthy 20 year old. There could be some mechanism that helped prevent that, or he was on some medication assisted treatment, like benzodiazepines or chlordiazepoxide, and peppers just helped.

What about other pepper growers/breeders who don’t get screen time? And you believe in cancer research? 😂 at least i can think for myself unlike you bots!
For those who are interested, the reason it is actually plausible that eating chillis relieved this man's alcohol cravings, is because the brain responds to pain signals by releasing endorphins. Beware though, the Carolina Reaper is so hot, very few have tried one raw without deeply regretting it moments later. 😂
