    Regarding the tone arm - it just takes a screw driver and 5 seconds kf elbow grease. You just have to loosen the screw in the "ball" joint which holds the tone arm - you can see it in the side of the arm. Just loosen it a liiiitle bit and it will move more freely and let you set the counterweight just right. Hope that helps. It makes this good record player a great one.

    House Of Marley is a company that has gotten a lot of flack for focusing more on aesthetics and with functionality coming almost as an afterthought, but I still admire them for their ethos. Almost a decade in the market, they've proven that their sustainability isn't just a gimmick or marketing ploy by being consistent in their efforts to use upcycled/recycled materials. People fail to realize how expensive it can be to make trash look decent and not DIY-ish, let alone as good as HoM does. I just wish they'd pay more attention to sound quality and functionality and not settle for basic, even if they aren't an audiophile brand. But as a lifestyle brand, they're awesome because their stuff is probably the most difficult to fake.

    Hey, just to let you know, I just bought the *Wireless* version of this turntable, and it does come with volume control this time, along with bluetooth compatibility. Arm balance still sucks, but once it's done, it's done. I like this unit quite a bit in fact.

    BTW-in case you or someone else doesn’t know, the Capitol rainbow label was the label used for the Beatles original Capitol records releases in the US. Capitol used that label until the end of the 60s. The Beatles Rarities, which came out in 1980, marked the return of the rainbow label.

    I have this turntable which is the first turntable I've got since my parents old one (from the 80's!) broke down.
    When it comes to the headphone jack, it's good thing to have if you have for example a small home - zero privacy and small kids in the mix. That's when I use headphones for days when I don't want to disturb anyone and just listen to good music. Also volume can be adjusted - you just need headphones or speaker that has separate volume adjustment on them. And it works.

    Just picked up the newer BT version of this. I was able to balance the arm pretty easily. Maybe they fixed it?
    The only issue I had was with the anti-skate. I set it to 2 to match the tone arm balance but it may as well have been 2 million. The tone arm would constantly pull back in the later tracks and really bad in the run out. Dialling the skate right back fixed that tho.

    Thanks for the video. Very informative and answered all my questions. I just had an opportunity to get one of these turntables...can't wait to try it out. That was awesome seeing Merle Travis in this video. One of the few guitarist to get a guitar made by Bigsby. Yep...Bigsby made electric guitars too at one time...not just whammy bars. They still hold up and look unbelievable today and are extremely rare.

    Had mine a few weeks. Got it free, so tough to complain, but the platter spins in a very wonky fashion...I get that records won't be flat but surely the platter should be.....
    It sounds ok but it's my first turntable so I have nothing to compare it to. It does look nice however 😊

    I have owned a Marley bluetooth speaker for a couple of years. Love it. Just got the basic non bluetooth turntable and hate it. The needle sensitivity sucks and if you do manage to balance it correctly and the next LP you put on is not the same thickness you need to start over. It's heading to craigslist.

    Like I said before, it's pretty ez these days to disguise crappy stuff as quality products. This turntable, however appears to be at least a couple of steps above that and it would certainly appeal to the vast majority of casual listeners. I'm sure it's performance is quite acceptable when paired with some powered speakers but I think it would fall short hooked up to a quality audio system. It actually looks like a pretty good buy to me.

    But seriously, in my book, auto stop is not that great a feature to have. We all know that the size of run out grooves vary from record to record, based on how it’s mastered (among other things, like length of the tracks). But all auto stop TTs are set to the same place to turn off automatically. So you could still be listening to something and with no warning it shuts off. I’m not at all saying that this happens all the time or even frequently. But it’s still a possibility.
    Can you turn off the auto stop? If you can, that would be the answer to this problem. But if you can do that, then why have auto stop in the first place? Now you can see why I don’t think it’s so great a feature on a TT.
    I for one appreciate your follow up videos. Everybody posts initial reviews, but not that many that I’ve seen have posted follow ups. It’s nice to see how well something has worked for you!

    Thank you for your honesty, you have nabbed yourself another subscriber. I’ve been between the Stir it Up and the ATLP60xUSB (I kinda need the USB functionality personally because it allows for greater flexibility and also helps with digitizing those old LPs that don’t come with digital codes like most of the more modern vinyls do, and AT locking the functionality for a $30 more expensive SKU is SHADY af IMHO) and honestly this one is pretty tempting. Unless you think the extra $30-$70 is worth it to get the ATLP60XUSB or the Bluetooth and USB one. I think the overly complicated SKUs for Audio Technica is a huge issue for me and that might push me towards the Marley one and not just because I’m a big fan of their sustainability with their products, but also because they don’t have a hundred and ten different SKUs with minor differences to confuse new vinyl people like me.

    Hi, nice video!
    I am actually about to send my stir it up to fix/replace (it's still within guarantee), and that is how I found your video. Recently, it started skipping in the last song of the record, and it just goes on and on around the same line. Unfortunately this seems like a common issue of these turntables, since I found several comments online of other people with the same problem as mine.
    Its sustainability was the main reason I bought this turntable, and that does not disappoint. But I the sound quality is really not as rich as I expected, and the counterweight and arm are very annoying. Another thing that happens with mine is that the plate wobbles when the record is playing (not sure if that can have repercussions on the sound quality/record).
    Finally, my stir it up doesn't have autostop, and I don't think that they normally do. Maybe you changed yours to add that option?
    Just wanted to share my experience with you!

    • @Recordology
      @Recordology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting - good luck. Mine is unmodified except for the new cart.

    • @PuglioInside
      @PuglioInside 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have encountered the same issues you report. I did what follows: I got a digital scale to make sure the tracking weight was ok: looked I did a good job manually - the tonearm is annoying but it’s a minor issue in my opinion. I think the reason why the antistop seems disabled is because the antiskate (many users complained about it) is too high if you set it at the same value of the tracking weight (as instructed). This causes skipping problems towards the last grooves and if so happens while the needle is in the runout grooves, it gets locked in a loop right before the autostop mechanism activates itself. I suggest to raise the antiskate value till the point the autostop works freely (mine is little less than 1): I tested it with a blank record and it works, no inward arm movement.
      My platter wobbles too, and it is noticeable in the author’s video as well… Maybe THIS is the cause of the wow and flutter issue some users report?
      By the way, did you have it back from the factory? Did they fix the reported issues? I had contacts with their customer service, they were swift in replying, but haven’t sent it back yet, I’d be thankful if you share your experience.
      I hope this helps you and all the other users that may encounter similar issues.
      What I think of this table? I am new to the world of vinyl and I don’t have any term of comparison, I don’t think it sounds bad though, and some upgrades are possible if the needle is changed. Should they be able to fix some functional issues, I think they would come up with a good product, expressing its true potential. Let’s see what they come up with in the future…!

    A plinth made of bamboo, more like trash and poo 🤢🤢🤢. I only buy 20 million dollar turntables where I can hear the bacteria multiply on my vinyl. /s

      Amateur. Anything bellow your soul and left nut in price is absolute pathetic trash. If you plinth is anything but virgin unicorn horn you might as well be deaf. Go back to your Beats and your MPshits and leave vinyl to us the real audiophiles
