I have the original company’s black Bond A5 zip-around and the brown wax-canvas brown Lochby & love them both. Although the Bond did come with a hard-back 296 page TR notebook and I am extremely happy I bought several of them. I do highly recommend both A5 versions.
I'm wondering if the black dye transfer issue isn't one of marking pens but rather other types of cloth especially when tucked into a pocket or stored inside a canvas bag. Handbag manufacturers and some jean brands issue similar cautions for their dyed products that come in contact with other textiles.
I absolutely love the Lochby covers & cases! I can't have the black ones though because I have 3 cats one mostly white haired and 2 with partly white coats lol. Thank goodness for the brown ones ... I use the field journal as a daily bullet journal cover & the pocket notebook too. They are so well made & useful!!!
I have some of these and I second the durability and ruggedness of them. Really well made and thought out in the design. I'll take these over some of my leather covers if I know they might be subject to water or humidity. Great for travel.
I don't own the small pen pouch, but it looks like the Ensso Minimalist (pocket) pen would fit nicely in the tiny inside pocket as would a Fisher "Bullet" Space Pen. The "tan" Lochby products, that I do own, are very well made, versatile, attractive and functional. That is neither an easy or a common accomplishment! Bravo.
Stephen lovely "re review", and I certainly appreciated. If possible I would like to see a writing sample between the Lochby TR paper and the regular one (52 gsm?), would be interesting to compare.
I have a field journal and a tool wrap that look just like these, but are branded "Bond Travel Gear" I have had them a few years - did they undergo a name change or re-branding? I like both products very much. May take look at the pen case next. Thanks for the review.
I have a black Lochby and I like it but the black shows hair more than the brown. I am thinking of figuring out a way to weather it some how to give it a bit more character and have the scuffs and dirt be the focus more than the hair and lint it can pick up. If anyone knows how I’d love some help.

Price is $49 now for the large. It went up $10 since you reviewed the brown.

Very nice. I just ordered one with a few refills. I love their tool roll for my pens.

I love my brown/tan field cover. I want to get the pen case next.
I have both size notebook covers and I love 💘 them
Looks like some quality, well thought out stationary. Hard to get T/river paper Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺. Love to see a demo of some in use.

@Pensive Ink Thanks for the info. Yes, I agree about the A5 hardcover notebook. It was very nice.
Excellent review as always. The tool roll I use daily. Great quality, I only wish the tan would come with the same color lining as the black
Nice review! In case you get your hands on one, a pilot vanishing point LS review would be appreciated!
Yes please, a writing sample

Where are Lochby products made?
Tomoe River, dreamy. Please do a writing sample.
The only thing that you missed in the review is Windy, I needed him for size reference 🤣
Something big into something tight. Just slipped that one in there.
Would a phone sit in the back pocket of the small journal case?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and it fits
@@sbrebrown Awesome, thank you!
Looks great!
