  • Here we have the first episode in the Scania 141 series.
I purchased the truck with the idea of using some parts on another project (A Scania 111). I was told the truck would probably not run, chassis was meant to be twisted and that in general it was scrap. Therefore, I bought it for next to nothing and had it tilt trayed to a yard to start pulling a few bits off.
My curiosity got the better of me and I had to try and start it. In this episode you will see the engine start and run well. The chassis is not twisted and it is actually a tidy example (bar the rusty cabin). I am however having issues trying to select a gear.
So yes, the "parts truck" has defiantly become a second project.
    Thanks for watching,
    James

Splendid and reliable trucks, those V8 models of SCANIA in several configurations. My old uncle, who lived in Port Hedland, Western Australia used them in Road Train and Heavy Haulage. His units were in 6 x 4 and 8 x 4, with sleeper, conventional and cabovers, these models build up Australia. Greetings from Dordrecht / Holland the Netherlands. Keep up with Transport History. 👍🌝👌👋

hello, very happy to see this LK a little similar to the LB, the difference in position of the front axle and awesome and the shape of the front fenders too. I drove an LB.👍

James, I work for Scania at Campbellfield. I also worked there when these were sold. The truck is in surprisingly good nick. It is an early LKT because it has trilex rims.
It runs very well. The only issue is the rust in the cab but otherwise it looks good. Where did the truck come from??
    Good luck with it.

      G'day Greg,
Are you in parts? I may have rung you before for some 1 series bits. It's a 78 model. What year did Scania change to the standard spider rim?
It is all there. A lot of rust though. I bought it from an excavations mob in Beveridge. Before that I have been told it was around Ballan. That's about all I know about it.
When I've got it in a driving condition I'll drop into Campbellfield 👍

@@jtbhire Thanks James. Yes I work in parts and still do after 35+ years so i know a bit about them I guess. The standard Malco american style rims came in in 1980.
Now some of the parts are getting hard to get. Body parts in particular are gradually becoming obsolete. However there are some options.
i look forward to seeing you one day. So call in and say hello.
