  • Elastomeric Impression Material or Rubber base impression Materials are of 4 types. This includes Addition Silicone, Condensation Silicone, Polysulfide, and Polyether. In this 1st Part of the video which is a part of the current ongoing impression material series on Aspire32, Dr Suresh Shenvi has explained the composition, the setting reaction, advantages, and the disadvantages of the same. Elastomeric Impression Materials are asked very commonly in many dental exams. This video also explains the elastomeric impression material manipulation in brief. Elastomeric impression materials easy dentistry will be helpful for your exams too.
    This video of Aspire 32 is made by Dr. Suresh Shenvi who has cleared various exams like ADAT, NBDE from the USA, DHA from Dubai, and various Indian Entrance exams like PGI, KCET, NEET. I am MDS in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics by profession. I am also an author of dental books on the entrance exam and I am also currently a faculty at KLE University and a receiver of best teacher award.

    Sir , Why is it, that only Polysulphide impression can be electroplated ? Whats the science behind that Sir? Please answer! !!!

      Unfortunately, because of their large dimensional instability, agar impressions
      cannot be electroplated. To build up a thick layer of plated metal, the
      impression must be left in the electroplating solution for many hours. As the
      plated layer forms, the underlying impression is imbibing the electrolyte and
      expanding. The resulting plated layer wrinkles and tears.
