Same here, we are probably the same gereration. As Busby was the founder of the modern Man United, Shankly was the genius that founded Liverpool. Two truly great clubs, but if we lose to the 'scousers' I'm in mourning for a month; at least. Never had a problem with Liverpool supporters except, one day in a Liverpool pub in Litherland, we decided, self and 3 newly acquired drinking partners, to pick the best 11 from both teams. I had 9 MU in my team, as I knew the 3 'scousers' would have a minimum of 10 in theirs; I was wrong, they had all
      11. One of the best nights, and arguments (very friendly) in my life; I think.

Liverpool v Leeds FA Cup. My friend and I David planned to go to this game. In those days you mainly paid at the gate. Although we lived over the water on the Wirral, it isnt that far just 8 miles but nevertheless we set off very early as we new Anfield would be packed. We caught bus, train and bus arrived at the ground at 10 o'clock. We were well prepared hot and cold drinks and sandwiches (jam butties really). Eventually nature took it's course and I was desparate for a wee. On my weigh back feeling so relieved, a man from behind patted me on my head "Good morning son a bit early" It was Shankly. Even to this day I feeling like kicking myself. I was so in awe of the man I couldn't speak let alone ask for his autographThe way he spoke with his great Scottish grit. I remained open mouthed until getting back to David, who by this time was also kicking himself. We sat on the floor outside the Anfield road end, our Mums, bless them, wouldn't allow us to go into the Kop. A man appeared carrying several cameras who asked us how long had we been here. We told him and he took our photo and said "You be in The Liverpool Echo tonight boys" which we were. The game ended 0-0 Liverpool lost the replay, but what a day.

Speaking as a Spurs fan(A life long sufferer) I don't mind admitting if I see anything on the Net about this Legendary character I'm stopped in my Tracks!
.To say he was fascinating and inspiring is totally understating his importance!
..And when I look at Politics&Politicians around the World(who are all self serving BS Artists,Liars and Hypocrites on all sides)
You look at Bill Shankley and could easily imagine him as a major player in the Labour Party (The old school Party which represented the average working man&woman in the street & not today's pretentious 'Champagne Socialists')
But enough of my Political rant!!&back to the football!
What he did for Liverpool, paving the way for Bob Paisley(who was also a tremendous Manager) & today's Manager!..
And he gave the People of that Lancashire City, Pride in the Team &themselves!!.
A true Legend...'They broke the Mold' So may his Soul rest in peace.

Great video but I hate that none of these editors don't understand that the music should never derail from the speech. If that happens, then the speech won't land. Music needs to embrace the speech and not completely take over. Many moments where I had to hard focus on what was being said just because the music was so loud. I don't get it what's with this fascination with music over words. Makes no sense to me.

It's so sad when at 25:08 where the fans are in shock and don't believe Shankly retired. He probably would have led Liverpool to those European Cup wins as well, but he laid the foundation for the team to DOMINATE the mid 70's and early 80's. He was the one that built that team up to be great and Bob Paisley was a wonderful caretaker that didn't mess up the formula. It's sad that stress like you saw with Klopp took so much of that great man. Some can handle the stress and go on for many years like Sir Alex and there are some that the stress get to their bodies and they HAVE to retire to rest their bodies.

    • @bionicgeekgrrl
      @bionicgeekgrrl 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

The stress gets to their families too and that will often be the breaking point. When Kenny left it was because he recognised he needed away from the stress to properly come to terms with the effects of Hillsborough and I would not be surprised if his family were as much of the reason.
With klopp I think it was likely more his wife said enough. He said when he changed his mind and signed his extension that his wife had final say. If she told him that she felt like it was time to go he'd go I have no doubt.

    • @redmustangredmustang
      @redmustangredmustang 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@bionicgeekgrrl the same thing happened with Sir Alex. When his wife sister died, his wife wanted him to be around more at the house especially when it came to his wife. Plus Sir Alex was in his early 70's so it was time to retire anyway. Sadly his wife died last year.

    Glenbuck Son
    1913-1981
    In Glenbuck he was born
From an Ayrshire mine he did rise
The man who would change so many lives
With the Cherry Pickers he played the game
With Carlisle United he first found fame
At Deepdale with Tom Finny he did play
Seven caps for Scotland he was proud to display
As a manager new tricks to learn
To Carlisle United he did return
At Grimsby he cast his net
The Glenbuck son's destiny was set
Workington and Huddersfield he did run
    No to Liverpool in '51
    Eight years down the line
An historic day in December '59
All would soon fear the famous THIS IS ANFIELD sign
    Promotion in '62
    Champions in '64
The Glenbuck son, Kopites did adore
    '65 to Wembley in May
The Glenbuck son took the Cup away
Now Into Europe he lead his team
To be Champions of Europe was his dream
Cheated in Milan, all was doom and gloom
Now back home in his beloved boot room
The Glenbuck son would sit in a huddle
'73 he won a league and UEFA cup double
May 74 back at Wembley once more
    Malcolm McDonald, what's the score?
July, the Kopites heads are down
The Glenbuck son has relinquished his crown
    September 1981
