He explained that he experienced racism in the area from police and privileged white people, and he shared a story from his younger years to prove his point.

Stanley "Tookie" Williams' "Blue Rage, Black Redemption" is a must-read. More action than a blockbuster and really easy to read. It explains a lot about the culture of gang banging, especially the slang.

@@JayLauren Yes, I read "The Autobiography of an L.A. Gang Member" first, and they both say they knew each other in both their books. Monster wrote his first, but since Tookie is older, his book is like a prequel to Monster's.
Raymond Washington didn't write the book, it's a biography done by somebody else, but I'll read it anyway. For Tookie and Monster's defense, auto-biographies are biased by nature: you can't write about yourself 100% objectively. Also they both wrote while in jail, so they made sure not to snitch, and probably didn't tell the whole truth.
Vlad was shocked when Melvin stated that his father was in his life and with his mom.
Vlad is very interested in the home upbringing of blacks (single parent vs both parent homes) that played in the street life culture.
