I found the Berbers quite good because it doesn't take much to get control of north west africa and then just go to spain and go ham

or you can head east of Carthage and take East Africa up to Suza.

Never auto resolve while playing as them. You’ll get wrecked even with favourable balance of power.

Rome total war two units of hastati could defeat 3 units of hollies or 2 and a general in auto resolve

Since the Berbers all have Arabic sounding names, I have a special tactic when I play as them: a reverse Muslim conquests. Starting with Spain and Africa, and then moving east into Persian and Byzantine territory in the east.

I saw their start location and instantly knew I was going to Rashidun-larp. Just made it to Cyrene.

Hi Lugo. You are right the are very unique faction and one very fun to use.
I have some tips that can be useful:
    - Never autoresolve against romans, specially in sieges.
    - Never send an army without a general. They will lose even with numbers in their favor.
    - Used ranged units to weak the enemy and attack with cavalry from behind.
    - Fight mostly in open field. Their units have very good stamina and speed.
    - Go to Corduba first and take the whole Iberian Peninsula before go east.
    - You will need camels against the ERE and Sassanids. Liked or not.
    - They are a full Christian faction so eliminate the other religions asap when taking cities.
I hope one day see you play a campaign with them.

Such a bizarre faction, it's easy to see in battle why they weren't playable. I recall one of the cavalry units simply not even attacking in battles, might be the chieftain.

In regards to watchtowers making money that might be down to the fact that rebel armies love to stand on watchtowers over roads and farmland. This means that the tower won't give you anymore sight but there'll be less devastation and land trade won't be blocked so you'll get more money than if you didn't have a watchtower. That's what I think anyway.

Basically the Berbers are a sort of Hit and Run faction. Rely on their mobility

    • @hannibalburgers477
      @hannibalburgers477 ปีที่แล้ว

They are more of a Run faction since they have low range

Berbers > Numidia, for one simple saving grace... Horse archers.
I'm not sure about other people but give me the crappiest horse archer units and I can take armies to Hell and back through even 10 to 1 odds, and when they run out of ammo simply withdraw, rinse and repeat or if the enemy is too tired and slow you're able to easily outflank and surround with the light fast infantry, this faction is not easy and if you attack head on you will die 9 times out of 10, no armour isn't always bad, who needs armour if you never get caught?
This faction is all or nothing when you decide to throw your infantry in the mix, your general is too important to lose to keep exposing to constant danger and you need your cav to skirmish and pepper the enemy with missiles so they can't engage in prolonged melee, your inf can't either but long story short this faction will either be a cakewalk or Hell on Earth depending how good you are at wearing an army down and dodging their heavy hitting units.
Ambush, fight dirty and you don't ever want to be in a fair 1v1 with these units and if you enjoy guerrilla warfare you will love this faction.

Your first instinct will almost certainly be to expand into north africa. Unfortunately, african provinces are incredibly wide, giving massive distance to capital penalties in carthage despite only being one province away! Instead, beat the Ummayads to the punch and invade Iberia. Not only are the Iberian provinces closer to your capitol, they're also rather wealthy and often undefended. Most notably, the Iberian peninsula's province setup allows you to hold back the WRE with only one settlement. After taking Iberia, then take Carthage, Leptis magna, and Sardinia. You should now be holding 9 regions: 4 in Africa, 4 in Iberia, and Sardinia. Alexandria is the last settlement you need to take to win, a naval invasion circumventing cyrenica can easily catch the ERE off guard.

      Lugotorix You welcome.
Also my personal opinion. Its good to secure Iberia and lock the road at Pynerees region by build fort, because most likely you will meet with vandals.
Against horde faction at bridge battle at border, camel somewhat usefull against calvary that try cross river and bridge.
While this faction is underwhelming, still its quite a good challange to welcome. If only they put a lot settlement like Attila. Haha

Hillmen do great javelin damage and can hold a line okay. Berber Axemen can do well against legionaries with flanking. Mountain Men are pointless. The best Berber unit is their cavalry archers.
A must for the Berbers is to capture Roman cities with experience granting temples and foundries, since otherwise your units are naked and terrible.

I liked numida for being hard to play. So I ended up liking the bebers too.
Tho I mostly like how they look too.

You should play one of the Mods like Total Realism, Roma Serrectum or Europa Barbourum. They attempt to make the game and factions more historically authentic than base Rome Total War whilst keeping the gameplay and the factions interesting enough to keep players engaged.

The province of "Africa" they need to win the game is Carthage. Africa was the name of the Roman province around the city of Carthage (their first province in the African continent, roughly modern day Tunisia). The name was applied to that region and, later on, to the whole continent, which was called Libya previously.

For some reason I conquered Cordoba on third turn and it gave me around 3.6k (!!!) denarii while the population was +8%!!!
Don't know if it's a bugged instalation of mine or simply because they weren't meant to be playable.

Bruh conquering Corduba funded my expedition east. Sure getting tied down in Spain is a bad move but just taking that settlement isn't such a big deal.

Moorish Raiders are pretty good. The rest of the Berbers' roster sucks big time, unfortunately. I've still got an unfinished VH/VH campaign with these guys going and I'm currently fighting the Lombardi in Gaul, and they're giving me so much trouble. Their Chosen Axemen and Chosen Archers can just wreck everything I throw against them, except for my Moorish Raiders.

    • @lugotorix6173
      @lugotorix6173  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah the Berbers roster is quite weak generally in my opinion, its a tough campaign particularly on VH

Bruh the Huns and the Franks are unstoppable, I had captured Cordoba and Carthage Nova and the huns just took dem both. Had to restarte the entire game coz dimidi and tingi were financially unstable, but this time I had to deal with franks instead. Advice; don't conquer Spain coz suffering is awaiting you lol. Stick with Rome and Egypt.
