    Did you know that Sabu was offered a spot in the 1994 Royal Rumble? Allegedly, WWF reached out but Paul Heyman (owner of ECW) fought against the idea.
    We also discuss Sabu's early memories of the Memphis territory. Hear about the first time he met a young Chris Candido as well.

  • @Jim-Tuner
    @Jim-Tuner 3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    Sabu was loyal and that is a good thing. But he gave his loyalty to a guy (Paul) who just used people and had no sense of loyalty back. There could be good reasons not to go to the WWE too early, but turning down good paying work like that spot in the Rumble was not a smart thing to do.
    But that said, 1995 would have been a terrible year for him to go to the WWF. He wasn't a Shawn Michaels guy and he had no friends in the locker room. Given the priorities of the WWE in 1995, I would guess they were looking for an undercard guy to bump heavy and lose to stars. He would have gotten slightly higher pay and a few years of work, but I'm not sure it would have lead anywhere for him.
    If he was younger and was offered a WWE deal a few years later, he could have gone to the top. But 1995 was one of the worst years ever to be in the WWE without friends.

      There's something soul less and about your comment.. It's like to you, it's a bad thing that Sabu remained with his soul, principals and morals. So to you remaining with your soul is considered "Old school" now? Then F new school if that's the case. Sabu still made lots of money and had a hell of a life, what's the problem with that?! To Sabu, life is about living it how he wants and where he isnt controlled like a puppet. Many people are ok with getting the silver or the bronze but remain with freedom, not everyone wants to get the gold but be slaves for it. Wrestlers who become sell outs pretty much lived a false life of zero expression and zero choices, but with a ton of money which means nothing after you die, they lived their only life as a slave. When most people die they never say "I shoulda made more money". They usually say "I shoulda lived my life the way I wanted to". The part that I think is insanely messed up, is how if you don't give up your soul, then you don't really get etched in history... They'll try to hide you. That's something I feel is more important than money, is being remembered for your HARD work after your gone.. that immortal status. And Sabu 100% deserves to be in Hall of Fame and be remembered accurately forever.
