The authoritarianism in this country has reached sickening levels. What's ironic is I couldn't imagine Winston Churchill's Conservatives standing for anything like this. We need less ridiculous laws to police, fine and monitor every aspect of our lives. But how do we do this now when bit by bit the state has more power than ever before, and when the only two major politcal parties in this country are exactly the same just one red and one blue?

Rishi Sunak was elected an MP in 2015. YOU dont vote for a Prime Minister YOU vote for your local MP and all the MP's select the PM. It's been this way for longer than you have been alive. Educate yourself before making a fool of yourself in public.
@@pauls3075 Actually, you vote for local MPs in by-elections, whilst the General Election is far more about national issues as opposed to local issues. In fact, it's a combination of both methodologies. People mainly vote for the party rather than a local MP or party leader at a General Election.
Yes MPs select their leader. But not the PM. Sunak remains "unelected" in terms of the general public popular vote or, in some cases, a coalition.
Unelected is the official terminology in the above regard.
Indeed, Sunak was not even the first choice of Tory members, because Liz Truss was given that honour, and quickly ballsed up her position within a matter of weeks, making the second choice loser, Sunak, become the duly appointed replacement in the wake of said blatant Truss premiership debacle.
Or, in other words, said PMs take office "outside" of a General Election.
And again, outside is the official terminology in the above regard.
The "outside" elected status happens a lot. It happened with Johnson, and Truss, and Cameron, and Brown, and Blair, and Major. Indeed, it happens far more than a PM taking office directly after a General Election, such was the situation in the case of Thatcher, Wilson, Heath, and Churchill.

Ergo, MPs do NOT select a PM. A PM can only be selected - not elected - by members. Because it is the general public who decide at the ballot box who to either elect or reject.
In fact, it is the monarch who officially appoints the PM. So neither the general public nor members of a political party select the elected PM. Members can therefore only elect the "unelected" PM prior to a General Election.

People are awake but don't know the process to get rid of them. How do we get a working class leader who's not afraid to run away from problems?
