Pile 1 Be generous of spirit ✨️ Yes, these messages resonate perfectly with where I am at the moment, Jenny. Actually, like you, I had for many years, invited people into my life who blatantly were toxic and really nad for me. They didn't resonate with me at all and even less now with what I'm going through with this terminal illness. They've consistently treated me ever so badly, disappointing me at every turn, cancelling on me last minute, over and over, making me feel really bad about having an illness I can't help, abandoning me utterly in my time of need 💔 I've even had a couple of them basically say they were only willing to spend time with me if I allowed them to be my paid "carers" which has hurt me no end. I could go on but I think you get the picture. At least I found enough self worth to deny them their requests but I had still tried to hold on to them, begging them to see me because I thought it was better than having no-one. Recently, something has shifted and I've realised it's better to let them go on their selfish ways and retain some semblance of self esteem, though deep down I have ached for a kindred soul, having lost the few people I had this with to untimely passings in the last few years and having a sadly dysfunctional family of origin which has become so fragmented it virtually doesn't exist anymore since our mother's passing last year. Within the matter of a few weeks last year, Dr's told me I was dying, my only child moved interstate and my mother died. I was given not an ounce of support from these people. In fact, quite the opposite, as I've tried to explain. However, only yesterday in fact, my only child's spouse's family invited me to a birthday gathering and they were so happy to welcome me into their healthy, tight family throng that I cried tears of joy for the first time since I can remember. It felt so warm and genuine. I attended with the help of my paid carer, who I've become so close to that he feels like my other son. On top of this, I've needed to employ a backup support person for when my primary one is off and this lady feels somehow aligned with me, much more so than the takers I've described. It's early days and yes I have to be aware of boundaries as you mentioned but she just feels right. I picked her because she's just battled cancer herself and so understands what it's like to be very sick and to face the prospect of an early death. She has empathy! Wow, I'm seeing this at the end of the week this was posted. 7 days ago, and surprisingly (or not) last week I decided to just randomly start moving towards this dream idea that I've had for a while. I took a year off from working and moved back home. The idea being that I would try to take my time and be able to really figure out what it is that I actually want to do. And lately ive been contemplating and wondering why I'm drawn to such a specific certain idea. Even when my negative inner voices are telling me that it won't work out I keep going back to this idea. So I just decided that I would start. I picked pile two. Last week I decided to look up a college in the country that I'm visiting in a month and half because I've always wanted to live abroad even if it's just short term. Found a school that teaches the curriculum in English and has an amazing one-year program from a reputable school. I booked a tour and looked at their portfolio requirements, for which submissions open two weeks after I get home from traveling. I set up a schedule to work on putting together a portfolio so it would be done before I leave for my trip and then found a ton of free and cheap resources that would help me hone the skills I need to show off in my portfolio... I am astonished at how accurate this is for me. I'm so happy and so encouraged that I'm being sent this message of just go for it and that spirit has my back with this endeavor because I've tried so many times and different ways to restructure my life and it's just never worked out. I always knew I wanted to travel to this country and I never really knew why and all of the sudden having decided I was just going to go, so many things have fallen into place. Wow, I'm seeing this at the end of the week this was posted. 7 days ago, and surprisingly (or not) last week I decided to just randomly start moving towards this dream idea that I've had for a while. I took a year off from working and moved back home. The idea being that I would try to take my time and be able to really figure out what it is that I actually want to do. And lately ive been contemplating and wondering why I'm drawn to such a specific certain idea. Even when my negative inner voices are telling me that it won't work out I keep going back to this idea. So I just decided that I would start. I picked pile two. Last week I decided to look up a college in the country that I'm visiting in a month and half because I've always wanted to live abroad even if it's just short term. Found a school that teaches the curriculum in English and has an amazing one-year program from a reputable school. I booked a tour and looked at their portfolio requirements, for which submissions open two weeks after I get home from traveling. I set up a schedule to work on putting together a portfolio so it would be done before I leave for my trip and then found a ton of free and cheap resources that would help me hone the skills I need to show off in my portfolio... I am astonished at how accurate this is for me. I'm so happy and so encouraged that I'm being sent this message of just go for it and that spirit has my back with this endeavor because I've tried so many times and different ways to restructure my life and it's just never worked out. I always knew I wanted to travel to this country and I never really knew why and all of the sudden having decided I was just going to go, so many things have fallen into place.
