    You have the most amazing way of explaining and showing how to do the stitches, not only showing how they go but what the instruction means eg k2 together etc. A lot of people assume we know how to do these but you don't. You also give us clear views of what you're talking about. Love your tutorials.

    Thanks so much for the tutorial, I'm new to knitting and my hat still turned out awesome!! I used 6mm bamboo needles with yarn that gave me the recommended gauge (11 sts = 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette stitch)
    I also made a larger hat that turned out great for anyone who wanted a hat with a larger circumference! For a circumference that is around 2" larger, I added 5 stitches to all the steps --> (so increase/decrease by an increment of 5 stitches if you want a larger/smaller circumference and still stick to the tutorial steps/ratio)
    * casting on = 54 stitches
    * increase row = 55 stitches
    * decrease rows = 44 > 33 > 22 > 11 stitches at the end
    This will most likely get buried in the comments, but hopefully it helps!

      @@sheepandstitch Thank you lady D.! This chickie won't be beat tho, I'm a crafter at heart so I started making greeting cards cause that's less taxing on my hands and it's fun. The last thing I knitted was the cable scarf I was telling you about, but I couldn't finish it cause of the pain, however it was just the right size for my teddy bear so he wears it now! hee heee LOL! It did turn out beautiful though. So no worries, I'll be crafting for as long as possible! You keep up the good work my dear, you have a forever fan in me! I'll always be cheering you on! Don't give it up just like that. Take some time off and your body will recover. 55 is YOUNG! Try to do some stretching and some exercise to build up some of the supporting muscles -- like not at the gym but just get some resistance stretchy bands and loop it over the bed post and do a few shoulder pulls every night before bed and every morning when you wake up. Hands (and feet) are a bit tougher because all the muscles are up in the arm, and it's 99% tendons & bones in the hand/fingers. You might want to look into a TENS unit (they are reasonable price online ... the Balego TENS 7000 is the basic no-frills, no-scam standard ant goes for $20-30). Get some smaller electrodes for your hand joints and start slow -- take the time to read the instructions and find good videos from physiologists you trust online (I'm not a physiologist... just another person who had posture / "middle age" getting soft issues and work to get over it as much as I can). If TENS isn't for you, also look things that will increase your circulation -- your body's way of healing. Diet. Keeping warm (my grandma used to crochet with fingerless gloves on... her hands had so much arthritis they looked like someone ran them over with a truck... but she was 90+ so who can complain). And also important... don't marathon knit (I'm guilty of this). Get up and move/stretch every 10-15 minutes. It makes a big difference how you feel when you finally put the work down at try to do someothing else. Good Luck!

      Did you use the same size needles (10mm size us 15), and a size 6 super bulky yarn? I also know I tend to knit in a different tension so my products are sometimes off since I don't always check my gauge in advance... maybe check after some rounds that you're measuring the same as she is. Thank you! I have learned so much from your videos! I started learning to knit 12-25-23 and I've made two scarves for myself, two for my dogs, and I just made this hat last night. I dropped a few stitches, but I was able to fix them quickly and easily. This was the first project that I did not have to redo at all. I didn't add the pom pom, it turned out better than expected. Seaming is something I need to practice. :)

    Thank you so much for this. I KNIT A HAT Y'ALL!!!!!! This tutorial is amazing, and I learned so much. I have been knitting for over a year now, and I learned how to do things way better than I've been doing them. I have never been able to seam anything nicely, and I am still impressed with how great of a job I did with this hat. Thanks to this video. A great job explaining everything, I didn't have any problems, questions, complaints, or concerns. Everything was detailed and well explained. My hat came out so great, and all of my family and friends are very impressed. I posted a picture of my finished hat on Instagram, and I tagged you in it. Thank you again so much for this.

    WOW!!! Thank you so much!!! I am a super beginner and decided to learn to knit to keep my hands and brain busy! I found your channel and it is PERFECT for beginners! Your voice is soothing and conversational and your explanations have taught me what I am looking at and given me an understanding rather than just going through the motions!! I loved this tutorial because it walks through reading a written pattern as well - which I needed!!! I get jammed up on what portions to repeat. (I'm constantly interrupted to I write out the line instruction so I can put down and pick up without skipping a stitch!) And reading through with you really helped to keep my place as I went! Two days ago I just had the urge to make a hat! I spent way too much time looking for a pattern. I really needed your guidance and I'm thrilled you did this!THANK YOU!!!!!

      Mathematically would make sense to do 55 stitches from the beginning, skip adding the additional stitch when stockinette, and do the decreasing as in here. You'll end with 11 stitches instead of 10. for every 5 stitches you add 1 at the final decrease. The first cast on stitches for it to work in that pattern must always be an odd number.

It can't even fit my 10 year old comfortably, and our heads are normal sized. :) I used your same yarn down to the brand and type. Do you know where my error was? Did I pull the stitches too tight? Otherwise it is so fantastic. I would love to make more, but larger this time.

    • @ClairityTech505
      @ClairityTech505 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should make sure you used the correct sized needles, and then look into how to do a swatch. If you used the exact same size needles and same brand and weight of yarn, you might be knitting really tight? But to be honest if it turned out that small, it could’ve been the yard weight or needle gauge.
