Hi. I bought the game recently and some nfc 213. I couldn't get the app to read the tags. NFC is on, i can read them in other apps and their are empty. But still don't understand what isn't working out
Thank you for making this video. I was missing 30 characters from the game and had been looking for ways to get them without spending a ridiculous amount of money. I bought a 100 pack of NTAG213 NFC stickers (so I'd have enough tags for characters and vehicles) and a 100 pack of coin capsules to put the stickers in to be able to move them around. Only cost me about $40, and the app worked like a charm. It's nice to finally be able to play as all the characters and go to all the worlds in this game. Thanks again for showing off this method and saving me some money.

I really hope LEGO Dimensions makes a return and gets a year 3 someday. There were 18 franchises that were rumored to be in year 3 and here they are 1. Looney Tunes 2. Godzilla 3. Despicable Me 4. Shrek 5. Captain Underpants 6. Avatar 7. Tom and Jerry 8. The Smurfs 9. Minecraft 10. Angry Birds 11. How to Train Your Dragon 12. King Kong 13. Tintin 14. Megaman 15. The Croods 16. Thunderbirds 17. Pirates of the Caribbean 18. Universal Monsters And they were going to use Lord Vortech as a playable character to end the 3 year game of fun. I would have loved to play as Godzilla in LEGO Dimensions. Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that LEGO Dimensions will be coming back and have a Year 3.
I hope it comes back too but I imagine it just costs far too much money to run things like this it’s why Disney Infinity had a similar run… it just exists for minimum of year or two and that’s it. It’s sad really :(
@@DeclanVidzIf only we could get LEGO Dimensions back, but without the toys-to-life format since that trend is dead sadly so no more Disney Infinity, Skylanders, and LEGO Dimensions. I’d happily pay for DLC to install on my gaming console to play LEGO Dimensions with all these cool characters without the unnecessary hassle of the toys and costliness of the product.

Just to share my experience, it seems that some NFC 213s are incompatible with this app. According to the vendor: "The 55 tags you received belong to NTAG213, but this chip format may not work for some applications." If you come across tags that can't be read by this app, Mifare++ should work. Unfortunately, it requires a little bit more work, but mostly just copy pasting. You can find a tutorial on how to use it on the Lego dimensions subreddit.
so this is going to make me seem dumb but doing this let’s you play all of the content for this game without having to actually own any of the extra stuff for it to 100% complete
The reason why some people here are commenting that the tags are not working is because they are not NXP brand. The ones being sold are Chinese Shanghai Feiju chips. If you use NFC Tools app or the NXP Tag info.... you will see that the manufacturer will be Shangai and not NXP. You will also see that the IC type will be Unknown IC and not NTAG213. The only tag that will work with Lego Dimensions is the NXP NTAG213. Before you buy please ask if they are NXP or Chinese brand. Here is a reply from Amazon seller: We are really sorry for that. We changed the IC manufacturers into a Chinese manufacturer in this May. So the 28 pcs item you bought are NXP Semiconductor chips, the 55pcs one are the Chinese manufacturer made chips. Please don't worry, the IC of the 55pcs items are also NTAG213 chips. And the IC of the 55pcs one can only be measured its NTAG213 information by the professional NFC reader equipment. The Chinese -made chips are compatible in the most NFC-enabled applications, but they may not compatible in some individual applications, such as Lego dimensions. Since there are still some tocks of two different chip manufacturers in the Amazon warehouse, and we cannot distinguish them. In this case, it is recommended that you return the goods. I actually used these and I believe that any 213 tags will work they don’t have to be a specific brand. As long as they’re 213 NFC Tags with 144 bytes on them you’ll have no issues.
today I learned the ps4 and xbox versions of the game had a different way to get to the shard I originally played this on the wii u which just got an orange portal :') gonna try this once my game and portal gets here for the ps4 version got a 50 tag thing- I might need a few more for completionist sake

I bought the ntag213 and they worked and I was able to call the doctor of the doctor who in the game but he didn't release the universe of the doctor who could explain to me? For example, when I go on the vortex, even though I call the character by the tags, the world is not released.
Hi, I have a question. With what phones does this app work? Because Im trying the app In an Android device (it only makes a sound but doesnt allow me to select any charachter ) How can I fix this problem?
The phone has to have NFC enabled or have an option that allows you to rewrite the tags… something like an iPhone would not work for this reason since iPhones don’t have options like that. Most androids should have it by pulling down the notification bar or control centre for androids if you will and it should be in there somewhere.
@@hibudy82 the sticker ones are like 24p each per sticker so you’re paying per sticker there, the NFC cardboard type ones are a bit more sturdy but they’re more expensive but you get around 10 of those!
Idk what console you're using but usually it'll work if you have all the updates or close and reopen the game again and put whatever character has the problem back on the toy pad. Sometimes it'll happen if you put year 9 characters or vehicles etc. If you have too many characters on the toy pad that'll effect it etc.

I've purchased the Nfc213 tags from Amazon and the legotag reader will not pick up any of them, any ideas what I'm doing wrong? The description from Amazon has all the specs that the tag needs. Your video was great Any help available would be wonderful.
Hmmm that’s odd, I’d check to see if you’ve turned NFC on your phone! Make sure it’s on the back where the reader is so when you do that it’ll vibrate the phone and it basically lets you know it’s connected to the NFC
just got the tags today (similar nfc 213) but when i lace them on my phone it vibrates but does nothing. lego dimensions app doesn't open that character page to chose it just stays on place phone on token screen. i have a pixel pro 6

I figured it out and I can get characters but now my problem is it says I need to download content for certain characters. I'm on the Xbox 360. I know the store is closed but is there a way to still do this? For example my kids can't play with Raven or Jake. they need an update.
So what happens on my end is, the app reads the tag (Android vibrates and beeps), I tap on write, select character, says put the tag on the back, vibrates and beeps again and the app shows the selectes charters (I guess it's written), but when I out them in the pad, nothing happens
@@angemoncommandexx it’s like this for some others and was the exact same for me buddy, it’s very weird, it does work you just have to try a different one. It doesn’t mean your tags are broken it’s just the app and the tags I just think they don’t sometimes connect properly… many of mine did that exact thing :) hope it helps

The other behave like the ones in your video, but when on the pad, nothing happens. Also, the ones you have, I can order them cause Amazon doesn't ship does to Serbia, so yeah...

Is this on iPhone as you did post an earlier comment and if it is I’m not sure how to help you if it’s Android… try a different one, that’s what I had to do on the odd occasion.

I also have NFC Tools loaded and it seems to allow you to "Erase Tag" to write a new character to it and I don't have to restart the game.

Move it about a bit, it’s very finicky, it will eventually work, try turning NFC on and off and eventually the menu will pop up allowing you to write on the tag!
Keep shimmying it around eventually it will pick it up, I’ve said this to someone else just before and it happened to me, it will eventually register the tag and if it doesn’t just try another one, sometimes I’d have 1 or 2 that would do that

@@DeclanVidz an s21 or s22, also is the download for the dlc still available on the PlayStation store? Edit: I figured out how to get the nfc activated, I got the ps4 version with the Wii U starter pack because I read that the portal is cross compatible between everything but the Xboxes.
I have the base ones for like the main four and a couple more can those be on the pad at the same time with the sticker tags?? like have the base batman character and also a random character/ vehicle but on the sticker type??
@@Aimee_Mc both were fine in terms of the stickers but I had a fan on sometimes so the sticker type ones since they were paper would sometimes blow off the board but really not an issue at all just put it back on but the card type ones obviously being card don’t have that issue… both work fine just depends how many you want and how much you plan to do. I was going for the completion in this game so I wasn’t overly fussed about owning every single character but if you’re really worried you could always try both? As for your other question yes… I had some of the base characters on at times and some of the ones I wanted to use from the app thing and it worked fine

I am upset. I bought a lego dimensions with 100 FNCTAG 213 and when I downloaded the apk from your link and installed it, the third screen to install the character on the chip tag does not appear. What to do?
Sorry, NFC tags 213 (china). I activated the NFC function and carried out tests with about 10 tags. One only opened a window with the information: "IT'S EMPTY". I'm going to buy another Tag model to test and if it works I'll sell the ones I bought. I bought it solely for Lego Dimensions. Thanks for the feedback. If another model works I'll come back here.

question I bought the game for ps3 came with the full set I skipped the update for the game and I’m at the point where I’m trying to summon the Batmobile but when I switch to Batman it’s not letting idk if it’s cause I didn’t update my game fully but yeah that’s been happening also I have order another copy for the ps4/5 rn but yeah that’s the issue I’m having on the ps3
@@statquofan mine did that, just gotta try another one or sometimes turning on and off the nfc can fix that or just messing around with the tag and app, it’s nothing too complicated, it’s just the app can be hit and miss
The level packs are the characters and the vehicles… so usually when you NFC a character to them it recognises that’s from a level pack and will offer to download that to. You’ll have to understand it’s been a good couple years nearly now since I did this so could be a bit wrong but usually when I wanted the DLC packs it would offer the level packs too if I remember correctly
I think that you cant buy 144 byte ones because it only has 137 bytes in NDEF format. So you should buy 180 byte ones. Correct me if im wrong. PS: did you really use those in the description?
Hey Declan, I just received my Ntag213 tags and for whatever reason when I open the tag editor app and click read, my phone will vibrate, meaning it recognises the tag but won’t do anything with it on the app. I know that this tag works because I have an app that reads it and the tag is able to be read and says it is able to be written on. So I don’t know what the problem is, do you by any chance?
Honestly sounds like a similar issue I had you’ve got to just shimmy the tag around until the app allows you to change it, then you know you’re able to edit the tag and take off the tag and it should work. It really is a bit finnicky but eventually should work and I apologise for the delay in responding!
When i try to download the app it says harmful app blocked, ive tried to figure things out but i couldnt find anything and by the way i have a galaxy s10+
@@SuperNoob45932 you need to allow unknown apps to be installed, by default there’s like a thing you have on android that doesn’t allow untrusted apps until you allow it then you can install it
I'm having a bit of trouble I bought some NTAG 213 sticker ones of Ebay and each time I load up the app it will just vibrate and not do anything I tried moving it around but to no avail
@@BibJib are they 144 bytes 213? If so just keep trying, the app as I said is very finicky, try a different one, sometimes turning NFC on and off or WiFi on and off, closing the LEGO tag editor app etc.
@BibJib it could be that, I got told to use 144 bytes so that it can fit the character into the tag, you may have got the right tag but not the right byte size
It was a pain to work, but i used the v2 of the app and used my nfc tags that i use for amiibos, and after a few tries i had a unikitty character on it, but i cant change it

Is it possible to have, for example, NFC 215 because I don't know because apparently it says to me that you are not smart because it just tells me that it doesn't exist but I don't know if it is possible or not, I think it is probably possible or not
I’ve tried this and unfortunately whenever I try to put something like a companion cube or turret on the pad it says “An update is required to access this content”
@@saikotamagachi7884 you have to download the updates and dlc's, they won't show on the store, you have to access them through the game in the main menu (of the console) or the main menu (of the game)
@@saikotamagachi7884 I had a similar issue with that with some of the level packs, I’m really trying to remember but it was a bit over a year nearly two now but I had a couple issues where that popped up but sorted it from what I remember.
I have every character except for Newt. He isn't working. My nfc chip reads and says it needs an update is required to use this content. Tina works perfectly fine and I can reach the fantastic beasts world. I reached the latest update of the game so not sure what to do. Do you know if something wrong might have happened? P.S I'm using my PS4 version onto my PS5
You may need to just install the pack, when I did that on Xbox it either wanted me to download the pack necessary for that character or you’re trying to overwrite one. You can overwrite them over and over but you have to quit the game first I believe to change the ID on the tag again!
Unfortunately it did not work for me, I bought some nfc 213 tags, which my phone itself can read, but the app refuses to read them. Is it possible, that the app no longer works?
@@lolf05 I have had people in here in 2024 telling me this still works, it really isn’t a tough process and as said in the video it can be fiddly but it does still work. You may need to try a different tag, turning NFC on and off, redownloading the app, make sure you get a vibration on the back of the phone and wait for it to fully pop onto the tag
Hey, can someone help me with a specific problem? I recently rewriten a tag into one character. I want to re-write it into another, but it won't work. I even tried using another nfc app to try and wipe the data, but it's still stuck as that character. Any pointers?
Reloading the game helped me. If you keep the tags on the pad after you’ve already wrote on them then they’ll stay as that but if you want to change them you want to quit the game, take the tags off and change them… launch the game then try the tags with something different and it should work.

can the tag be reset? I have 1 tag and I programmed doctor who on it. When I'm programming for someone else, doctor who still shows up. Can it be reset somehow?

Hello Declan, ordered some nfc tags off amazon the 23's came today downloaded the app. It did say it could be harmful to my device though. Installed it all and the nfc is on I used it on s20 and s24 and all it does it vibrate it doesn't go any further to the customization screen and the some times when keep trying 2 move it it says it can't read the tag. Any help is it the app?
It could honestly be anything, a lot of the time just toggling those options on and off can fix it, sometimes you may need an entirely different device, some of my tags did the same it really was a case of just cycling through them, I don’t know why the app is like that but eventually 1 of the tags will work

Well that’s entirely up to you. I can’t change your mind but I used it and I downloaded it from a link in someone else’s video so I put myself at risk initially but I can only assure you it’s not. I don’t really know what else to say or convince otherwise. The software works. It’s real. It’s an app only for android since android only supports APK files as iPhone’s don’t.

I got the characters working but I was unable to access the year 2 worlds. I couldn’t find any way to download them off of the PlayStation store (I’m on ps5). Do you know why this might be
I've been since I launched the LEGO and I was too small and didn't know how to snap the DLCs, do you know this works on the PlayStation 5? if yes let me know because I'm not sure.

Try a different tag, or turn NFC back on and off, it’s just being a bit daft when it does that, it did it to me loads of times but eventually it will write it, you just have to keep at it and eventually it will write onto the tag… that’s why I got a few as sometimes 1 would act dodgy out of 10 for example even though that 1 actually had no issues it was just the app being daft and not registering the tag sometimes lol
@DeclansGuides I bought a pack of 50 and I must've ran through all of them at least 3 times. I also turned off and on NFC about every time and it still didn't work. I read online that the app only like certain types of tags so maybe that's the issue.

@@coolace7775 you should be able to do everything fine, as long as they’re 213 and 144 bytes that’s the important part, have you tried turning the app off and reopening it again and also make sure you wait and try that

Nope! You can use the same ones! You just have to quit the game as the game will get confused if you overwrite the tag you’ve already placed on there with another one… think of it as a refresh… if you try to put the same one on there but you’ve changed it it’ll only show the one you put there first but when you quit the game and reload it basically forgets what was on the tag until you put it on the board allowin you to just rewrite it over and over however many times you like. I only had 10 and I was able to reuse them and if I ran out I would quit the game and before putting the tags on again I would make sure I wanna change them if I needed to

Ok so I have an Samsung phone but it’s an old one it’s a galaxy note 9 I tried it and it wasn’t reading the tag I had the nfc thing turned on in settings and everything
That does seem bizarre have you tried turning off the phone, uninstalling, reinstalling the app, turn off NFC and turn it back on, try messing around with that… try turning it on and then putting a tag on or just try a tag first then turn on nfc, try it all.

That’s odd, it should be the other way around, do the characters work on the board then if you use 215 and are you choosing the 213 option not the 215 option on the app
i feel like an idiot... i use an xiaomi redmi note 8 (doesn't have nfc) so i did some research on cheap smartphones that do support nfc: success bought a sony xperia m for like 10€ shipped - but it completely ignores apks! download folder shows the size, but nothing inside. damn it! but at least something for the sony collection D; then i asked pretty much the only friend with a nfc-phone oO (samsung galaxy s9+) and guess what? i can choose the character/vehicle (menu at 9:45), but nothing beyond 😂🥲 no vibrations (weren't turned off) or anything which phone did you use?

Did not expect this video to receive anywhere near as many views as it did. Hi. I bought the game recently and some nfc 213. I couldn't get the app to read the tags. NFC is on, i can read them in other apps and their are empty. But still don't understand what isn't working out
Thank you for making this video. I was missing 30 characters from the game and had been looking for ways to get them without spending a ridiculous amount of money. I bought a 100 pack of NTAG213 NFC stickers (so I'd have enough tags for characters and vehicles) and a 100 pack of coin capsules to put the stickers in to be able to move them around. Only cost me about $40, and the app worked like a charm. It's nice to finally be able to play as all the characters and go to all the worlds in this game. Thanks again for showing off this method and saving me some money.

Just to share my experience, it seems that some NFC 213s are incompatible with this app. According to the vendor: "The 55 tags you received belong to NTAG213, but this chip format may not work for some applications." If you come across tags that can't be read by this app, Mifare++ should work. Unfortunately, it requires a little bit more work, but mostly just copy pasting. You can find a tutorial on how to use it on the Lego dimensions subreddit.

The reason why some people here are commenting that the tags are not working is because they are not NXP brand. The ones being sold are Chinese Shanghai Feiju chips. If you use NFC Tools app or the NXP Tag info.... you will see that the manufacturer will be Shangai and not NXP. You will also see that the IC type will be Unknown IC and not NTAG213. The only tag that will work with Lego Dimensions is the NXP NTAG213. Before you buy please ask if they are NXP or Chinese brand. Here is a reply from Amazon seller:
We are really sorry for that. We changed the IC manufacturers into a Chinese manufacturer in this May. So the 28 pcs item you bought are NXP Semiconductor chips, the 55pcs one are the Chinese manufacturer made chips. Please don't worry, the IC of the 55pcs items are also NTAG213 chips. And the IC of the 55pcs one can only be measured its NTAG213 information by the professional NFC reader equipment. The Chinese -made chips are compatible in the most NFC-enabled applications, but they may not compatible in some individual applications, such as Lego dimensions. Since there are still some tocks of two different chip manufacturers in the Amazon warehouse, and we cannot distinguish them. In this case, it is recommended that you return the goods. I actually used these and I believe that any 213 tags will work they don’t have to be a specific brand. As long as they’re 213 NFC Tags with 144 bytes on them you’ll have no issues.
today I learned the ps4 and xbox versions of the game had a different way to get to the shard I originally played this on the wii u which just got an orange portal :') gonna try this once my game and portal gets here for the ps4 version got a 50 tag thing- I might need a few more for completionist sake

I bought the ntag213 and they worked and I was able to call the doctor of the doctor who in the game but he didn't release the universe of the doctor who could explain to me? For example, when I go on the vortex, even though I call the character by the tags, the world is not released.

Hi, I have a question. With what phones does this app work? Because Im trying the app In an Android device (it only makes a sound but doesnt allow me to select any charachter ) How can I fix this problem?
The phone has to have NFC enabled or have an option that allows you to rewrite the tags… something like an iPhone would not work for this reason since iPhones don’t have options like that. Most androids should have it by pulling down the notification bar or control centre for androids if you will and it should be in there somewhere.

@@hibudy82 the sticker ones are like 24p each per sticker so you’re paying per sticker there, the NFC cardboard type ones are a bit more sturdy but they’re more expensive but you get around 10 of those!

If I put the nfc on the platform, the character doesn’t show up and it says you need to have an update.
Have you tried another tag instead?
Idk what console you're using but usually it'll work if you have all the updates or close and reopen the game again and put whatever character has the problem back on the toy pad. Sometimes it'll happen if you put year 9 characters or vehicles etc. If you have too many characters on the toy pad that'll effect it etc.
Also for vehicles it’s saying required an update to access content

I've purchased the Nfc213 tags from Amazon and the legotag reader will not pick up any of them, any ideas what I'm doing wrong? The description from Amazon has all the specs that the tag needs. Your video was great Any help available would be wonderful.
Hmmm that’s odd, I’d check to see if you’ve turned NFC on your phone! Make sure it’s on the back where the reader is so when you do that it’ll vibrate the phone and it basically lets you know it’s connected to the NFC
just got the tags today (similar nfc 213) but when i lace them on my phone it vibrates but does nothing. lego dimensions app doesn't open that character page to chose it just stays on place phone on token screen. i have a pixel pro 6

I figured it out and I can get characters but now my problem is it says I need to download content for certain characters. I'm on the Xbox 360. I know the store is closed but is there a way to still do this? For example my kids can't play with Raven or Jake. they need an update.

So what happens on my end is, the app reads the tag (Android vibrates and beeps), I tap on write, select character, says put the tag on the back, vibrates and beeps again and the app shows the selectes charters (I guess it's written), but when I out them in the pad, nothing happens
@@angemoncommandexx it’s like this for some others and was the exact same for me buddy, it’s very weird, it does work you just have to try a different one. It doesn’t mean your tags are broken it’s just the app and the tags I just think they don’t sometimes connect properly… many of mine did that exact thing :) hope it helps

Got it to work, wasn't pressing up when the Red Lantern portrait appeared, was just releasing the button. Doh!

I bought nfc213 in different stores, but in the application only the sound of tag detection is heard. The menu with characters does not open.
Move it about a bit, it’s very finicky, it will eventually work, try turning NFC on and off and eventually the menu will pop up allowing you to write on the tag!
Would this app work on an android emulator with an external nfc reader?
I really don’t know, safest best is to try and let us know. I didn’t do it like that so it’s hard for me to say sorry.

Keep shimmying it around eventually it will pick it up, I’ve said this to someone else just before and it happened to me, it will eventually register the tag and if it doesn’t just try another one, sometimes I’d have 1 or 2 that would do that

@@Aimee_Mc both were fine in terms of the stickers but I had a fan on sometimes so the sticker type ones since they were paper would sometimes blow off the board but really not an issue at all just put it back on but the card type ones obviously being card don’t have that issue… both work fine just depends how many you want and how much you plan to do. I was going for the completion in this game so I wasn’t overly fussed about owning every single character but if you’re really worried you could always try both?
As for your other question yes… I had some of the base characters on at times and some of the ones I wanted to use from the app thing and it worked fine

Sorry, NFC tags 213 (china). I activated the NFC function and carried out tests with about 10 tags. One only opened a window with the information: "IT'S EMPTY". What about level packs?
The level packs are the characters and the vehicles… so usually when you NFC a character to them it recognises that’s from a level pack and will offer to download that to.
You’ll have to understand it’s been a good couple years nearly now since I did this so could be a bit wrong but usually when I wanted the DLC packs it would offer the level packs too if I remember correctly

I think that you cant buy 144 byte ones because it only has 137 bytes in NDEF format. So you should buy 180 byte ones. Correct me if im wrong. PS: did you really use those in the description?

Hey Declan, I just received my Ntag213 tags and for whatever reason when I open the tag editor app and click read, my phone will vibrate, meaning it recognises the tag but won’t do anything with it on the app. I know that this tag works because I have an app that reads it and the tag is able to be read and says it is able to be written on. So I don’t know what the problem is, do you by any chance?

Honestly sounds like a similar issue I had you’ve got to just shimmy the tag around until the app allows you to change it, then you know you’re able to edit the tag and take off the tag and it should work. It really is a bit finnicky but eventually should work and I apologise for the delay in responding!

@BibJib it could be that, I got told to use 144 bytes so that it can fit the character into the tag, you may have got the right tag but not the right byte size

@@saikotamagachi7884 you have to download the updates and dlc's, they won't show on the store, you have to access them through the game in the main menu (of the console) or the main menu (of the game)

@@saikotamagachi7884 I had a similar issue with that with some of the level packs, I’m really trying to remember but it was a bit over a year nearly two now but I had a couple issues where that popped up but sorted it from what I remember.
I have every character except for Newt. He isn't working. My nfc chip reads and says it needs an update is required to use this content. Tina works perfectly fine and I can reach the fantastic beasts world. I reached the latest update of the game so not sure what to do. Do you know if something wrong might have happened? P.S I'm using my PS4 version onto my PS5
You may need to just install the pack, when I did that on Xbox it either wanted me to download the pack necessary for that character or you’re trying to overwrite one. You can overwrite them over and over but you have to quit the game first I believe to change the ID on the tag again!
Can you reply with data for sonic? I am an iOS user so I have a nfc reader app but can’t use this app since it’s not on iOS

Unfortunately it did not work for me, I bought some nfc 213 tags, which my phone itself can read, but the app refuses to read them. Is it possible, that the app no longer works?
@@lolf05 I have had people in here in 2024 telling me this still works, it really isn’t a tough process and as said in the video it can be fiddly but it does still work. You may need to try a different tag, turning NFC on and off, redownloading the app, make sure you get a vibration on the back of the phone and wait for it to fully pop onto the tag

I recently rewriten a tag into one character. I want to re-write it into another, but it won't work.
I even tried using another nfc app to try and wipe the data, but it's still stuck as that character.
Any pointers?
Reloading the game helped me. If you keep the tags on the pad after you’ve already wrote on them then they’ll stay as that but if you want to change them you want to quit the game, take the tags off and change them… launch the game then try the tags with something different and it should work.
I don't know why but it's not overwriting the empty NFC tags, any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Have you got NFC turned on ?
The tags are not working is because they are not NXP brand. The ones being sold are Chinese Shanghai Feiju chips. If you use NFC Tools app or the NXP Tag info.... you will see that the manufacturer will be Shangai and not NXP. You will also see that the IC type will be Unknown IC and not NTAG213. The only tag that will work with Lego Dimensions is the NXP NTAG213. Before you buy please ask if they are NXP or Chinese brand.

Hey all the app stuff works fine and I can write the characters but when i place it on the toy pad it says an update is required to access this content? My game is fully updated and its ps4 version ? Any suggestions?
If you see in the video mine does say the same… just ignore it and it should go away and should pop up prompting an install for the actual DLC
can the tag be reset? I have 1 tag and I programmed doctor who on it. When I'm programming for someone else, doctor who still shows up. Can it be reset somehow?
To reset the tag you will have to quit the game and reload it!

Yeah try a few of the others and your English is fine. Some of mine were the same. Not all of them will be like that.

Hello Declan, ordered some nfc tags off amazon the 23's came today downloaded the app. It did say it could be harmful to my device though. Installed it all and the nfc is on I used it on s20 and s24 and all it does it vibrate it doesn't go any further to the customization screen and the some times when keep trying 2 move it it says it can't read the tag. Any help is it the app?
It could honestly be anything, a lot of the time just toggling those options on and off can fix it, sometimes you may need an entirely different device, some of my tags did the same it really was a case of just cycling through them, I don’t know why the app is like that but eventually 1 of the tags will work

Well that’s entirely up to you. I can’t change your mind but I used it and I downloaded it from a link in someone else’s video so I put myself at risk initially but I can only assure you it’s not. I don’t really know what else to say or convince otherwise. The software works. It’s real. It’s an app only for android since android only supports APK files as iPhone’s don’t.

I got the characters working but I was unable to access the year 2 worlds. I couldn’t find any way to download them off of the PlayStation store (I’m on ps5). Do you know why this might be
On Xbox it was a pop up that should give you the ability to download the entire pack as the game recognised it for me…

Hi, when i scan my tag on the app my phone vibrates but does not give me the menu to change the character or vehicle.

Try a different tag, or turn NFC back on and off, it’s just being a bit daft when it does that, it did it to me loads of times but eventually it will write it, you just have to keep at it and eventually it will write onto the tag… that’s why I got a few as sometimes 1 would act dodgy out of 10 for example even though that 1 actually had no issues it was just the app being daft and not registering the tag sometimes lol
@DeclansGuides I bought a pack of 50 and I must've ran through all of them at least 3 times. I also turned off and on NFC about every time and it still didn't work. I read online that the app only like certain types of tags so maybe that's the issue.

Hi Declan I need help I bought on Amazon in the US the 28 pcs NFC Stickers NTAG213 with 144 Bytes Memory, 25mm White Rewritable NFC Tags Sticker, Fully Programmable Round RFID Tag, Works with Android and Other NFC-Enabled Devices and got the app on my sister old Samsung galaxy edge 6 I have the app and it did the sound of beep i put the character in the thing cause it beep I placed it on toy pad nothing happens sigh 😞

@@coolace7775 you should be able to do everything fine, as long as they’re 213 and 144 bytes that’s the important part, have you tried turning the app off and reopening it again and also make sure you wait and try that

My phone just vibrates whenever I try this with any of my nfc tags. Does it maybe work with the base nfc tags I get from the game like batman?
It doesn’t and on the odd occasion the tags just did the exact same to me you’ll see in the video I’m pretty sure it happened to me as I was trying to show it off. Sometimes you just have to try a different one… it’s just a bit finicky and iffy to work but it does work as I say that happened to me hence why you get about 10 and just swap and change them around every now and then!
Would i need to get more tags? If i want to keep characters on a specific tag but also want some vehicles
Nope! You can use the same ones! You just have to quit the game as the game will get confused if you overwrite the tag you’ve already placed on there with another one… think of it as a refresh… if you try to put the same one on there but you’ve changed it it’ll only show the one you put there first but when you quit the game and reload it basically forgets what was on the tag until you put it on the board allowin you to just rewrite it over and over however many times you like. I only had 10 and I was able to reuse them and if I ran out I would quit the game and before putting the tags on again I would make sure I wanna change them if I needed to

Ok so I have an Samsung phone but it’s an old one it’s a galaxy note 9 I tried it and it wasn’t reading the tag I had the nfc thing turned on in settings and everything
That does seem bizarre have you tried turning off the phone, uninstalling, reinstalling the app, turn off NFC and turn it back on, try messing around with that… try turning it on and then putting a tag on or just try a tag first then turn on nfc, try it all.

That’s odd, it should be the other way around, do the characters work on the board then if you use 215 and are you choosing the 213 option not the 215 option on the app

i use an xiaomi redmi note 8 (doesn't have nfc) so i did some research on cheap smartphones that do support nfc: success
bought a sony xperia m for like 10€ shipped - but it completely ignores apks! download folder shows the size, but nothing inside. damn it! but at least something for the sony collection D;
then i asked pretty much the only friend with a nfc-phone oO (samsung galaxy s9+) and guess what? i can choose the character/vehicle (menu at 9:45), but nothing beyond 😂🥲 no vibrations (weren't turned off) or anything
