I have just started running and heard about this guy, looking at his back story in a day and age where athletes are almost
computer programmed with every bit of tech and analysis at their disposal it is very refreshing to see a working class hero doing
    so well.
He cannot even accept sponsorship monies due to his job in Japan and works 40 hours a week. By all accounts he seems like a decent fella also... Chapeau..

    And he's not east african.

he races almost every week, using race as training. besides that he averages around 80 mi per week. everything he does seems challenging the traditional training ideas. i think he is one of a kind.

Yeah the difference is instead of high mileage he HITS IT each and every single run. There are no easy sessions with this guy. You have to have a super strong base to train like this and not get injured.

So cool to see the road runners having an impact. I ran with them as a kid and they helped me get into running. Great stuff
