What a fine job your folks did in raising such a fine and decent young man! Please extend my compliment from one parent to another. I am so very proud of you and the amazing progress I have witnessed over the past view years. Michael Weeks, San Antonio, Texas
Hey skipper do you find it really hard when it starts to rain and you can't get out to do some fishing ps from your biggest fan Hamish Campbell Hyde I live in wellington in new Zealand
You inspired me to go surf fishing for the first time! I haven’t caught anything yet but I will with the things you’ve taught this community. Thanks man you a real G
@HeySkipper I hear you, as much as I am an advocate of leaving wildlife alone and letting nature rule, I cannot stand by and watch animals suffer due to the negative influence of humans. I found myself one time trying to save carp from a drying up pond and walked over a few to a healthy pond while knee deep in mud
Good job saving the competition, well done. This show's what good parents you have and what a good heart you have. My mom caught a dungeness crab on a Marshmello, over 45 years ago in Bellacola British Columbia.
My vietnamese brothers here in California use the mini marshmallows+shrimp to catch stocked catfish and it works very well. I thought it was because it helps the shrimp float above any vegetation but I guess they like the smell/taste of marshmallows as well😂
Thank you for being a beautiful human being and saving this wonderful pelican. I'm going fishing tomorrow and will try the marshmallows. Blessings. Warm hugs from Miami, Florida. Love fishing 🎣 ♥
I’m starting to think when you test these baits maybe it’s just you! 😂 Seems like you guys catch fish on anything! Bought a few rigs and bait for and upcoming trip. Can’t wait to try them out. 🤘🏻Thanks for the videos! Really informative and must take a lot of work.
Another great video. Especially saving the pelican. You guys are great people for doing that Where do you guys fish. Just curious of what state you are fishing in. Tyvm
That pelican things is what makes the difference between a good and a great channel, and the difference between just a view or a view, a like and a sub. Good job. As an former Dutch beach fisherman myself I do have to admit that's it's not also unfortunately not always so black-and-white. We have these huge greedy seagulls that will attack whatever you're trying to pull in or even when your casting out they'll try to snatch it from the air. Often they'll get stuck but they'll peck at your line and so it cuts and they end up in the water far out of reach. So it doesn't have to be a left out gear but also a fish that got away, died with the line still on it and get picks up a bird or other animal.
Hint: Open the marshmallows and let them dry out, they stay on tbe hook better and longer. They also work great in conjunction with salmon eggs, cheese and worms, at least fresh water.
damn awesome you guys found that pelican when you did... i always carry my old grocery bags in my fishing backpack anytime im go fishing, so i can store my trash from snacks, drinks, and lines until i get home.... wish more fishermen could do the same, if you can take your trash there, you can take your trash back
I know I am late on this video, but a few suggestions for future videos. 1. Hotdogs 2. Sweet Potato 3. Pepperoni 4. Fresh garlic 5. Meatballs 6. Orange Chicken 7. Bananas. I know, I am weird. 😂 But if you are going with gimmick baits to see if it works, might as well try everything possible.
😊Glad you were there to find and help that poor little pelican. People that don't care about their very own trash suck. Always find so much trash in the Port Aransas area. I wish people cared more.
I'm guessing that line the bird got caught in was broken off from a snagged line, not left intentionally. I do wonder how long snagged lines that break off on stuff stays intact. It would be cool if it broke down relatively soon so as not to tangle birds, turtles, etc. Only thing is I imagine string that did that would be very strong!
Up in Canada the line you use to secure your bait on the hook is called Spider Thread. We also shore fish a bit differently. We first pu on an egg sinker which has a hole though the center. Then we attach a two eye swivel. then the required amount of leader you need. Then your hook with the bait. This way, when the fish takes the bait it does not feel the weight of the sinker, when pulling the line. This gives the fish a better chance to swallow the bait.
We have fished with Marshmallows for trout for years. We met an old timer in Colorado and he taught us how to die the marshmallows. His wife was recently deceased and he said when he got off work she would have many colors already made up and told him they were going camping. Sounded like a good women.
Friend and I did the same to a blue heron that was tangled in line that was tangled around a tree. Poor thing was all wrapped up. We covered it with a jacket while we cut it free. That was after we called DNR and waited 2 hours for them to finally call me back and say they couldn't get out to the lake. I couldn't let that thing sit there and die.
The Pelican says, the leg's a little bit sore but it'll work. Primarily marshmallows are a freshwater bait, But that did make for an interesting video, because it's something I would never have thought to try!
I'm from Los Angeles, CA. and I'm about to turn 58 years old in a couple of weeks. I grew up about a mile from the beach and also my parents had a second house in the local mountains about a two hour drive from our main home. I did a lot of fishing both saltwater and fresh water all my life and using all sorts of bait. Using miniature marshmallows is a very old school bait. I'm talking as one of the first baits I was taught to use at around five or six years old, so 50 years or more. The colored miniature marshmallows, don't know if they still make those colored ones anymore, work better than the white ones. They work for Rainbow Trout very well in lakes and rivers, streams, and Small Mouth Bass will bite at them as well. Catfish will bite but there are better baits for all these fish. The cost is really a good reason for using the marshmallows. You get a large bag for a couple of dollars and even if you double up the bait on a hook you still get about 75 fresh bait casts. I never tried using them in saltwater fishing. It didn't seem to make sense, honestly. Live bait or cuts of fish or squid or deep water lures and jigs work best depending on what you are fishing for. But miniature marshmallows are a very old school bait, nothing new about using them.
I am so glad you saved that pelican. Too many people leave their crap laying around. When I fish, my philosophy has always been to try and leave no trace that you were ever there.
I'm using the neon yellow pompano jig call Doc-Jigs 3/8 oz.with pink teaser. Just threw it out and jigging it in Ft.Desoto park and sun shine skyway fishing pier in St Petersburg, Florida
Have you fished with chicken liver? If so have you used the elastic thread to secure the liver on the hook. I wanted to ask if the elastic thread would hold a soft bait like chicken liver on the hook??
What a fine job your folks did in raising such a fine and decent young man! Please extend my compliment from one parent to another. I am so very proud of you and the amazing progress I have witnessed over the past view years. Michael Weeks, San Antonio, Texas

So good to see some people doing the right thing.
Great work! So much better than a great day fishing when you are able to help a creature survive and prosper
Thank you!
That bird probably would have died if I didn’t show up:(

I started watching this just because I wanted to know how the marshmallows worked. Then you became my hero by helping the pelican.

I'm sure you covered this setup elsewhere. What rod reel line setup are you using?

Rescue Ranger… Good Job. Keep it up.
Right on man. That's cool
Good job with the Pelican !
God bless you guys. For saving that poor bird.
God bless you n your family 🙏👍
Does the invisithread dissolve or something? Otherwise aren't you just polluting the water once it unwinds itself?
That pelican save earned you many likes from me.
Hey hey skipper, can u make a video of u catching worm at the beach use it for fishing pls
Great job saving the pelican…we were taught as kids (62 now) about fishing awareness and safety… especially since we were mountain trout fishermen…
Kickass job with the pelican. Thank you...
Nice rod holder set-ups, gave me an idea. 👌👍
Not only learning how to approach an injured bird, but a lesson on how to find the right spot for surf fishing.
Where are u guys fishing at Florida or The Carolina’s
The cats are good! Lol 😂
Thank you for saving that pelican! That made my day! No , i'm going to be using those Marshmallows This coming sunday
I shared this to my Facebook!!
what do you have hanging on your surf spikes for storage?
You should try comparing whiting, blue fish, and catfish head/ cut bait for bigger fish…
We used the elastic thread years ago to keep salmon roe on the hook.
It's like a peep!!! 😆😆😆

❤❤❤❤❤ for bird....you are heroes🎉🎉🎉🎉
That was very kind of you in freeing that bird skipper
I also cover the fish's heads with a towel to take hooks out.
It calms them down a lot
very educational also glad you caught some...
Hint: Open the marshmallows and let them dry out, they stay on tbe hook better and longer. They also work great in conjunction with salmon eggs, cheese and worms, at least fresh water.
How do you keep the bikes from corroding from the salt and sand? Keep up the fun videos!
Love the rescue!

Thanks I see people just leave their trash along the beach, pier and a pond shore. I don't get it. There are trash cans on the walk back to their car.
I LOVE CATFISH! SEND THEM TO ME! 😂😂😂❤
You’re such a good man 🙏🏻
Blessing Skipper the true teacher Learned a lot from You bless up if you are ever in Jamaica hit me up.
I'm definitely going to try this, marshmallows are definitely easier to buy 😅

We use to use mini marshmallows here to catch fresh water trout
Use the multi colored minis for trout so can test diff colors plus eat em like you did. Great vid man

Haven't you heard, its the toasted camp fire fish that goes for those marshmallows 😅

GRANDE 🎣
What type of rod and reel is that set up?
They could just be going after the pink shrimp......
TRY THE GULP SAND FLEAS & BLOOD WORMS ...THE GULP ALIVE BLOOD WORMS
You can actually by Colored ones at the store! Color goes all the way through them.
I'm using the neon yellow pompano jig call Doc-Jigs 3/8 oz.with pink teaser. Just threw it out and jigging it in Ft.Desoto park and sun shine skyway fishing pier in St Petersburg, Florida
Where abouts is this? Lots of great photography opportunities.
Hey, Grat Video you need a bell on the rod
VERY GOOD
Catfish are delicious too. Maybe the others are more delicious?

I like your lessons and videos and I like you even more. 💪🏽
