      A competent defense attorney would've objected. A great defense attorney would've countered the prosecutor with a subpoena for Slash to enter the courtroom and play the solo

    Love this song! I think everyone has a Mr. Brownstone. And it doesn’t have to b drugs. I used to smoke, that was my Brownstone. Haven’t touched a cigarette in 15 years. No desire.

      I know it's been 3 years since you originally posted but congrats on the HUGE accomplishment!!!! I was a cigarette smoker for 16 years and I was able to switch to vaping 3-4 years ago and haven't looked back. And before anyone says anything about the vaping "I DON'T GIVE A RATS ASS ABOUT ANYONE'S VIEW OR OPINION ON VAPING!!!" Hope you are still done with cigarettes.

      @jamespayne8252 i did the same. Vapeing doesn't have the carcinogens that cigarette has but there's tons of nicotine an its difficult to quit. Ive been using the nicotine nasal spray and gum. Ive cut back but its tough. Hopefully one of these days 🤞

    I LOVE Mr Brownstone! (the song not the drug) It's one of My favourite Guns songs! There was a time in My life when I could totally relate to this song. Thank God I'm not there now! But I love the chords in this song. I love the bass line & I love the beat. The lyrics are so true. I have Friends who've died from this drug & Friends who keep saying They've kicked this drug but then They're back on it within Weeks or Months & Friends who've kicked it but are hooked on prescription pills instead. It's a nasty drug! The worst!

      Staying stopped can be just as hard as actually stopping sometimes in different ways. Your mates might need reminding to handle bad days in a different way. As for taking medication still they can always reduce slowly once they're stable and confident enough

    • @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543
      @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah very true! I've been clean for 7 years now & never going back. I quite smoking too so the thought of smoking drugs makes Me feel nauseous now. There are some People about who don't want to stop as well but I don't bother with them. But the ones who want to stop & try I do bother with. I always try to give My Friends ideas for how to distract themselves & things to remind themselves of instead of buying drugs. Often it works too. The statistics for giving up for good on this drug are not good though. I think it claws People back in or They get out of rehab before fully recovering from withdrawals. I know probably 3 People besides Myself who quit for good & never looked back compared to dozens still trying then maybe 50 who have no intention of leaving that life.

      I'm currently on suboxone and only gone just over three months since taking heroin but it feels like ages. Luckily I got good friends who I now knock about with again. Bad days I just stay indoors either at mine or a with a good pal. Well done. To be honest I can't think of hardly anyone who is totally of everything and staying stopped too. I know plenty who use just after a drug test knowing it's gone by next test. I don't agree with it tho. Defeats the purpose and proves their heart ain't truly in it.

    • @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543
      @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well done! Stick at it. When You've got Friends it helps. Two of the things that helped Me were in the beginning I'd deliberately blow all My money on expensive things for My new place & throw away the receipts so I couldn't return them & to remind Me of all the money that would have gone on drugs & of all the things I was able to buy now My money wasn't going on drugs & it was partly so I couldn't buy drugs if I'd have no money for them. The other thing was My Friends & I'd look at the People in the worst states who were out shop lifting or going to jail & think thank God I'm not doing that! I'm sitting here in My oldest Friend's nice House watching movies & having a takeaway & wine or going out to a concert or club or restaurant with great People who support Me & want Me to succeed. They don't leech off Me or try to get Me involved in trouble. I'm on Buprenorphine still & I'm only now feeling like I want to reduce them & stop them altogether. I was afraid for ages of slipping back but I realise now I'm well past that. Methadone is a failure drug whereas You have a great chance on Suboxone. You can use on top of Methadone which is why it fails. People use it as a safety net whereas Suboxone is a different ball game & it holds You for way longer!

      Try to avoid judgement with persons struggling with different drug addictions. People respond individually to treatment and the method steps may not always match up exactly for others. Always be kind to persons simply because they may differ from yourself in beating addiction. Cannot always compare.

      @ropey birdThank you! He's been clean for 8 months so far, but the sad part is, the boy that supplied my son and two other boy's had killed a man at the bar, and since he's been in jail, my son and those kids have been clean. They all went to school together. God answers prayer, just not the way we think it should go.

    Coma; Estranged; Rocket Queen; You Could Be Mine; Locomotive
    Tier 2 would be songs like...
    Civil War; Mr. Brownstone; It's So Easy; The Garden; All Tied Up; Chinese Democracy (yeah I said it-- deal with it!)

    Thanks Sid, Another great collaboration with information about GNR song. I remember when this occurred for the band. The whispers reached Australian shores but it was considered mainly what was known to be in All Rock and Roll bands. There were major health warnings noted amongst the University I was attending, about the dangers of Heroin at the time. Heroin was considered the worst main drug at this time causing multiple fatalities with lasting effects for the high to be maximum 15 minutes only. I can see the concern amongst the community which in this case involved getting the law involved to try and prevent destructive behaviour and the influence Rock and Roll stars had on young individual minds at the time. Axl (who looked good in court in the sky blue suit, fashionable for that time 1993) reporting on employee behaviours under oath. This is no different to any other employees when asked to do so under circumstances involving the law. The upsetting thing here is where are the rest of them to account for their own behaviours when it comes to drugs and possible community influence. This certainly was an interesting case involving Rock Stars. The god's of music at the time. The lyrics reflect lifestyle habits so getting the song writers to explain it and what it means was the responsible thing to do at the time. Musicians had a lot of influence over the community because everyone wanted to either copy them or be them. That's the main issue here. That's what I remember about this event. 😎 Keep them coming Sid, you're awesome.

    As soon as everyone realizes that Duff was the secret to G-N-R, they can then move on with their day, just like John Paul Jones of Zeppelin and Eric Avery of Jane’s Addiction. They brought the signature feel, the iconic signature, and are each true pioneers of music. Bass played almost as a lead.

    Axl was there for Steven Adler when he overdosed on heroin nd sat by him in the hospital nd no one else. He was there for Slash when he was arrested nd pulled up money to bail him out of jail. He truly cared about all the band members. He got a tattoo of all the original band members. He only tried to help them. The other band members made him out to b the bad guy. He had a horrible childhood nd women nd band members shit on him. No he wasn't perfect but no one is. He just wanted them to get well. He stopped shows when duff was hit with a beer bottle. He stopped another show when a hard object was thrown at them on stage nd I don't blame him. I would've done the same thing. No one was dedicated toward the entire band except him. He played when he got cut bad nd when he was sick. Am I the only one that saw all the good things he did nd tried so hard to encourage the band members to get off the drugs nd alcohol. WTF

    This is hilarious. My friend Eric Warner lent me his cassette tape of Appetite in 4th grade so that I could copy it. I knew the first time I heard it it was about H. Even though I knew nothing about drug culture or anything at that age, the song really didn’t use any cryptic metaphors or anything. It was just obvious about H.

    Axl in court at the 3 05 min mark, IS priceless as a person before me said. He struggles to answer the question, as he is a liar, but not a great liar. He then rats out Duff.
    Ultimate Hypocritie - whilst Axl pretends he cleaned up in '88. Reports, including old Duff interviews. Axl allegedly used smack until' 96. IT was not daily use, but he did use. He definitely was also dancing with Mr Brownstone after he outed Slash at that 1989 Rolling Stones support act.

    Great song, danceable groove. The wah solo is notable as it’s only 1 or 2 guitar solos with a wah on the album (SCOM the other). In 1987 wah solos were rare. This solo contributed in boosting the popularity of the wah pedal among lead players in the late 80s into the early 90s.

    I can't believe I've never seen this. What a dangerous precedent to flirt with ... having an artist sit there and answer to the possible literal or figurative meaning of their art. yuck.

    WTF is this trial about? WTF difference does it make what drugs they used? I mean who the fuck cares? Their life @ the time MADE FOR THE BEST FUCKING DEBUT ALBUM OF ALL FUCKING TIME.
    My opinion, the BEST album ever. It's like the soundtrack of my life...

  • @EricLinstone

    Cool song though!

    I’d take Izzy and Slash’s account of how it came to be over Axl’s.
    And what Axl did to Adler was reprehensible.
    The only real Gn’R albums released by a major label were Appetite and Lies. UYI wasn’t Gn’R. It was members of Gn’R putting an album out. Matt is a great drummer for The Cult and VR, but he wasn’t the same as Adler.
    And for Axl to sit there and lie about what the song was about was pathetic.
    Everyone knew it was about heroin, and the band’s addiction to it.

    I remember on 1st USE UR ILLUSION TOUR..It was THE TOUR where they picked a Southesst date, 2/3 EastCoast, 2/3 MIdWest & 1/2 WestCoast dates. THIS WAS B4 USE UR ILLUSIONS was even out. It was like a dozen shows N USA at stadiums or places that WUD hold 30/40 000. I dont NO how the hell this happened BUT we got the Guns SouthEast SHOW N BHAM.AL. Waiting N line for gates to open we had PPL from Florida behind us&ppl FRM Nashville&Atlanta n front. Skid Row with Sebastian opened. Some idiot had firecrackers&almost caused Sebastian 2jump N after him. Thankfully security got him out. They did the show at a place I've NVR HEARD of a concert HAPPENING B4 or AFTER Guns. It was at the local HORSETRACK. They built the STAGE on 1end ot the infield & 40,000 ppl filled the infield. The 1 problem was IT had rained nonstop THE 2days prior 2THE SHOW. So 40,000 ppl was standing n ankle deep mud. U got 40,000 PPL N mud& SKID ROW finished there set between 845/9..We was expecting Guns to take the stage between 930-945. This was when Axl was doing his late bullshit AFTR 2 FUKN Hours THEY HIT the stage Around 11pm. I was thinking u might bring up this SHOW because before they started Axl said SOME1 N THE band cant stop dancing with MR God damm brownstone and if they dont quit REAL soon then ITS the end of guns N Rose's. Few songs later IT was time for SLASH Guitar solo. B4 he started playing he said something like IM THE GUY AXL WAS REFFERING TO EARLIER. And it's always bugged me that I cant remember what he said after that OPENING LINE b4 his solo.
