Microsoft has done a far better job with its default audio driver than Realtek has done with its high definition driver. What is so shocking about this is that Realtek is in the audio business (at least, in part). Thank you so much! After finally solving a recurring BSOD problem, all my streaming audio started having this problem. I googled the problem, of course, and clicked on several links before I found a working answer. Funny, the sound was no problem with the video player I use to watch video files, only online streaming. Anyway, I applied this solution and my streaming problem is solved.
Fix may be power strip: Logitec speakers seem to do it, usually to surround sound speakers. But for me after trying everything and even though did it when was unplugged from pc. The problem I discovered a week later was that my power strip was too close to the subwoofer box (all speakers plug into the subwoofer). It took awhile to discover because for years I had the same setup for my pc, power strip and subwoofer on the floor and never had a problem, only recently started doing it. But am glad I finally figured it out.
Thank you. This did work on my case. My noise came from both front and back audio jack so it was not the head phone set issue. I don't know the reason why this happened but I think it occurred after a few Windows update. Much appreciated..
I spent a lot of time troubleshooting audio stutter, CPU, latency issue, much of this is assumed to be a driver compatibility problem. I have also heard that it is a audio resolution conflict with two audio device drivers installed and running at the same time. I have heard also it was a BIOS config problem. To no avail, I was convinced it was a virus. Was ready to wipe a SSD and reinstall Windows 10, when I realized it could be a memory problem. Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool, click yes to restart computer. Absolutely saved me 10 plus hours rebuilding my computer.

Dude you are the MAN !! I have a pretty high end system and just upgrade my sound system and now use the motherboards audio instead of hdmi and i was having all kinda of problems with Dolby 5.1 surround failing tests. and then the crackeling sound started when i was listening to music while playing games and it was starting to drive me insane since i never had these issues before with just desktop speakers 2.1 . Thank you so much.
Thank you for this guide, it worked out for the Realtec S1220A soundchip. I already tried so reinstall audio drivers before and after some windows updates the sound crackling/distortion was back again. Now the audio issue is gone :)
It took me almost a year to figure out the problem. There was an old, unsupported driver for an old device that was still installed on Windows. Once I removed it, the problem went away.
or you can check your power management and set it to HIGH performance if it's balanced or eco it takes power from the audio driver when using programs that are CPU intensive and can't supply enough power. also under device manager under view select show hidden and find the junk and uninstall it all under USB and HID as well as audio if applicable type power in search and open power manager click advance settings on the right and find out if it's set to power save mode or not, this is a problem i get often other than that you have your Audio card khz setting for most people setting it to 44khz or 48khz is fine but some of us like our music to sound good so we go 98khz and have to figuer the rest out afterward, just buy a DAC.
It actually worked for me! I still have some type of "static" in my mic, but basically every mic has it (just the sound you hear during playback or mic monitoring). Thank you for this video, I was really thinking about RMA-ing my mic!
Glad it helped, as for your mic, the only way to remove the background noise for built it or low quality mics is to apply a noise gate, there are external but most softwares offers a built in one.
Dont waste time watching this. *It does work though so here it takes one minute:* 1.) You don't need to go to control panel for device manager, legit just right click the windows icon and find device manager there. 2.) Find your audio device under "Sound, video and game controllers" - The name is relative to your headphone brand, if not it's High Definition Audio or something like that. 3.) Double click it, click "update drivers", and click "browse my computer". 4.) Click "let me pick from a list" and pick models that are compatible with your hardware - Tick the box to check for compatibility. 5.) Click next and that's it. - If it tells you to restart, restart, if not it should work. (If there is no restart popup and it doesn't work for certain programs, just switch your output device out and back)
Oooh thank god! spend last 14 days on searching for a fix.. it was almost unbearable playing games and watching videos on my PC... if i had any money i would donate for this video fixing my problem...
Glad to be of help! If the problem returns after udating windows next time, try my updated tutorial on this! Oh don't mind, but if you get rich, remember me 😂
for people who this didn't work for. the issue for me after spending bloody hours and hours on it turned out to be network latency issues causing the studdering. all i did was hard connect the modem to the computer to take it off wifi. i went back to wifi after i disconnected it and it seems to have fixed it weirdly. i also updated the network drivers after. Worth a try if you feel like youve exhausted every option like I did. All the best.
It´s not a driver problem, it is a codec issue. You should play with the options on the equalizer and options for sound effects. I had this issue on 3 machines with win10 and it is not a driver problem. I resolved by just tweaking the settings on the audio wizard settings to speech mode, then go to sound effects, set to "nothing" >>>>check the intensity box then pick one of the preset options below for (pop, live, jazz, etc..) then adjust the EQ sliding buttons to your liking, then save it as your own user set mode, name it and bingo! What works best for me is: live with slight adjustment to get a clear, clean and non distorted sound. Again, this will eliminate this issue altogether. Be sure to set your volume button to say around 70% so you have room to boost the volume as well. You can also add a sound booster to your browser , there are a few free and good ones on your extension store for chrome , Firefox and edge. This issue bugged me for weeks until I figured this out. Generic driver will not work better than the latest driver for your sound card nor will picking a lower bit format. I´m using the most recent realtek driver set to the 24 bit 48000hz format and it works just fine, no improvements on lower formats at all! Good luck.
I can not thank you enough for this video. I've spent hours online trying to fix this issue but could never fully solve it. Then I decide to just look on TH-cam and BAM. A working fix. Thanks! I was seriously contemplating sending this brand new laptop back
Oh boy youre a savior this method is still usefull in 2021!!Im running a 5.1 logitech z906 on optical realtek, i havent used it for 4 days; i was using my headset then i wanted to play a game and every 10-15secs i was hearing some very depressing sounds and lags i felt so sad cause i thought my speakers were dying...then i realized that this sound could hear it all way suround then i run to youtube for a tutorial video i was confident that is a driver issue and found your video now i played for sometime and it literaly fixed!!! Thank you !!!
Experiencing this myself, sometimes shutting down and resetting the pc worked for me. But lately its been constant regardless of my old tricks. I tried this and it lessened it a little but not completely fixed.
I have 2 High Definition Audio Driver and NVIDIA High Definition Audio Driver. I installed One of the High Definition Audio Driver. I still have that stuttering sound and sometimes my screen goes black for a second or two and comes back as normal. I tried updating NVIDIA drivers, Uninstalled reinstalled, disabled etc. It doesn't work. It is getting extremely frustrating.
I have the same issue with Nvidia high definition (only crackling sound, no black screen)... I tried the generic windows audio driver with a very small improvement, but the crackling sound is still there. When I rebboot, I have perfect sound for a while, approx 1 hour and after le crackling is back. It's boring. I tried all the suggested solution I could found. No way to get a clean sound. So, you are not alone!
I tried the solution of DMC31405 (one year old) and after disabling any reference with nvidia, it seems to work, but I have to wait more than one hour to be happy with that!
Thanks man, after two years this still works i play Valorant and the audio is so scuffed up and this helped so much! There is still a little static but its not that bad Thanks!
whenever my pc plays a sound (youtube, video, ect) it sounds all funny, something like: vvvvvvvvvHvvvvvvvvvvvhvvvvvvvhvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvhv idk what to so, ive looked at the area where the sound comes out of and its all clean. it was fine 2 mins ago, im scared to try and investigate and take a closer look because i dont want to ruin my laptop! i have a asus laptop, windows 10. im gonna restart it to see if it fixes, if it doesn't i'll edit this with the result!

My guy took 10 minutes to talk about something that can literally get covered in 2 minutes
Much Much Thanks. Got a new headset and was working great, until 2 or 3 days later. Thanks to u it's now working without that crappy static.
You got rid of my sound thanks
Try to go to device manager and press your sound thand go to details and press roll back driver and it will go to the prievious sound that was working
After two years with multiple drivers installed, multiple youtube video and web articles, multiple applications trying to troubleshoot my audio issue and multiple calls with support center and after getting my motherboard changed FINALLY this trick worked,
THANK YOU!
Can't wait to watch all of his videos, a great way to practice patience. Btw, it works so far for me. Thank you
Thank you so much!
I had to come back and say....THANK YOU! IT WORKED FOR ME! PERFECTLY! Simple and Easy instructions to follow!
Fix may be power strip:
Logitec speakers seem to do it, usually to surround sound speakers.
This advice reduced the amount of background noise I was experiencing, did not eliminate it totally, but thank you all the same. It did help.
Glad I could help!
Thank you. This did work on my case. My noise came from both front and back audio jack so it was not the head phone set issue. I don't know the reason why this happened but I think it occurred after a few Windows update. Much appreciated..
You are a lifesaver!!! Thanks a lot!!
deshoooo!? really thanks to this dude
thanks for this video, fixed perfectly my freshly new laptop
I spent a lot of time troubleshooting audio stutter, CPU, latency issue, much of this is assumed to be a driver compatibility problem. I have also heard that it is a audio resolution conflict with two audio device drivers installed and running at the same time. I have heard also it was a BIOS config problem. To no avail, I was convinced it was a virus. Was ready to wipe a SSD and reinstall Windows 10, when I realized it could be a memory problem. Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool, click yes to restart computer. Absolutely saved me 10 plus hours rebuilding my computer.
it didn't work for me the crackling sound is still there
Ekeleme Godswill same
to fix it put a ferrite thing on youre hd sound cabel i did it and it works ferrite takes away static from everything so it is in common use in electronics you should find youreself a ferrite thingi pretty easy.
@Truth News Network just google it but i did youre work for you it is like that www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwib_dTou7TgAhUPs4sKHR-qCnoQjhx6BAgBEAM&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FParts-Express-Ferrite-Noise-Suppressor%2Fdp%2FB0002MQGEK&psig=AOvVaw1Aue19sQtGUABodLOc-hwJ&ust=1550001528681403
besides the obsious stalling this really helped me, when nothing else worked. thank you so much!
"Permanent solution 2020"
- Posted 2 years ago -_-
@Zeno Sama If you listen closely to his recording, try to ignore the soundtrack,
you can hear a static white noise in the background (if u cant hear it, try pausing and unpausing)
Hell, I'm watching an audio tutorial on someone with bad audio.
Someone had my comment deleted, very sus
I had a comment about this creator tryna hit 10 mins by talking bout irrelevant stuff
And lied in the tittle as in "2020 solution" and
zeno sama being irrelevant cuz i wasnt even talking to him and he tryna defend this creator or somethin
@Zeno Sama idk why my comment was deleted, it was sus, but anyways imma say wat i said there
U said "so what" ,
Bruh srsly man, u tryna pick a fight with me or somethin huh?
i wasnt even talkin to u in the first place, attention effin seeker
srsly, like wat was u thinkin dumbass, wat u tryna achieve with the "so what" reply, ur mommy didn't gave u love and attention much??
he updates it if it works for 2020 dumbass
worked perfectly! even fixed the quality of the output sound, thank youuu sooo much!
Hmm... I don't know what it is but I can't put my finger on it. oh wait i know i can't hear the video
DAMNNN five years later and this still works, thank youu
wth dude, get straight to the point
Thanks man, it turned out that i didn't even had Real Tek drivers on my pc, i only had the generic one. If it wasn't for your tutorial i wouldn't know it was the standard to have 2 drivers. I'm downloading it from the official website while writing this.
Glad I could help
Umm Final Solution ?
final solution is try to roll back and install again.. :)
I think it is a hardware problem not a software, because my laptop speakers were working for 5 years and now they are making this noisy sound. @@jcgameplay4428
I've just tried out this, hope it will work for ever because I had issues with my microphone, it was not working, I tried to fix it many times but I failed. After doing what you explained here, my microphone has also been fixed. Thanks for this.
It will stop working in future, but my updated tutorial explains how to make it never change.
second time I've had to do this xd thank you
Dude you are the MAN !!
Still very relevant guide. Just updated my ICUE and stuttering started and this helped again.
despite the unnecessary length of the video It helped alot thanks
This worked. Thank you been driving me crazy for two weeks.
It took me almost a year to figure out the problem. There was an old, unsupported driver for an old device that was still installed on Windows. Once I removed it, the problem went away.
or you can check your power management and set it to HIGH performance
if it's balanced or eco it takes power from the audio driver when using programs that are CPU intensive and can't supply enough power.
also under device manager under view select show hidden and find the junk and uninstall it all under USB and HID as well as audio if applicable
type power in search and open power manager click advance settings on the right and find out if it's set to power save mode or not, this is a problem i get often
other than that you have your Audio card khz setting for most people setting it to 44khz or 48khz is fine but some of us like our music to sound good so we go 98khz and have to figuer the rest out afterward, just buy a DAC.
I think you will change my life bro . Thank you . I will try. If my computer dont lag anymore I will subscribe to your channel
@@GMODISM I have a hyper x quad cast S. Any software that may help that?
Dont waste time watching this. *It does work though so here it takes one minute:*
1.) You don't need to go to control panel for device manager, legit just right click the windows icon and find device manager there.
2.) Find your audio device under "Sound, video and game controllers"
- The name is relative to your headphone brand, if not it's High Definition Audio or something like that.
3.) Double click it, click "update drivers", and click "browse my computer".
4.) Click "let me pick from a list" and pick models that are compatible with your hardware
- Tick the box to check for compatibility.
Good luck.
Great comment, but sound issues can absolutely be caused by a bad driver.
I can not thank you enough for this video. I've spent hours online trying to fix this issue but could never fully solve it. Then I decide to just look on TH-cam and BAM. A working fix. Thanks! I was seriously contemplating sending this brand new laptop back
Glad I could help you out mate!
This video still holds up in 2022. Really helpful, thank you so much!!!
Doesn’t it make any issue?
Because it warns at the beginning not to install
I couldnt not come back and say this works, omg the past twice it happened to my PC i just hard reset it, this has saved my lifeeeeee
thank you so much and keep doing videos on how to fix other problems!!
After some hours, It does not work, crackling are still there. I have to search something else.
i wasnt expecting it would solve my problem, i thought that my headset was fucked up since its a bit old now.
but it helped. thanks!
we don't need a 3 and a half minute long intro on a video about how to fix your device audio
Thanks man, after two years this still works i play Valorant and the audio is so scuffed up and this helped so much! There is still a little static but its not that bad Thanks!
whenever my pc plays a sound (youtube, video, ect) it sounds all funny, something like: vvvvvvvvvHvvvvvvvvvvvhvvvvvvvhvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvhv
idk what to so, ive looked at the area where the sound comes out of and its all clean. it was fine 2 mins ago, im scared to try and investigate and take a closer look because i dont want to ruin my laptop! i have a asus laptop, windows 10. im gonna restart it to see if it fixes, if it doesn't i'll edit this with the result!
Sir I love you thanks so much you fixed my problem I had for months I’m subbing.
