You got a good point about the Magic6 Pro but you are way too harsh on your scorings.... I know they lied about their zoom but is it really enough to knock off that much points when on other zoom ranges, its comparable to other phones? I watched tons of reviews about this phone and I can say that they got one of the best photos and videos all around in my opinion. Also, you nitpicked on the screen but their screen literally has the same resolution as the iPhone 15 pro max and I don't see anyone complaining about its screens, and its actually better than the 15 because of it got the highest PWM dimming for y'all flicker sensitive eyes out there. Good review, bad ratings .
I dont the pwm till someone tested it. I think all those with high numbers lie as much as they lie with the brightness.
Hi do I go with the Xiomi 14 ultra or the Samsung S23ultra I be buying straight out no contract which is the better I be using them for landscapes and Eastbourne airshow I don't like the fact Samsung will be charging for there Ai in a year or two could you find out how true that is ,is the 14 ultra better than the samsung ultra
@@renekuhn2116 Are you talking about the s23U or the s24U cause you typed s23U, if you do mean that then get the Xiaomi as its newer. If you're talking about s24U then it depends. Xiaomi is known for their buggy software(its not to the point that its bad but still) and slow updates but great hardware for its price. Samsung on the other hand has great software giving timely updates, almost has no bugs, and very long support. They both got great cameras(this depends on the person though) and performance so you won't regret getting any of these two. The only factor that will apply is wether you want to save money, go for xiaomi or a good software but a bit pricier then go for samsung.
@@renekuhn2116Samsung probably wont charge for the AI functions that are available right now. They are way to unimportant/small to charge for them but maybe theyll charge for more complex functions in the future. (All thats not 100 percent clear right now) Anyway they both take good photos but samsung is pretty sure the better "Phone" (Especially software and updates) while xiaomi14 Ultra probably has better camera hardware and you might also like the style. Samsung has smaller sensors and is known for not taking good pictures of moving objects (Children maybe Airplanes too :D) but you might like theyre colours and its still a very good camera after the new updates.
The vivo X100 Pro by the way has the best camera right now. Im pretty sure about that!
Keep in mind they are all very close and a real camera that you can buy for 700 or 800 Dollars is way, way better than any phone. So if you buy a Pixel 8, Samsung s24 and a camera you spent the same money as you spent for the 14 Ultra and youll have better pictures. So in the end you have to decide for yourself. I think the xiaomi 14 Ultra is a good phone but not worth more money than the S24 Ultra.
I don't know why you're so critical about zoom, up to 10x is really good, above 10x for every phone, you start losing details, the more you zoom, the more details you lose. 10x zoom in this phone is great.

For 180mp it’s bad
180mp means nothing, it's better to have 2 50 MP telephoto than one 180 MP. The competition is right 3x/3.2x and 5x/6x are the best choice because it covers a large range of your daily photos. It can get usable photos up to let's say 15/20x. Anything above is just garbage

On the glass, isn't it basically what Huawei uses like Kunlun glass which if I'm not mistaken is stronger than gorilla glass? I've seen drop tests and it seems to have done better than corning. Isn't the trump card of this display the pwm thing that causes less flicker than everyone else? Also, the resolution is the same as an iPhone isn't it? You wouldn't notice the extra pixels. And most people leave their S24 Ultras on FHD anyway?

It seems the zoom is okay up to about 30x. I've watched reviews from Xeetech and some other smaller channels where they compared to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the zoom actually did very very well and even better in those instances. I think perhaps they shouldn't advertise the 100x as being so clear since it isn't. But up to 30x it seems excellent and on par with everything else. However at this level perhaps it isn't quite good enough. The price should be lower. 2.5 of 5 is harsh for this camera. I've seen other reviews of the telephoto though. Just because 100x isn't that great, the score makes it seem like the whole system is half as good as other flagships? Maybe 3.5 of 5. Is the zoom really worth 2.5 points off the total?
How would you compare the quality of the speakers against the competition? Battery and sound are my two most important features. Thanks.

Ok, but how do we settle with a 15Watt wireless charging on the Samsung Galaxy 24 Ultra against 66Watt on the Honor. Frankly, I prefer the faster charging speed over higher screen resolution

I do appreciate your honesty. I went ahead and ordered it before watching this. I would have brought it anyway but your video has me wanting to get my hands on it and testing it out. I'm not zooming 100x. I want the main camera to be good and to be able to take good pictures. Anything 100x zoom is too far away in the 1st place. Your right though they shouldnt have lied

I'm loving it as well. Cameras are great, screen is great. Battery life, great. Speakers are great as well. I've not had any crashes or anything so I'm well impressed

You are a genuine honest person and this is definitely always to be admired because when comments are given out about any product it is sugar-coated myself i have been looking at this phone because my phone is seriously broken and in for repair died a quick death sadly , just a couple of questions 1)What size storage had you on the honor magic 6 pro.2)I am looking at the 12gb/512gb version because the 16gb/1tb storage is not available.And finally Samsung s24 ultra and S23ULTRA are both in trouble with screen display and constantly having to get updates patches to solve it, Samsung are not perfect phones especially such a higher price.Best wishes love your comments on the honour magic 6 pro much appreciated cheers Declan 👍👍👍🙏🙏😁😁

The introductory offer/bundles etc will disappear soon but Honor/Huawei normally drop the RRP after 3 or 4 months on flagships so should bottom out at about £800 by July so maybe wait if not being 'first on the street to get one' isn't a big deal. I think I will wait for the Huawei P70 Pro Plus👍
Currently being sold on their website for 850. Theres a sim contract deal that will cost 950* over 2 years so the phone comes to 650ish if you minus the sim cost. Honestly its a bargain

What are you guys doing with that zoom in day to day life anyway? Spying on girls in the distance?! Because else I think this much of zoom is overhyped when it comes to the photo situations most people use it for 95% of the time.
Ill take shorter zoom for the ability to shoot moving objects with zero motion blur 7 days a week
I think 90% of smartphone users can't tell the difference between 453ppi, which is on par with an iPhone 15 Pro Max, and ~500ppi on other phones like the S24 Ultra or OP12.
And I know DXOMARK isn't always the most reliable metric, but they just ranked the Magic 6 Pro's display #1 of all phones they've ever tested. It can't be that bad. 🤔
I live in Singapore now and I’ll honestly buy this versus Samsung’s coz it’s allot cheaper here! The only factor for me is 1st and mainly price
I kinda agree with 2.5/5 for cameras. Even they (honor) also would agree as the dxomark is only for selfie camera. 😊. Could be they're still optimizing the camera software

I was about to send my oneplus 12 back as it was still within the 30 days return period. Nothing wrong with the phone but I thought the Honor might be a bit better with battery life and the telephoto optical zoom. I didn't believe the 100x zoom anyway. After watching your review, (and many others) I decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

Great review, I really appreciate your honesty. I fully agree that Honor should not give false ads to customers, this is unacceptable since I'm one of those people who would buy a phone mainly for the camera. The zoom is clear up to 30X, even though it is comparable to the other brand's flagship but I found from other reviews that this phone's camera also has a few other downsides such as over-saturated color and drop of quality in video shooting. I feel this phone might have other over-estimated specs and I'm certainly won't risk my money buying this piece. I would give 3.0/5.0 rating for this phone.

It has a few minuses: 1) really slow software updates, honor magic 5 pro didn't even get the android 14 yet; 2) zoom photos are really sht unfortunately :( otherwise it's a good phone, and I Don't know if I should switch from s23 ultra to this..

camera rating is quite harsh, but understandable, honor shouldn't lie about the 100x zoom. but other than the shit 100x zoom, the cameras are pretty solid
I just got mine and yeah the tele lense is a bit of a disappointment not only because on the ad (that was clear for me). The portraits look horrible imho. Weird goofy redrawing of eye brows and such.
Hope they will update this.
What I am missing and don't know why its not there are the major AI feature they advertised at MWC 2024. The Magic Portal is missing. I don't get why its on my Magic 4 Ultimate already and its lacking completely from the Magic 6 Pro even though they advertised it prominently at the launch event at MWC.
So yeah they rushed the global release here. Should've waited until the software is ready.

Display however I do not see so critical. The PPI is ok still if I get the high PWM dimming and good brightness. Though yeah its a slight downgrade to the Magic 5 Pro and even Magic 4 Pro.
Normal brightness peak is also higher on the Magic 5 Pro..
As always Sir , very good point. My HM6P is on return , main sensor is totally decepcion ( OVH900 ) , after test few days , i think that IMX878 from M5P is best in any scenario !

I will say he makes good points for a lot of things in the video. I dont agree with his camera score personally because zoom on every phone is a gimmick, only useful to read stuff thats far away lol which this phone can still affomplish.
Dishonest advertising is what evey single manufacturer does. The "shot on iphone" ads but they add a bunch of lenses and a ginbal wich yiu cant see id also false advertising, this reviewer should keep the same energy with iphone and score them just as low. I do think hes being truly silly with the cameras, a false advert shouldnt undermine how great of a phone it is.
Also fullhd is my prefered resolution on mobile devices because most of the oanels are 2k but most videos online are 1080p or 4k. This means that if you watch 1080p or 4k on a 2k panel it doesn't look as sharp as it would on a 1080p panel because if the pixrl layout. Outside of movies though, day to day stuff will ofc look better on 2k because it scales the text perfectly. For me personally, 1080p is perfect. Especially because it helps with baggery life. More importantly than resolution i would say he should speak about colours/contrast and brightness both high and low.
Anyways it is worth a watch but i watch at 3x speed he speaks a bit slow
Personally I think the OnePlus 12 is the best looking phone, but the Magic 6 is a close second. The only thing I don't like about it is the pill cutout dropped square in the center. I have no problem with the pill cutout in general but it looks better and less like a Apple copycat when it's pushed into a corner.
I know people buy phones for cameras? No one seems to talk about call quality, mobile connection speeds etc etc noticed having this phone the mobile connection is very good extremely fast twice to three times as fast as my other phone.. call quality as well10/10

+ even one chinese tester at least said that honor lied and that he had big expectations too, which were not fulfilled because of honor false advertising
even if we can say that it is obvious that they were showing a false image to advertise, it is completly understandable that you can't advertise like that when you can't even deliver proper 10 times zoom...
Nice review. In my opinion is the glass of the Honor way better that Vitcus 2 or Armor. Xiaomi don't use gorilla glass too. Only the base 14 use are Victus glass.

The resolution for me is an overrated metric for what makes a good display. My Pixel 7 Pro was a 512 ppi display, now my 8 Pro is a 489 ppi display. Both came out of the box set to FHD+ resolution and with my 20/20 vision I'd be lying if I said I notice a difference between the two.
More important to me with a display is color, contrast levels, brightness. Another thing that never gets mentioned in reviews is a displays ambient sensor polling rate which a good one will adjust brightness quickly and accurately based on the given light.
Things that you also didn't touch on that i was hoping you would is haptics. I'm not sure why this is an overlooked area in reviews or why most reviewers don't care or value good haptics enough to cover it.
Your score overall was fair and I'd still choose it over a comparable S24 Ultra. Pricing for a S24 Ultra in the UK direct from Samsung in the 512GB storage is £1349 so it's still £150 more than the Magic 6 Pro. I think the Magic 6 Pro is the more interesting phone.
It's strange really, as DxOMark gave the Magic6 Pro its highest ranked score for a camera phone.
Yeah, i don't trust them as they are paid by manufacturers. BUT.. the cameras are great, just the telephoto was misleading when advertised

But I get it. It is based on your subject feelings and some basic tests, which many times get some good points, but based mostly only on your feelings. Thank you for them. Another point of view is always a good thing. Just viewers will in the future appriciate I believe (subjectively) in your "TRUE" videos more facts (usually means facts no feelings) and less non-objective feelings.
Short example - try more functions of all phones like pro modes in camera menu (to see the difference how good/bad are handled things which are not used always by many, but can give you a clue how companies care about intuitivness of their products because using only automatic for everything like 🍏 users are doing - because they are not allowed to make many changes - is just pointless), or probably get more facts about stuff which you rating on your feelings (at this video it was for example glass on display - test it first before you come to conclusion that you think it is not as good as victus - that is not a fact, that is what you think, again), it will help and reduce confusion from what you telling on video and than what is your final result in points.
Do not get me wrong, I like your videos, but because you are trying to "sell" your feelings I give you 1,5/5 (you see how stupid it looks at the end 🙃 )
Take care and improve what you are doing, be hars is easy as you can see, but making objective conclusion (which I believe you are trying to get at the end with the score system) is much much harder.

Guys nothing against this review. Yeah it is sad that the zoom what Honor promote so much was not like that. But to be honest I've tested so much Chinese phones. And most of the Chinese brands are lying in terms of numbers and some features or camera. But it doesn't say the phones are bad, they all really good flagships. But what I will say is on the end every brand promote there products with little lies.

It sounds like your rating is a bit biased since you're triggered by and fixated on the fact that they lied on one detail of the phone. I love your reviews and honesty, but you can't take things personal and give such ratings. Zoom is just one thing of the camera and there are so many other good things about the camera that it could get 4/5.
No-one is stupid enough to actually believe that deer is gonna come crisp clear from that distance. And if you haven't noticed, all the big brands too exaggerate on their ads and if you get offended by all those, I don't think you can review any phone. ( I don't approve false marketing but you took it abit too far than you should is my personal belief)

The amount of ignorance being spouted in this review is simply epic. I don't know where to start. The pixel density, expressed in ppi, on a screen does not matter after a certain point, which is around 400, because the human eye cannot perceive a higher resolution. Between 400 and 500 is ideal. If you have more your phone is pushing extra pixels for nothing. It is detrimental to battery life. The Galaxy S8 from 2017 had 570 ppi, the s24 ultra has 505. Gee, they made the screen worse duhh. The Magic6 pro has the highest rated screen ever on DXOMark. It has excellent ratings in all sub categories and DXO use the best equipment and clearly defined protocols to test this. As for the zoom camera, it is actually quite good in the zoom range it is meant to be used in. I played with the phone several times in a local shop. For starters the main camera on the Magic 6 pro has a 27mm equivalent lens, while most other phones have 23 or 24mm. This means that 2,5x on Magic 6 pro is around 70mm equivalent, just like 3x on other phones. In photography this is an excellent zoom range for portraits and the Honor has the largest sensor in a phone zoom. Its portraits are fantastic. 5x zoom range is still very good and 10x is okay. Up to 30x is somewhat usable. Above that it is just a gimmick. There is no phone in the world which can zoom 100x and have usable images. Everyone who claims differently knows nothing about photography. I have a professional camera and professional zoom lenses go up to 600mm, which would be around 25x in phone terms and they cost thousands of pounds. All photos taken above 10x should be taken on a tripod or at least from some support like a wall because of hand shake. It is obvious that you know nothing about photography. 100x on any phone is just a gimmick. It is in the range of a good telescope. If you believe advertising like this, you also believe Red Bull will make you fly or some face cream will make you ten years younger. If you are going to criticize the phone, criticize the inconsistent video performance or the fact that the device is top heavy for example. Don't criticize the strong points, like the screen. It only makes you look like you don't have a clue what you're talking about.
