Great show! I too dislike people that hate on Mike or Bruce or any of the so called "hangers on" or "not real beach boys". They're all incredibly talented in their own right. Mike was there from the beginning and Bruce followed only 4 years after they even started and been with them ever since barre a few years in the mid 70's. Brian's a musical genius, Mike is the surf voice, golden lyricist and crafty showman of the band. Basically every past and present band member has had an important and invaluable role in their almost 60 year legacy. That's what makes the Beach Boys so damn amazing
I am not sure why you put love and Johnstone together in your original point. While not being in the original line up, Johnstone is a really good singer, songwriter, and an especially good warm hearted human being. Love on the other hand, while having a wide singing range, is nasally , and awkward as a singer. On the human side, he is jealous, petty, and destructive. I have been to almost a dozen beach boys concerts and Love attacked Brian with some nasty comment in almost all of them. No one would know who love is, if it wasn't for Brian. He also sued Brian, and fired him and Al towards the tale end of the 50th anniversary tour. Just to show them it's his band now. He is a dispicable excuse of a human being. As far as the beach boys non original core, except for Bruce, Glen Campbell, and Cowsel, they were all just pro side men. None especially special. Even Dennis who became a fantastic singer song writer was better than all of them.
Bach, Beethoven and Mozart are musical geniuses. Brian is nothing even close to that. However, he is very creative and created a unique sound blending harmonies with great music.
when i first watched this show it was on call with a few friends and we all collectively just absolutely lost it at the rant. such a glorious thing to watch
Elora, have you ever come across the Beach Boys appearance in the 1965 film The Girls on the Beach? Apparently they performed Lonely Sea Little Honda, and of course Girls On the Beach. I can only find one still photo from the movie.
i was there n it was awesome!!! live nation bought jamboree in the hills and shut it down....just about killed all of us....i met sooooo many people from all over the country and canada and germany. went from 95 - 17......3rd week of july,,,,now its just blaaaaaa. rant over, thanks for listening
I saw one of Carl's last shows before he surcumed to cancer. His voice was as pure as ever. Carl, the voice in the group of great voices and harmonies. Carl and Dennis were so amazingly talented and left us way too soon.
i think its great still have to accept it like it is but i gonna like it, and yes its the beach boys, in a way, sad its like it, but lets party thanks to you. good quality, thank you. ps i would love to get the authographs of any original member anyone can help me or give some advice, please?
With no live music happening, it's going to be tough! I met Bruce before their shows this past November and February and he signed some records for me. I was near the stage at the February show, held up my Pet Sounds, and Mike came over and signed for me, and came out after the show and signed stuff for people as well. Al can be hit or miss - I tried getting him to sign my Pet Sounds at a Brian Wilson show, but he didn't stop to meet anyone. However, he would sign for people at his solo shows.
I was really enjoying this corona get away treat until the a wipe Love trashed Brian being an addict way back when. Fired him at the end of the 50th anniversary tour too. Poor excuse for a human being.
The organ sound on California Girls has always changed and in the 90/Early 00’s it was so crystal like! It was such a sort-of dreamy introduction!
Always great to see Mike Meros
Yes!!! He was awesome. Sadly, he passed away. Great keyboardist. 👍

Exactly my thoughts aswell.

That was a great interview with Bruce. Thanks Elora for uploading all of this
Awesome video! Thanks for posting.
Nice to watch in its entirety. Great performance
That rant before Good Vibrations is GOLDEN holy shit
I loved the original beach boys with Brian wilson
Great to know!
:-O
Very cool I am enjoying your channel👍🏻
Mike’s pre-GV rant is worth price of admission alone. He must have missed his meditation that morning.

Don't worry baby is my favourite song and the guy singing it has a great voice. Is he still in the group
Mike looked like he was out for blood at the beginning of “Don’t Worry Baby” (22:26)

Is that Mike Kowalski on drums?
Yep
Where do you find all these concerts?

Notice they didn’t do God Only Knows because Carl died 2 years earlier.

Carl died in 1998.

Ah . . .. Mike Love and Friends . . . still fun to watch though.
The Mike Love Show. So sad

Bullshit.
