Sad to see my home town no longer with the shops that used to be. Thursdays and Saturdays were always buzzing with a very good and busy market where you 'd stop and get 'the crack'. I remember buying my very first leather jacket from the Leather stall with my first wages working as a student during the holidays. I still have that leather jacket and it is in good nick and still fits.
Remember the British High Street. Alas it left Whitehaven many years ago.... Woollies, The Beehive, Mark Taylors to name a few. The town has been killed off. Look at the market compared to what it used to be till now. The people of Whitehaven have let the town die in the hands of CBC. Good vid though brought back many memories.
As a new visitor to the town any footage is useful to help me memorise the layout, but not sure what you are trying to prove/ demonstrate with this film. An occasional 'slow pan' would help and image stabilistation; name some streets, tell a story.
Thanks for the footage. The area is on my radar as somewhere to relocate to from London. It looks very British which I like, but wonder if the area is losing that or successfully keeping it? What would you say?
@@davideveson1049 Yes, I moved out. London has some redeeming factors but even nice parts have idiots causing trouble there with gangs being tolerated and moving in.

I live in seascale, the only reason that place is still in one piece is because we have a parish council
Screw the government.

Wayy I found a video on my home town, funny how I recognise all that 😂
What's Whitehaven like to live at? I'm watching this to see how British the area is.
@@ARC_VR its alright towns a shithole but its quiet and harbour is nice and its right on the sea and the outskirts are nice
@@blainewing1010 Any gangs there? In London here we have Blacks and Asians fighting eachother in the streets. Anything like that up there?

@@nathanhodgson2639 Nice. What's the deal with Workington?

Why would you move to an area, with no shops jobs & poor transport connections, this is why I left West Cumbria.
Don’t move to whitehaven it’s a shite hole
And why would anyone move to London? It's a dump!
