No, cause you can have the better ship, and still get blaped from the existence if you dont know the mechanics of the game, or how to play your role... (talking about getting ships from the store, named Premium Ships). You can buy premium account, this helps in grinding, you ear more Xp and more money from battles, but, its totally fine playing without premium account... unless you have a bunch of tier X ships, cause their service cost is high (cost for mantenance and repair post battle), but, having a lot of tier x means loooong time in game, and in this time, you already learn how to manage the game economics...
