Sitting with mine on in the house just now, got a pair of grivel air tech new matic crampons for them as well, need to get the asymmetric bar for the crampons though, but not a big deal. ill be using mine in the Scottish highlands for winter climbs up to a grade 3 pushing 4 at times. great boot and have been a staple for the winter in Scotland for over a decade.
I was wondering if you’d find these too warm in the summer I do a lot of hunting in the fall/late fall in Montana but would also like a bit to backpack throughout the summer. It would be awesome to have one boot to do it all but may not be possible. Thanks for your input!
I didn't find them too warm, but my feet do run cold. If you've got hot feet, you could always get a pair of the charmoz as they are the uninsulated version of the Manta Techs
Im looking for a warm winter hiking isolated boot that is crampon compatible. Wondering if this would be a good choice. I live in the Canadian Rockies, and I get cold feet. I was going to consider a mountaineering book like the Mammut Nordwand Knit or the Taiss, but I think it may not be the best choice for hiking
@@shuswapoutdoors Would you know how fitment compares to the other Scarpa boots? Like the Ribelle HD? I tried on their Lite HD boot, and I was a 41.5EU. maybe a 42 when wearing a liner sock. Do you think it would also be a 42 in the Manta Tech? And comfort, do you think it compares to the Ribelles? It was comfy for me, so in hoping it feels the same. I tried the summer La Sportiva Aequillibrium boots, and it wasn't comfy due to the arch.
There are some negative reviews about the mantas. I like them but last time i bought shoes because I like them visually they let me down. But still i want to buy winter boots B2 because I will not climb vertical ice so I dont need auto crampons C3. I was looking at la sportiva but they are very narrow and I dont fancy them. I have about 380 Euros for winter shoes so I dont know I want to check those out in a shop if they will fit me. I hope they are warm up to 3500 m and durable
Thank you so much @shuswapoutdoors - I've been really noodling on your comment about these boots perhaps being "too much boot" but I am really leaning toward investing in a pair too. I'm a Seattle/ PNW based guy who wants to hike recreationally, as well as go to Alaska hunting and have a boot that works for all activities. Sounds like these are what I'm looking for. Cheers, and thanks for your videos - they are really great and hugely appreciated. Great content!@@shuswapoutdoors
Hey, Todd. Do you have any first toughts on those boots yet? I am interested to hear how warm are they as I am looking for a winter boot for hiking in the Alps (2000m+), so crampons are a must, but no climbing. Another thing is, like mentioned, warmth is an important factor, as I do astrophotography and I will have to stand in one place for hours in snow, sometimes even the whole night. So Manta came across as one of the options, another one is Scarpa Mont Blanc. Do you have any other recommendations?
It's hard to say... my feet get cold fast, so I don't find them crazy warm. If I was standing all night in one area, I'd be wearing a pac boot, but those really aren't made for mountaineering.
@@shuswapoutdoors thanks for your answer. Yeah, I did some more reading and those look like more of a "summer" boot with an option for crampons in case you come a cross of a glacier you have to cross. I already own a pair of Sorel Caribu and are OK, but not good for mountaineering. I got a great deal on a La Sportiva Batura... I understand that this is a climbing boot, but it might do great for me.
@@shuswapoutdoors Hey, think i figured t out, my Grivel crampons are better suited toB3 boot, and my mantas are B2 so dont have much of a toe welt... have purchased some Petzl B2 compatible options... my bad... jeez this games expensive, especially when you make errors lol
@@shuswapoutdoors hola de nuevo. Mi duda es si la suela tiene buena flexibilidad como una bota de trekin o si es bastante rígida. No pude encontrar un vídeo donde se vea si la suela se dobla. Gracias por responder!!
Loaded question. Obviously you have an opinion on this. Who do you like better? I think they both make great boots. I've just had better luck with Scarpa.

I have been really happy with mine so far. You can't go wrong with Scarpa boots! Hopefully they serve you well! Cheers!
Great review! I've been trying to decide between a few different options but this has helped a lot, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the information. Do you use this boots for climbing?
I do a lot of Mountain hunting for sheep and Mountain Goats, so steep Rocky terrain and heavy packs far off the trail...

I am little confused between Manta tech GTX & Charmoz HD. which one to pick?
Pick both! Charmoz for summer, Manta for fall/winter.
Same here) Which one did you end up with?
Hey, which model is the one you showed in the intro? The worn one. Thank you from Italy.
Scarpa Liskamm. They were an awesome boot. I wish they kept making them.

I think they would work for you, but everyone's cold tolerance is different
@@shuswapoutdoors Is it going to be comfortable to hike in though? Or not really designed for that
It is for me. The insulation level seems about right for what I'm looking for

Thank you for the review! Are these suitable for summer in the Alps at 13,000ft+ (4000m+) ?
Yes, I'm still loving these boots. Exactly what you would expect from a pair of Scarpa's
Hey @Shuswap Outdoors - any chance of a 12-month update on these boots? Looks like you have put some miles on them since this video!
I could do a short video for sure. But I'll tell you now, they are the best boots I've worn in the mountains! Absolutely perfect for everything I do.

Hey man - have you tried the scarps wrangell yet?
Yes, a decent boot as well
What's the sole stiffness like compared to the Scarpa Grand Dru?
They are pretty close, but I would say the grand dru is a hair stiffer.
How is the manta compared to the grand dru on warmth? Thank you!
The Manta is a hair warmer since it has insulation. The Grand Dru is un- insulated

About to test these out. Any recommendations on best type of crampon to fit, grivel plus 22 anyone??

Hola, queria saber el grado de flexibilidad de la suela. Tenes video donde se vea eso? saludos
They are pretty stiff mountaineering boot. Not ski boot stiff like the mant blanc or grand dru's

It's a rigid mountain boot. It doesn't flex like a lighter weight trekking boot.

3 sets of bottoms on them. Can't beat scarpa for durability
