An hour to lesson plan? Unheard of! It takes me about 5 (not in one sitting). That includes any printing, copying, cutting and glueing that I need to do. And add some of the midweek plan changes, that'll tally up another 2-3. In another note... I started using planbook.com after watching one of your videos. I miss my Plum Paper teacher planner, but I like that I can now get very detailed.

Ugh... the phrase "teach with fidelity" is my least favorite! We have to teach our math program with "fidelity" and I hate it... our kiddos are struggling! But I wish I could plan in a little over an hour! #goals

Yes, I hate teaching with fidelity sometimes. Are kids are also struggling with our math program. I will be making a few tweaks for next year for sure!!

How many hours of teaching time does your "realistic" planning time cover? I mean, is one hour of planning supposed to cover an entire week of lessons? Holy cow! You're wonderwoman!

My planning has become very streamlined. I follow my district curriculum and it's more plug in the lessons and go. I've also been teaching with this curriculum for a year or two so I can now write down the lesson number and know what I'm teaching. But it usually takes an hour to plan out a whole week of teaching. BUT if I'm creating something from scratch for a special lesson or special week, it takes me a few days.

Thank you for sharing all of your insight. In one of your videos I thought you mentioned planning different subjects throughout the week. Do you now do all of your lesson planning on Sunday?

Right now it is a bit different because I have my student teacher. We do most our our lesson planning throughout the week. Normally my preference is to split up my planning into different subject every day. That way it doesn't feel as overwhelming. I decided to film this video so people would see how it all fits together and that it really doesn't take any time at all the lesson plan, even if you block out a chunk of time to do it.
