  • Today was a low level circular walk to Castle Crag from Seatoller. We started from the NT car park and followed a clear path up to Castle Crag where we had spectacular views of Derwent Water and behind into Borrowdale. We completed the walk returning via a path beside Derwent River. Afterwards we drove up Honister Pass, had a roadside picnic with the sheep and returned to explore Grange and enjoy a well earned ice cream!

The smallest Wainwright and the one I have not done lol. Funny enough I was booked to go out with friends to do it 3 weeks again but came down with a heavy cold, so had to cry off. It looks a nice path that you took and nice and clear, so I will get it done this summer. Fantastic weather you had again, cheers Alan

It makes a change for you to learn from me!! The actual climb up to Castle Crag had a few tricky bits including the slates bit but it's worth it for the view. We got a glorious 2 weeks of weather and the next 4 days show it just got better. We tried to walk in the Mournes last saturday but heavy rain put a stop to it. Regards, Ashley. Thx for your encouragement

Nice walk Ashley. We did the same walk a couple of years back, starting from Rosthwaite. The ascent & descent from Castle Crag is quite tricky for a small fell. Nice views from the top of Castle Crag. Cheers. Eddie.

I think going up and down the Slate Hill is very tricky indeed as you say, but it's "risk and reward" with the views. I would do this one again but from your starting place next time. Regards, Ashley
