  • Restoring a legend! - Wadkin Bursgreen AGS 10
It is finally time, after months of work, to get some paint on this old cast iron table saw and start assembling.
After assembly, I did a quick test and it runs beautifully.

    1. more grease oil, really when you think you have way to much you are close. 2. manufacture a dust collection insert for inside the saw as you will eventually want it, and right now is a good time.

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

Looks fantastic! I bought a 1960 model of this saw and painted it metallic green and silver. It’s a real workhorse and nothing stops it. Built like a tank. Love it.

Nicely done. Might I suggest a clear coat for the sign to prevent the bare metal rusting, a coat of pastewax or carwax on the table for rust prevention(oil will soak into the wood you're cutting and cause issues), and replacing the handles on the x and y with crank handles, as it will be faster and more comfortable to turn them

    Very nice Jean!
I just spent about 10 hours sorting out the riving knife support bracket (had to machine a new one) as my identical saw (AGS 10) did not have one.
As with you, this resto has taken me much much more time than anticipated, but am sure we will have solid saws that will still be good in another 50 years!

I have a 1962 AGS 10 and also swapped out the motor to single phase. The riving knife in my model is fixed and does not lift with the blade. I have made a zero clearance blade insert and use Microjig splitters which work well. I have the original fence but it is finicky to adjust. I have subsequently replaced it with a VerySuperCool Tools fence. A great upgrade. It is a great table saw but dust collection was not a key part of the design back in 1962.

You should be very proud of the results; everything looks excellent. Not only does the color scheme and texture look super-clean and sleek, the process of taking it apart gives you very detailed knowledge about the workings of that saw. That will serve you well in the future as you maintain it. It is truly one-of-a-kind now, as you've made it your own. Fantastic work, sir!

I'm thinking, "just work more and buy something you love." Because you're time is also money.
But this really turned out better than my rehabs. By a lot. I rehabbed a jointer and that worked OK but doesn't look awesome. And I tried a bandsaw and that was a complete failure.
I liked the colors, the logo looks better than new.

Question: Will you be removing the table saw section of your workbench and somehow incorporating the restored saw so you can use the bench as an outfeed table? Seems to me you may struggle for space in your shop with two extra large saws set up in there and I'm interested in how you get around that problem.
Keep up the good work 👍

Again, great work man, I love seein old tools brought back from the brink :)
