You simply did a better job of layering more complex flavors. Congratulations, Paula!!!

My grandma was born in the 1890’s, she had the best dumplings. She didn’t over think it, they was just good old dumplings. Simply made, not a lot of extra flavors, hers didn’t need all of this and that. I’d sit at the table and watch her make and then roll out nand cut those perfect things with her gnarled fingers and hands. Always simple, always perfect.
My mama made simple as well. She would boil the chicken with just water salt and pepper… then she would make the dough with just plain flour milk and crisco…then roll out dough and cut in strips… then she would slowly lay the strips into the pot and the flour would make it thicken.. thats it
Love it!! 😂 I was gonna be truly surprised if Michael won because homemade dumplings are just the way to go. And she did season hers.. I mean, this woman had a national cooking show, has restaurants and cookbooks, I would be amazed if she lost to one of the staple recipes that really made her. LOL I really like them and my mother used them too when she did not make my aunt's homemade dumpling dough. My Aunt Annis make homemade dough and I do not even think Anne's Dumplings were even in business then were so good. I know the homemade dough is better. Thank you so much Michael and Paula, this was so cute. It is really great to see Michael on some of your videos, he is so funny.
This has been so fun!! This would be fun to do maybe once a month. Maybe do a competition between Jamie and Bobby, the boys and their mom, the boys and Michael, add Eddie and Teresa in, and Michael's kids if they would like too. It's just such fun to watch and hear the banter!

I grew up with drop biscuit style dumplins and the broth part also had some milk in it. And I think the more biscuit dough style dumplins, the better! I would enjoy the broth better that Michael made because the veggies weren’t cut up in it. But props to Paula for doing homemade dumplins.
I like both as long as they are not tough. I absolutely want tender dumplings. I’ve never heard anyone purposely try make tough dumplings. I didn’t understand that part of that follows recipe, at all.

Columbia Cty, Grn Cty, and western NY (Niagara Falls) and I also lived in Queens (1886 LittleNeck Parkway) + worked in Oyster Bay Long Island. I've never known a single person who has not made & eaten multiple "chicken & dumplings"!!! Generally speaking, especially in winter months, it was in a weekly rotation 🎉🎉🎉

She didn't have all the fat, grissle, vains, or bones in hers either. My mama would make them and they just tasted like chicken stew. Michael’s looked better to me. I couldn’t eat Paula’s because of all of the salt! Way to much with the jarred base and canned soup. I’m sure they taste okay, but my cardiologist would absolutely say no to hers.

Yes, we called those type of noodles pot pie noodles also. I use bisquick to make dumplings and it is very good! Fun video!
