Have you tried BR 540 EDP or the extrait de parfum? What were your thoughts? Did you have to go through a fragrance “journey” with it like I did ?
Ahhhh! You got it, yay! Yes! I had the EDP and didn't like it as much. It was medicinal and not in a good way for me. I also didn't like the ghosting it did. I smelled the Extrait and I almost cried. I literally moaned LOL. Same happened with DE. It's so beautiful.
I went straight for the BR 540 extrait. I skipped the EDP. I like the hair mist too. It's the most complimented fragrance I own.
I had the same problem with BR 540..... i just couldn't understand the rave. The ghosting was very annoying. I got a sample of the Extrait version and loved it. I went back the next day to purchase it
Both r gorgeous scents, imho, but the EDP definitely plays hide and seek with me, for sure, so i prefer the Extrait bc it's like i am wrapped in a bubble of BR540...love it :)
I just got a sample of the BR 540 eau de Parfum and had the same issue so I am glad to know it’s not just me! I’ve heard others say the edp is a beast with crazy projection so I was really confused by the ghosting. The first spray smelled really nice but didn’t seem to last long. I sprayed again the next day and could barely smell anything right after. But hours later when I went outside all of a sudden I could smell it on my skin really well. I really do like it (when I can smell it). Will try to get a sample of the extrait to see how it works for me.
It smells like money because everytime you spray it, you spend money :))))

I love baccarat rouge 540, it has become my signature scent 😍 i iven have a backup bottle 200ml of it 🙈🤍.... I need to try The extrait version. Btw totally agree whit you, ariana grande cloud and burberry her /intense dont smell like baccarat rouge 540 at all.
LoveScent Nj yep, they smell way too synthetic to me. Extract seems more rounded and doesn’t have so much iodine note . I wish it was in a travel size like the edp

Get al haramain rouge, it's a high quality clone of the extrait for a fraction of the cost.
I like the Extrait version way better. I also have a problem with perfume not lasting on my skin so I always pick the stronger version, even without smelling it. The Extrait is also quite sweet on my skin and not masculine at all, rather sugary and I get a lot of Saffron. I love your videos, your taste is always similar to mine. Love from Germany
its lasting your nose becomes enosmic to it. its the super- e molecule. i promise you are still projecting and you are still gonna turn heads! Good Luck!!!

I have the opposite experience with these fragrances! The EDP lasts forever on me and smells amazing, but when i spray the extrait it has that ghost effect and I can only smell it for 10 min then its gone. love the edp so much more

This is exactly what happens to me. I bought the extract and returned it because I couldn't smell it at all after 10 min or so but the EDP is definitely as a ghost, I can smell it at the beginning and than it is gone but people keep smelling it and giving me compliments
I was not impressed with the 540, the Extrait is the full experience, I love that version.
BR540 wasn't a love at first sniff, or second, or third LOL I could ONLY pick up that band aid smell that most people talk about and I could not get why people would rave about something that smelled like hospital! So I kept smelling it and eventually gave up. I just couldn't understand it!
Then, one day after a month or so I tried it again and I don't know why I began to love it ! So much that I immediately bought the full bottle. By the time I tryed the EDP for the first time, samples of the extrait were out of stock on MFK's website, but when I ordered the full bottle of EDP they were in stock. It was love at first sniff and even though I love the kick, the freshness and potency of the EDP I much prefer the softness and that bitter almond of the extrait, so I get the best of the two worlds and I wear both every time 🙈 😂
People always comment on how good I smell and even though I'm not there "my smell" still lingers in the air. It's my signature scent 😍
So I’ve always grabbed a sample of this at my Nordstrom and just couldn’t get myself to spend that much on an actual bottle. Then my high-school aged sister came over and I asked if she was wearing 540 and she said no, it’s a Bath and Body works spray! Sure enough, I got the spray called “in the stars” and I get crazy compliments and it’s such a similar vibe to 540!!!
I have the EDP and a few samples of the Extrait. The EDP last and projects off all day on me, and just like you i can’t smell it all the time either, but believe me, people smell it, because people keep giving me compliments!
I love the Extrait too, it’s a warmer scent and it give me also compliments, but the Extrait stays close to the skin. The EDP is sharper and last longer on me. I prefer the EDP, but i find the Extrait more sensual!❤️
I really enjoy the original BR540 but I'm not obsessed, maybe the 'wow' factor will come later once I give it more of a chance. The extrait version sounds really nice too, the bottle is so stunning.

Omg my two favorite fragrance youtubers in one place! Redolessence was the first fragrance youtuber I ever watched years ago. He ignited my appreciation for reviews. I oddly enjoyed it as background noise. I had only 3 perfumes then. Then I came across your channel, which helped ignite my blind buying of samples 🤍
Redolessence same. I really loved the extract version better: more a almonds, less iodine
A lot of people don’t smell it after a while because you go anosmic, it’s still there and other people smell it on you so don’t write it off on performance - this stuff is eternal lasting!
Well said 😂😂 I also cannot get the whole hype around BR540 🙄 The Oud line of MFK is pure masterpiece... its just fantastic!!! Especially Oud Satin mood and Oud Silk mood. 💖 however, the BR540 is just nice, a bit oriental, well blended, well done and warm, unisex scent with a high quality ingridients that create some aura of sophistication. So sad that I don’t seem to be able to appreciate the BR540. Anyway, thank you for reveiw of Extract version. I have to try this one. Maybe this one would do the trick 😉😘
Love the extrait. My first purchase of these 2 was the extrait because I was testing the EDP and I just couldn’t smell it. After a few months I bought also the EDP just like an extravagance. Wearing both I can definitely say that I would not repurchase the EDP. The EDP is too faint too light and goes away too soon on my eating fragrance skin but the issue is it doesn’t remain even on clothes compared to the extrait which in my humble oppinion should be the scent if the century. The extrait is pure magic in a bottle and If it weren’t the high price tag I would gladly give up to all the other fragrances to wear only this one. The “clones” on the market does not smell the same. So whoever is saying that Cloud or Burberry Her smells the same well is not true! Cloud actually smells super cheap like a cheap generic sweet frag while Her is just an ordinary sweet scent. None of these too has something to do with BR. Because BR is not about the sweetness. It has sweet notes but what people who do not have a fragrance nose do not understand, is that in BR is not about the sweetness it’s about the blend of all the othe notes with the sweetness in the backround that makes it so magic and special. As far as I m concerned I never make confusion on people wearing Cloud or Her or other dupes with BR. What I m trying to say is that I immeadetely can say if a person wears the original or wear a dupe. So yes this is the magic with BR extrait. You made a super good choice!!! ❤️

So interesting to see everyone's review on this fragrance. For me the EDP smell stays very present for a whole day, sometimes two days. If sprayed on my clothes, I can smell it on there until I wash my clothes. I never worn a perfume with this kind of longevity. I do understand fragrances that disappear. My Byredo Gypsy Water disappears on me after a couple of hours.
I have to say this was an old video and my current views on theEDP have changed a bit:). I still haven’t had a lot of time to wear it but I do prefer the EDP now more than the extrait
It was a long journey, it took me about a year. At first I didn't like it much but was still intrigued by it and kept trying it every few weeks. Slowly I started enjoying it and then it became a love. I bought the EDP a month ago. If I wear it every day I become anosmic to it. So I wear it a couple of times a week and have no issues with it, I can smell it on myself with no problem. Lasts a long time and has lovely sillage. I now want the Extrait as well.
The extrait version is not masculine at all is more feminine on me that the edp. Its less woody. Which is why I like it more.

The edp is a molecular fragrance. Which means it’s there, everyone will smell you, except you sometimes. But trust me, it is there 🌟
On me I smell the EdP really well, but never to much and it like to layer the Extrait for the evening, but if I had to choose one of this two, it definitely would be the EdP for me🤩
I find extrait light then the original and its sweet on me because of the almond and not masculine, i love the extrait.

I’d take the EDP and I did! I actually ended up giving the extrait to my boyfriend and buying myself the EDP because I Found the extrait to be better suited for him.:)
@@thesimplechiclife even though you would choose the EDP, is the performance better, or did you pass it over simply because you thought it was too masculine? Just so you’re aware, I’m actually in position to buy one or the other...For me, it’s gonna come down to the one that performs the best
I don't understand everyone saying the extrait smells more masculine. To me it's more feminine than the OG.
I love both and I prefer the Extrait😍 I don’t know if it’s worth the price difference cause they are so similar but I do own 540 and have Extrait on the way lol

Like you,I was initially very surprised at the hype surrounding Baccarat Rouge as I initially did not like it AT ALL.People kept saying give it time and I did.Now its among my top three fragrances.I find it so addictive, classy and unique. I am so glad you like it too🙂
I actually prefer the EDP. It's lighter, more ethereal and suitable year round. The extrait is too heavy and masculine to me, with a weird marzipan smell from the almond note.
Great decision I have both! One was a gift and one was a giveaway gift and I enjoy both but I prefer the Extrait ! The EDP isn’t my fav.

I much prefer the extrait...however both are too sweet for me. They smell like cotton candy to me. But I want to to like it so I can have the bottle! LOL
I prefer the EDP, but I love them both in different ways, and own both. Both were love at first test for me.
Ive tried ariana grandes cloud, manceras instant crush, allsaints sunset riot, bath and body works in the stars but to me, i find cloud to be the best dupe for br540. 😃
I have the eau de parfum. I love it. I was like you and wasn’t impressed at first. It was a blind buy. I wore and after a while could not smell it...... but everyone else could and they loved it. By far my BIGGEST compliment getter!!!
I’m so glad I’m not the only person who’s temporarily and randomly anosmic to the EDP 😆. It’s exactly like you described: 30 min after spraying the sample, I went nose blind, but once in a while, it would peek out. Still very curious about the extrait. TFS your experiences with both. 🙏🏽💟☮️
I still don’t get the hype. Don’t like it at all. Wanted to so bad because EVERYONE raves about it. NOPE
BR540 was not a love at first sniff for me. I thought it smelled strange and didn’t like it. I tried it again several months later and thought it smelled incredible. I now own both versions and have backup bottles. They have been my most complimented fragrances since I purchased them last year.
I can’t even smell it!!!! I ordered a sample of the one you’re talking about in the vid, but the original is way too light!
Mfk has only grand soir and gentle fluidity silver better ones not baccarat rouge extrait

I smelled both and I definitely prefer the original but I also see why many love this one.

Thanks for this video. Actually, Iam wondering if you still have Sweven from Oakcha? If so, I would like to know how do you compare it to extrait de perfume?
The Sweven is supposed to be a dupe for BR540 EDP, and it's very very similar but even with the closest dupes there is still a different I notice. The "real deal" is higher quality and just has this luminosity about it that I can't explain. Have you ever smelled BR540 EDP? :). (Sweven is not similar to the extrait, more similar to EDP)

To be honest, since I have heard that BR540 EDP is mainly molecule based rather than natural based, I have never tempted to try it. However, in the way you explained the extrait version, I would like to try it in future. :)
I just bought this for my birthday and you are spot on ! It last a long time and it’s a nose catcher for sure .!
I bought BR540 a month ago, and I am crazy about that subtle and elegant scent! But I hardly smell it on myself, therefore I can't imagine that it has a great sillage! Today I happen to wear it and I smell it a little more than usual. I hope it will keep on getting stronger! It's a funny perfume, I don't know how to react to it 😊 But I'm obsessed!

I actually bought samples of each and could barely smell f at all the EDP version for some reason, but I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY and loved the Extrait. Here I am on election night waiting on my 70ml to arrive Thursday.
I'm not a fan of Cloud or Burberry Her Intense, so I never had the urge to purchase such an expensive perfume.
I didn't care for the either! That's the thing - I like the real one but not the supposed "dupes". Cloud smells a bit too much still like a celebrity fragrance to me and Burberry Her and the Intense are too sweet with too many berries for me. But I do enjoy Al Haramain Amber Oud Rouge which is eerily similar to BR540.
Exactly the same feelings as you with this scent. I have the extrait, and I can honestly say that I just cannot describe it or understand it - dont get any of the notes at all. I was hoping to smell the almond in it , but cannot distinguish anything. All I smell is sweet burned sugar - candy floss. I bought this blindly because of everyone raving about it. Maybe its my nose, or maybe I just need to try it a few more times to get used to it and give it a chance. Im so glad other people feel the same! Thanks so much for posting your videos, I love them . You will only smell the almond in the opening and after it fades and become the edp kind of smell.

EDP is more luxe. Although OFG is a better and cheaper pick.

I love the edp for more of a daytime/ year round fragrance with the extrait being more of a cooler weather evening fragrance....both very comforting in different ways. Would say if you can afford both to definitely get both!
I prefer the extrait version because it has bitter almonds in it.

baccarat rouge 540 is I think more on gourmand because it smells like cotton candy

Bought this and I started to falling in love with it at the first spray!
I just tried the dupe (alt no.23) for baccarat rougue 540 EDP today and girllll I was like what the hell! It did not wow me at all and I say that with utmost modesty. Everyone says it’s unique smelling but it definitely isn’t to me atleast. I’ve smelled lot of cheap deodorants from my childhood that smell like this. This to me smells like a candy coating on some fruit or something. All in all I am so confused as to why people like this. I just cannot see the speciality in this. This was so disappointing. I only get a very very sweet fruity candy coating, which I HATE fruity sweet smells 🤢🤢
I think most of the people reviewed it this way. That they can't smell BR540 on them but for others, they smell it on you. I heard that's how a molecule perfume should be.
I recently got the Extrait version , given by my friend who’s upset by the fragrance doesn’t work on her , she said after an 1hr or 2 the smell just gone and she doesn’t smell anything on her , clothes even her friends act the same. But after i tried my self, I had a different vibes, it’s just simply work miracle on me ... I can still smell it after 6hr, or 8hr my friend also smell it good . Next day I woke up and still smell it on my wrist, I think some people allergic to expensive luxurious perfume, they just goes blind nose ... they even said the inspired perfume more lasting and smell stronger than original, perhaps their skin attached to it better ... I just shared them this video so they can truly understand their skin type or their smell sense ...

I like BR 540, but it’s that sillage for me...no way am I ever paying that price for a perfume that doesn’t project.
The dry down is so similar to Cloud that I’d rather just stick to that cheaper option 🤷🏼♀️
The Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait is on day 6 of still smelling quite strong on the paper towel that I sprayed it on. I can even smell it 2-3 ft away on day 6.

I bought a decant of both the edp and extrait and was totally blown away with the extrait. stunning! I also can't smell the edp after having smelled the extrait when side by side. on top of love at first sniff, this stuff bakes into my skin and smells hypnotic. the almond takes it to another level-will be purchasing.
I have the extrait and the edp. I do prefer the extrait over the edp. But I. All honesty, parfumes vintage sunset in heaven is my favorite.

I tried the extrait sample I'm preferring more than the edp. I feel it smells much Sevier, not as duped, more unique, and the almond reminds me of biscotti and an Italian almond extract cake.
I haven't smelled Baccarat Rouge 540 I 've heard so much about it since May when I started watching you and the other you Tubers on fragrances.
I don't want to spend so much money on a fragrance, at least for the time being.

I think the closest dupes I’ve found are from Juliannas perfumes, and Oakcha. Those are inspired versions. But Cloud for example is not a dupe; it’s close, but not the same :)
I just added EDP to my collection a Valentines present but I had to go sniff it first. I really like this one but honestly I love them both!! ❤️❤️
I have my nose blind to the EDP which I could only smell the scent for only few minutes and it seems to disappear real quick. The extrait has an almond scent in it and my nose respond to this scent better and last longer on my skin. For me the extrait is the one to go for.
I just bought the oil/hair mist set.
Not ready to take the plunge on the full size extrait/EDP but I picked up Sweven from Oakcha. It has the same ghostly effect on me, I find.
Ok, I did some experimentation lol!
Last night before work I sprayed the Dossier dupe on my front, Baccarat Rouge Extrait on my left side (kind of an elbow side spray), and Sweven on my right (though I believe Orphic is supposed to be the Extrait dupe, haven't tried that one yet. I don't know if I need both...). I can smell the Dossier on my shirt, its gone on my skin. Surprisingly, both Sweven and BR540 E is still present on my skin, very much so on my clothes, especially Sweven!

I totally agree with you. Ariana Grande Cloud is not a dupe to BR540. It is a little similar at the beginning but Cloud is more sweet and dries with more coconut or fruity sweet notes. I have BR540 EDP and is amazing but is kind of a ghost to me too. I cannot smell it after 20 min or so but other people can. Regarding the BR540 I bought the extract at Bergdorff but returned it because I don't know why I count smell it at all from the beginning. I also thought I had bought a old self bottle but I really couldn't smell it. I really want to have the extract and maybe give it a second try. Grand Soir is amazing and totally different from BR540 and also worth to try. I really love it but definitely it is not for a blind buy.
I have been tempted to blind buy Grand Soir but it's very pricy if I end up not loving it! But I definitely need to sniff it one day.

I tried both EDP and extrait. Ordered FB of EDP. It smells less medicinal to my nose than extrait. Now the MFK fragrance that I love in extrait form is Oud Satin Mood. Waaaaay better than the EDP version.
I really enjoy the edp but I have not tried the extrait yet ;)

I have a serious question al Haramain amber oud rouge or the br540 extrait, is it worth the money?
It depends what you want; the Amber Oud rouge has amazing performance and smells almost identical. If you want the bottle and the pristige of the MFK then it may be worth it to you. I don’t have them both in front of me to smell side by side but I remember them smelling almost exactly alike
