I think is amazing that you let MC nurture her passion. She is such a smart little girl. The only thing I was passionated about at her age, was dolls and mud cakes 🤣
MC is the sweetest young lady I ever heard of ! I can only wish my children will turn out as sweet as her !! My children are little boogers right now haha
Can't remember if I've ever seen your chicks with mealworms? I remember how alarmed my chicks were when they first cam face to face with mealworms. After that I bought the freeze-dried bulk variety for the extra protein for the little guys. BIG hug for Mary Carl's generosity and her commitment to taking a hobby to the professional level. She'll be well prepared for a future profession in animal husbandry. I see scholarships and sponsorships in her future.
That was so generous of Marycarl to share her chickens. You and Mrs. Coghill should be very proud. You all have raised that young lady right. Thanks for the video. God loves you all. God bless you all.
Mary Carl is such a special young lady. She has a heart of pure gold and parents that are raising her right. I wish more young people would get interested in things like this.
Thank you Bobbi Porto for sharing your chickens with Mary Carl! We love watching all the beautiful chicken Mary Carl gets. I have never owned chickens and live in the city but get to watch Mary Carl and find out about all the wonderful breeds!
It does my heart good to see MC sharing her love of chickens with her friends. What a sweet soul! It's great you both are supporting her with her focused interests and helping her plan ahead to make her dreams come true. I look forward to her being the #1 Silkie breeder in the US. #girlpower
Mary Carl you are a sweet heart, giving chickens to your friend to make her feel better. I hope one day you become a specialized veterinarian for birds. Here we are waiting for the rain it’s very hot and muggy, 40 c. Stay safe and I wish you all a wonderful day.
You should be so very proud of MC. You raised her right! That is the type of rain we get here in North Carolina's High Country. We get more rain than the Pacific Northwest. We have a lot of predators, including a 600 pound black bear. Chicken wire might as well not be there. We need to use hardware cloth. Blessings to all.
Your daughter. Mary Carl is an amazing young girl. So sweet and a dynamo!! New sub here, I am really enjoying Cog Hill Farm Family!!! Blessings to you all from SoCal.
It's beautiful to see Mary Carl care for her brood, the unconditional love given by all is so special. Y'all are awesome parents. You make a mighty fine squad😊 Cog Family Good thing Peaches and Nugget keep y'all in line😅 ☮️💚😊🌻🐣🐓🐖🐐🐝
MaryCarl is the absolute best!! She sprung right into action when duty called!! I love it... tell her that I’m depressed too and can really use a chicken friend 😉
I don't know what it is about Cog Hill that I love so much, the people and the animals. It's the same thing every day; get the eggs, watch Nugget run, give the goats animal crackers. But then I have been listening to my husband tell the same stories for the past 20 years, and I still love that too.
Awwwe, Good on ya, MaryCarl !! Super sweet to make her friend's day alittle better!! I am excited to see how this showing, chickens, works.. Heck I'm 63 and would love going with ya, to to see.. Can't wait..
Would love for you and/or MC to do a step by step video on the incubation process. We want chickens and want to hatch eggs instead of buying chicks. We just have no clue about the incubation process and the settings. Love watching y’all.
I am looking forward to Mary Carl show her chickens. She know so much about chickens. What really amazes me on how she can keep all of those chickens aprt. Nugget is so darn cute and I love how he follows you guys around.
You must be so proud of Mary , love her passion for her flocks , she will go far for sure , top breeder in the making , with great support from Mum and Dad xx
I'm not at all surprised that Mary Carl shared her chickens with her friend...she's a sweet girl being raised by kind hearted parents🙂 Excited to see her wowing the show chicken community with her knowledge & experience.
I just want to say merry Carl is the most polite and respectable young lady that I’ve seen in the 21st-century because I was raised old-school respect your elders and be seen and not heard. And Mary Carl seems to be that kind of young lady she’s doing a fine job May God continue to bless her I love Your show keep up the good work
Love the silkies we call em mops, love them all. Mary Carl is just an absolute little treasure, I hope she has loads of fun In chook comps. Nugget should go along as the mascot. Look out Dad & Mum you may have to build a separate pen for all the ribbons to come. I was so excited today as the 2 shirts I ordered arrived to our little town in Australia, they are perfect. You are all such a blessing & a treat to watch.
Mary Carl is a sweetie pie !!! I cant wait to see what the future holds in Blue Ribbon Land for her !! We have been getting afternoon thunder storms here in Prattville , every afternoon. I dont want to complain because I know I will be crying, later on in the summer when we might possibly get no rain ! Yep, welcome to Alabama !!
Those silkies are a amazing chicken mama’s..... they are super friendly. Nugget is part race horse? Look at that gorgeous green yard has grown great. Love the new bird house.... looks so nice...
She is a sweet person to help her friend out I no she will do great with her passion she loves to do and she definitely no her breeds of chickens keep up the great job and love y’all show
It is so great that you are nurturing her passion and getting into breeding/showing poultry. Silkies are a great choice, especially for a beginner! I love all poultry (well, all animals really) whether they are purebred or mixed breed, exhibition type or commercial type, but the experience of going to poultry exhibitions, showing your birds, and making new friends among all of the other "crazy chicken people" you meet is an experience that never gets old. If you ever see this, here are a few breeding and showing tips I can think of to give you. First, it will be helpful to get yourselves a copy of the American Poultry Association's _Standard of Perfection_ (newer editions will be more up-to-date on recognized breeds and varieties, but older ones will work as well). That way you will be able to study the breed standards of your selected breeds so that you have a better idea of what to look for when breeding and selecting birds. Next, when selecting and breeding birds, don't get too caught up on specific, individual traits and try to look at the bird as a whole. An expression I've heard is "type before color." Of course, ideally you want a bird that has great type, color, and over all conformation, but if I would have to choose between two birds, I will choose a bird that has exceptional type, but lesser color/pattern, over another that has exceptional color/pattern, but lesser type. Type/ conformation is more important, because it is the type that distinguishes the breed. Another nice saying is "strive for perfection, achieve excellence." You will almost certainly never get that "perfect bird," but you can get very close. That's the point of breeding, to improve your animals with each generation. Also, I personally try to always put the birds first, and productivity, health, soundness, genetic diversity, and well-being will always be my top priority over looks. I'd rather have birds that are strong, vigorous, and productive, even if they are a little lesser looking, rather than birds that look nearly perfect, but are fragile, physically and genetically unsound, and suffer from severe inbreeding depression and other ailments (Line breeding is pretty common in exhibition poultry and can be useful for improving desired traits and getting consistency in your flock, but I believe it can be taken too far and that some level of genetic diversity should be maintained). Finally, always remember that it is ultimately about your enjoyment. It can be easy to get caught up with the desire to win, but it ultimately doesn't really matter what placement you get at a show, or how perfect your birds are. Winning is always nice, but what's truly important is that you always have fun and enjoy what you are doing. I wish you luck it all of your future endeavors. God Bless You!
I had the same issue with the ProVita scoop being so long it was hard to fit back in the bottle. Then I figured out that if you put the handle end (as opposed to the scoop end) first, it slides down easily. That way you don't have to cut it, and it will be nice and long for when you get to the bottom of the bottle. :)
What a nice gesture to give her friend some " sympathy chickens " after her friend's chicken died! I can't wait for MC to write her autobiography when she gets older! It will be a best seller. Also, her name will be the name that people remember when they need chicken questions answered!! She definitely will be an expert in her field, and will have many letters of distinction after her name!! Best of luck to her, and great work Mom and Dad in teaching your daughter the true meaning of Life and Love in this life. God Bless you all ( humans and critters!! )
If MaryCarl is going to show her babies you must get us Tee-shirt with “Cog Squad “ and let us know when she shows...I am an old Alabama chick and want to support this sweetheart.
Silkies are the sweetest birds ever. Even broody they are polite about it! You should try some, they are kid-friendly and make excellent Mommas to anything you put under them to hatch!
Mary Carl is quite the expert. And your kindness to your friend is so commendable. Bet you make your parents proud...How old will Nugget need to be to put him/her out with the others? Love your channel.
bahahahaha I can't believe you cut the handle on the scoop. 🤣🤣🤣 Your next bottle try putting the scoop in handle first. 🤣😉 Very clever way to keep the bowl from tipping over for Nugget.
A) i wish you and Mrs. Cog Hill had been my parents. B) Mary Carl is special in her own right, but her parents have a lot to do with it! C) NUGGET NUGGET NUGGET ROCKS!!!!
Beautiful birds! Good looking out for a friend, MC! I use poultry drench. It has an eye-dropper instead of a scoop. We use heating pads instead of lamps. We have foxes, minks, possums, raccoons, and feral cats around here. There's just so much else for them to eat that our local predators are lazy. That and people leave cat and dog food out on their porches at night.
How Sweet is that little girl you raised up! The Show Girls are too Cool 👍🐦. I think Nugget is buy far the cutest as a Baby💥. You are A smart Dad! JO JO IN VT 💕😄
