- In today's Family Farm Vlog, our friends over at spencer farm have rescued 3 little kittens and MC and Ms. cog hill want one to be the new barn cat here on the homestead.

🍞 Overnight French Toast Recipe: cooking.nytime...
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened, plus more for baking dish
1 pound enriched bread, such as brioche, challah or panettone sliced 3/4-inch thick
¼ cup golden raisins (optional)
6 large eggs
2 ½ cups whole milk
½ cup heavy cream
⅓ cup light brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of freshly ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
⅓ cup pecans, chopped (optional)
Confectioners’ sugar for dusting (optional)
Maple syrup, for serving
PREPARATION
Butter a 2-quart baking dish. Butter the front sides of the slices of bread and shingle the slices upright in the dish, overlapping as necessary. Nestle the raisins evenly between the slices of bread but not on top.
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and salt until well combined. Pour the milk mixture over the bread and press the bread gently to absorb. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Remove the plastic wrap. Sprinkle the pecans evenly over the top. Bake until puffed, golden and set in the center, 50 to 60 minutes. While baking, if the top begins to get too dark, tent with foil. Let stand 10 minutes. Dust with confectioners’ sugar and serve with maple syrup.

I don't mean to be mean or rude at all. Nor a KNOW IT ALL. HOWEVER.... I'm begging you to please not leave a collar on the kitten. Even if it's a breakaway collar. There are just way too many things for a cat to get hung up on and strangle itself if the collar malfunctions! And there's things everywhere for that to happen. Im a cat breeder- let me see if I can help you to 100% determine the sex of the baby😊 It looks old enough by far that if it's a Male, his testicles should have dropped by now. (I wish I could attach photos here) BUT... if you feel right below his hiney, there should be a scrotum or sack with his 2 testicles in it that you should be clearly able to feel. So.... if there's nothing there... Spencer is a girl. If you feel testicles.... then Spencer is a Spencer! LOL!!

Gorgeous kitten. Sickening what people do. Throwing kittens and puppies in garbage cans and on the side of the road. My son in law used to empty the big garbage dumpsters and I can't tell you how many animals he found in them some he heard them and went in and found them others it was too late they were crushed. He saved alot found new homes with the employees that worked there they all loved all kinds of animals ❤
Just wanted to say please don't feed any cat special kitty brand food! Iams is the cheapest healthy cat food I've found. Obviously wean her to the new food not all at once :)

MC is like me. As a child I brought everything home. As an adult I hit a duck on the road. I stopped and wrapped it in a blanket and took it to the vet who sent it to a wildlife rehab facility. It lived. It pooped on me in the car and ruined my shirt. My family still gives me grief over saving this girl mallard. I have zero regrets ☺️🎄❤️🇨🇦

This had to be scripted. My wife would come home and say, "I got a kitten." To be fair, I sent her a video of the dog I got when she was in another state visiting her family.
Its called showing your husband respect to ask. Just as a husband doesn’t just come home with a big dog without talking to his wife. Respect
Well it's just polite- that way they feel they also should ask instead of coming home with a buffalo or something.
He'd have to come in the house with me , he's so darn cute. My last cat I found on a dirt road in Missouri, found out real quick that she was going to be the boss of the house. She ruled her 4 canine sister's and my hubby and me. Had her for 17 years.
You guys crack me up when you talk to the animals like they understand you. Which in their special way they do understand. That alarm system gets louder every time I see them. Mary Carl is in the back set just smiling from ear to ear when you started talking about the orchids. Spencer is beautiful. You all are such warm hearted people.
But of course they understand🙂at least that's what my 3 dogs tell me 🙃🐾🙃

I think that baby needs to be a house cat. With that light long fur it’s going to need to be brushed regular or it will mat terrible. Plus it will get filthy. He’s so beautiful. I wish I didn’t have allergies. I would have 6. Congratulations on Spencer. ❄️❤️🇨🇦

His breed would be considered a Domestic Medium or Long Hair. It depends on how much his fur grows.

My little fuzz ball was about a year old when I adopted him from the pound after our last kitty passed. I’d start up the vacuum and he’d come running to be vacuumed. We had him for 18 years and will always be missed
I once was saving a turtle in the road and found a small kitten. She barely fit in my hand. I've had kiki for 4 years now.
See we need more people like us in office ,not these evil human beings

You are a very caring person to take the time to stop, you rescued a friend for life! I have helped many turtles across the road too. I rescued some kittens on the side of the road also, they were not even weaning age, but I raised them & found them homes as I was not allowed to keep them.

I was cat bombed a few years ago - someone put a cat in a Rubbermaid bin, and left it by my front door. At least they picked a good home.
Yeah, and at least they didn't just throw it somewhere.
That happened to us in 2009. Someone tried to drown 2 tiny kittens in a pond, but I guess they couldn’t go through with it. They fished them out and put them on our front porch half frozen, (in 26 degrees!) knocked on the door and then ran. (We have the house right next to the pond.) One has since passed on, but her sister is still with us and just celebrated her 12th birthday. And since then, we’ve had 3 more that were “gifted by the pond”, as we refer to it, and one that my husband found with her head stuck in a sewer grate at work. Lol 😂. I have 5, and didn’t have to go pick out any of them. And they’re all unusual breeds too!
I wish I had seen this sooner. Can't believe how much Mary Carl has grown up since then. Much love ❤❤❤
My dogs where from a litter from a dumped dog, she was a nice lab dumped in the middle of nowhere. Thankfully somebody picked her up and she ended up with a family friend, then they asked my grandparents and then they asked us to take a puppy or two from the 9 pup litter. We picked out 2, a brother and sister. We lost the sister, Jessy, a year ago from throat cancer, but the brother, Leto, is still with us at 13 years old. they have been the best lab mystery mixes ever.
We just lost our oldest cat this year , Johnny was 23 years old , working on getting another one , told hubby it was either another cat or a pet pig and or some chickens 😁🐈🐖🐔
I always had three cats at a time, and that in a small apartment. It was no more trouble than one. They loved each other all their lives, they loved me all their lives, they played together and slept together all their lives.

When you buy a new orchard they are all nice and in bloom, the trick is after they are done blooming. To get it to rebloom is the test of a true Orchid lover!
As a retired florist I also love orchids. Unfortunately I've never been able to grow them. She is a special girl you have. God bless
I didn't realize that orchids require very special care. I did some research on them in order to save one that was given to me. They are so beautiful and as they begin to look like they're dying, they get tossed when actually it can most likely be revived with some help. Mine is still alive, not blooming, but still beautifully green. 👍 When it was mentioned that Mary Carl loves orchids, I was immediately impressed! She certainly is a special little girl! 🙏

Mary Carl is very special. She has such a heart for all of God’s creation and a mind like a sponge. Thank goodness that you home school her so there is no one trying to make her fit into someone else’s mold. She is going to be a great blessing to world all of her life.

I mentioned that to Jason a while back. He said they all wear them. Brooke's is just worn as a lap belt. But it's there. Jason made a point of showing him putting on his belt in this vid. Yep, I got it.

Spender will have a full and happy life at coghill farm. There’s no doubt about it!
When my Grandfather retired in 1969, he became the caretaker for a girl scout camp, that was overrun by chipmunks that had chewed their way into just about everything. One morning he had walked out to the mailbox, when a car pulled up so closely that it almost hit him, the window came down, and a hand came out, dropping a calico kitten at his feet, the car took off without a word. My Grandfather picked it up, and took it up to the house, and fed it some milk, from that moment on that cat and my Grandfather were inseparable, she even took to riding around the place draped around his neck like a cat stole. That car ( and later her progeny) became a chipmunk assassin, it wasn't long before the chipmunks were under control, my sister became very fond of that cat, and to this day one of her favorite possessions is a small porcelain statue of the cat and two of her kittens, that was made by my grandfather's neighbors wife, who was a porcelain doll artist.

I want a calico kitten. The most I saved was a couple of full grown roosters dropped off by the road and a wild turkey chick that I found that looked under a week old that was lying weak in my foot path and I just scooped up.

*When my son was 5 years old he saw an injured pigeon flopping on the road and demanded I pull over. I did, administered care, it lived, he renamed it “Peter the Robin” and demanded that we keep it.*
*We did NOT keep it, but he was happy when he watched it fly away with a huge flock! He’s now a young adult that genuinely cares about and for others. I still can’t get over how he upgraded the kind of bird it was...* 😂 😂 😂

That kitten is absolutely beautiful. His furry tipped ears and large muzzle around his nose makes it seem he does have Main Coon Cat in him. Best cats I've owned were Main coon mixes. He looks about 8-9 weeks old. Undoubtedly he's been socialized with people by his behavior. Someone just couldn't or wouldn't take the time to find them a great home. Shame....but now he's got a great one with you. Best of luck with him.

Lovely family,the husband speaks so highly of his wife and his wife is lovely it's created an air of love and contentment for the whole family, this little girl is so grounded and sweet - love and blessings to them!
One way to tell a kitten's sex is look at their privates, if the opening is round it's male, if it's elongated it's female.
Space between rectum and urethra really doesn't tell you much. Some females have larger distance between the 2.
Sometimes a males gonads are undestended until they're older and sometimes they remain hidden within the body and need surgery to remove them.
I currently have 40 cats all spayed or neutered and run a rescue so believe me I'm familiar with most things cat 😉
I've had several with undestended testicles who needed a slightly more involved surgery to neuter them
Wise choice to worm the kitten. Usually when cats pass gas they have intestinal parasites
*"undescended" - always ask Google if you're unsure. 👍 😉

@@KaitlynBurtonISaGOD Me too!!!! Try to find somebody to do it with you so that you’re not alone and take it slow because Vets have reportedly very bad mental health because of the stuff they do and see, so take it slow and try to find light and do your best and don’t do anything alone!!!!

Safety tip: to avoid choking or hanging itself, the cat should wear a break away collar designed for cats. The one he is wearing won't and could be dangerous for an adventurous kitten!
I have had that same collar for my cats and it is a breakaway..

Earlier this year I found a baby kitten roughly 2-3 weeks old, had to nurse him back to health. Glad I did, he is such a sweety and turned into such a big boy (I miss those kitten days, too busy being tired lol.)

Orchids have become so common here. I remember when you couldn't find them in our Oregon stores, except for the odd corsage for prom at grocery store check outs. Several years ago I was given a really cool little Orchid called Luscida discolor. I wondered if MaryCarl had heard of this one. The flowers are small, but their being delicate in size and in sprays on the stems makes them look almost like butterflies above the plant. The leaves are very cool looking too, dark green with red pinstripes. It is an easy one to grow and one I recommend. There are a few varieties related to it that are quite pretty too, all with unusual leaves making them attractive even when not in flower. Orchids are addictive, and that comes from someone who never used to like them and now loves them. SO WHEN IS THE ORCHID COLLECTION TOUR? 💕
Oh my gosh what beautiful kittens. Spencer is adorable, beautiful green eyes. I have a beagle named Pixie that I found dumped on the side of the road. Just can't believe how people do that especially when you look into an animals eyes at the unconditional love, just like God looks at us. & I your peacock is absolutely sooooo beautiful, all your birds are but he stands out, WOW 👏. She has taught a ton about silkies and hatching eggs!! I wish I could give her this poor orchid I have at my house...it is not doing well! Have had cats all my life, and yes thats the way you tell!
Oh my gosh y'all, that kitten is adorable, he reminds me of my Smokey when he was still alive. Mine was an indoor cat all grey long haired and huge paws, he was the best snuggler ever! I am looking forward to seeing Spencer grow! ~peace
