我這裏翻譯用的是“聖公會”的字面意思，“聖”即holy, “公”即catholic，"會"即Church. 所以從廣義上來説，所有的正統基督教派都可成爲聖而公教會的一部分。這個用法也不是我獨創的，在古老的使徒信經（基本上所有正統教會都認可的古教義）中也説到基督徒信”聖而公之教會“。這裏的原文的”公“就是英文中的Catholic. 這個詞來自於希臘文中的“以公爲準”的意思。
