Michele hope you had a great cruise. How was the "traffic flow" at the Windjammer buffet vis a vis crowds and lines? Also - how was the food? Was it somewhat fresh hot etc? Thanks
Always went the buffet for lunch and breakfast occasionally. The main dining room buffet was nice for breakfast, less options but all the essentials and more fresh fruit like strawberries
For savoury breakfast I would go Omelet with ham and cheese or the eggs benedict!! with side of bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, grilled tomatoes, buttered toast. For a sweet breakfast, I would go for the strawberry pancake or waffles with blueberries, strawberry sauce and whip cream! Hungry just typing this out haha
Peach yogurt, banana, milk, hash browns sausage, scrambled eggs hope you have a great time ! Thanks for taking me with you I have Ben following you for about a year and a half , Thomas from Saint Augustine Florida 💜🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢
More selection than carnival. Since I’m now celiac, I usually just go for sausage eggs and fruit for breakfast and some cheese. I tend to go overboard on cheese when cruising.
I would try all the things I’ve never had before, or at least a little of as many as I could because I love trying new foods :) anddddd I would top it off with one of those amazing looking donuts or muffins! And I would make myself a fancy coffee like you have made! 😋 I’ve never been on a cruise(it’s a dream!!) and I am blown away by how many options there are there! I feel like even if I chose to go there each day it would be no issue at all!!
I don't know If the Anthem is like the Rhapsody, but my my favorite was one of those ham and arugula croissants in the solarium café .It's so peaceful there in the mornings. Breakfast is too early to deal with 1) the herd and 2) the grease-fest in the Windjammer. Also, LMAO at the windjammer serving last night's fruit soups as smoothies . I used to sneak the soup into a glass after dinner to do the same thing! X-D
So many options! I would love a ham and cheese omelette! The fruit looked good but so did the bacon mountain, crispy just the way I like it! I didn’t see any chocolate cake doughnuts though, they are my favorite. I’m not a big fan of oatmeal and the Asian food didn’t look to good but I’m not very adventurous with food. Thanks for sharing the buffet with us!
No Fruit Loops for me!! I do like muesli for breakfast on a cruise & a made to order veggie & cheese omelet! Also enjoy fresh fruit (a fruit cup is nice)! I also like smoked salmon & sliced cheeses (Havarti is nice) - and a whole grain roll with butter. Maybe a Danish pastry or a bran muffin & a pot of hot tea with lemon & honey!! The only time I’ve had rice for breakfast was when I was in Hawaii!! No fried fish for breakfast!!
Thank you so much for this video. I was trying to figure out if plain coffee was included with breakfast. Thanks to your video, I now know that it is included. I am overwhelmed by the choices. I would probably get an omelette with veggies.
I was on anthem for my last cruise in March on 2019. Le sigh.....My hubbys 50th birthday cruise in April on symphony of the seas was of course cancelled. I think I ate in the windjammer once for breakfast. Went down the the little cafe next to two 70 more often.

Looking at this during Corona pandemic time, I am cringing at all the ppl using the same tongs..guess there will be some good changes that come out of this pandemic as far as food safety on ships are concerned. @@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides you would have to be a massive picky eater to find nothing on that buffet. What would you eat at home that you didnt find there???
I would feel pressured to try the beetroot water just because it was offered so many times at the start of the buffet. It wouldn’t cross my mind normally, but perhaps I’d be missing out if I passed it up? Then I’d get fresh cut fruit, a grilled tomato, French toast, and the #baconmountain.
I would try the beetroot juice. The breakfast ham, bacon, or sausage, hash browns, the flower-shaped waffles and a lot of fresh pineapple. I'll wash it down with some herbal tea. Traditional and boring but hearty!! We have booked this as our next cruise😁
This was very helpful! I have a gluten allergy, so it’s a bummer not to have allergen labels on some of the less-obvious items (although you might feel the same way at times as a vegetarian!). Did you happen to see how they were handling allergies/preferences?
Tiny Fitness i am gluten sensitive -not celiac- and there are gluten free options available on NCL- you need to ask ahead of time and be prepared to wait. I was able to get a gf pizza made to order from the pizza station. It wasn’t on the placard so I asked. It’s also great to see footage like this of all the healthy options that are available so I can help them plan their choices.
Tiny Fitness there are tons of healthy choices. You just need to be creative and flexible. I am mostly wfpbgf. I am able to eat plenty on a cruise. Its not like at home with my homemade nut cheeses and cashew cream sauces but its a cruise and I don’t have to cook. There is added oils and butters to some things but not everything.
I was happy with his buffet. The food problem was ice cream. Soft sever hours were poor. The machine was down a long period of time. The last night they gave hard ice cream but they horded it. Only one scoop per person.
My next cruise is booked on anthum. Did you happen to see a Gluten Free area in the windjammer. If not that's cool and Thanks for another great video. As for what I would choose. Eggs and Yogurt with fruit. If have gluten free I would add some toast.
First I'd tackle #baconmountain and get the crispiest pieces I could find. Then I'd hit up all the cold cuts and cheeses. Finally, I'd get an omelet, cooked in butter snatched from the Bakery, with all the veggies. Pre-Keto, I'd have dived into the hash, the croissants, all the fresh melons and the hash browns. I have not been on Royal yet and I really want to so I can compare it to Carnival since I've already done a few. I recently sailed on Carnival Panorama and overall was not thrilled with the food. It was mostly average and nothing really blew me away, and that was both the paid restaurants and the Lido buffet. I hear Royal is better in both. Two years ago I sailed on Princess ship Royal Princess and the buffet was a lot better than Panorama. I like to judge a cruise by it's buffet and wondering which cruise line between Royal, Carnival and NCL) has the better buffet and food overall? Thoughts anyone?
Renee Jones you need to visit Dublin for that! I was at a lovely pub for breakfast and asked “is it too early for breakfast whiskey”? The waitress, without missing a beat said “arrch, it’s *never* too early for whiskey in Dublin” and proceeded to suggest ‘hot whiskey’ as a suitable breakfast drink. It was lovely, I had two, perfect with my Irish pork sausages, eggs, tomatoes etc.

Breakfast is good with lots of options, and dinners are generally pretty good on RC cruises. Lunch is not so good. Desserts are generally not very good...too much whipped cream or whatever the fluff is they use. Regarding breakfast, RC does need to learn how to fry bacon. It is either all matted together and sitting in lard, and/or pretty raw. No such thing as crisp bacon on RC unless it gets fried twice in which case it is burnt but true to tradition it will still be covered in lard. Due to the international chefs , I think, they don't really know how to cook American food. They always seem to add some foreign twist to the recipe....adding some secret ingredient that pretty much destroys the food especially desserts. Ice cream is sometimes good at Sprinkles...the soft serve machine on the lido deck... but tends to be too soft. Ice cream served in the Windjammer and dining room is always too soft (melted). I think the reason for this is that they usually have a 90-pound girl who has to scoop it out of the container.
I noticed this too about the bacon on rc....it's always swimming in grease and soggy, never crispy. It always looked undercooked. I'm vegetarian anyway, luckily
