"I'm not sure what the priorities are here".
1 The car that gets there first has priority, so it was you.
2 In the event of a tie, the car to your right has priority.

Top priorities are "keep it rubber side down" , and "don't hit anything" !

Welcome to "the states". You are going to have a great time. I've been watching Itchy Boots who was heading north in the early summer. Her videos are several weeks behind. The current videos have her in Canada headed to Alaska. Have fun, stay safe and remember to ride on the right. 😀

Haven't done Alaska but the Yukon is amazing. So much to see and do in Canada. Drove through the Rockies in Alberta in a car, would love to do it on a bike.

    Can’t wait to see more.
Same latitude as the south of Norway. I had the same kind of foggy weather there in late July.
I even had snow in mid summer there; so 🥶🥶.
The polar circle is further away than you think. About a two days ride I guess with those speeds.
Great surroundings. A lot more trees than in the mountain part of Norway.

You’re lucky you got the bike you wanted. I did a tour of the west coast, I ordered a Jeep Cherokee but ended up with a crappy Buick. LA, SanDiego, all the way up to Seattle then home. Good times though. That was in my mid twenties, forties now. I’ve lost my confidence a bit after dealing with anxiety issues especially after the stupid lockdown 😤. I love your channel and the legend that is Freddie Dobbs. I long to get my confidence back to be able to do stuff like you guys. Keep up the good work 👍🏻🇬🇧

The gap in the doors in the rest rooms is to allow the stankie air to flow out of the stall. It is also for cleaning the floor with a wet mop and not stain the door with mop water. Also to get access to a person in trouble if the door is locked.

Amazing Video Mr Flayer on your tour of Alaska and Canada. What great scenic views of the mountains and river as well. I would be stopping very ten minutes to take pictures of these amazing views. The BWM is a great choose of motorbike. Had to smile has was think about Itchy boots and her road trip and you mention her in video. It’s a place a loved to go one day. I have been to Canada once only for two day I played in a R&B festival. I look forward to next video soon.

Stunning countryside mate, great to see your better half riding with you. Also, interesting to note the “ride on right” sticker. Coming from Australia, I know sometimes you zone out and end up on the left hand side of the road. Especially when exiting a petrol station.

    Really enjoying this first episode.
Rest assured, every US spec GS that you can actually buy comes with what BMW calls the “premium” package. It basically converts the bike from the stripped down model you rode into a bike that is probably indistinguishable from your TE version.
I am surprised BMW had such a basic bike for a rental? A bike with no cruise, proper sat-nav integration, ESA, etc. doesn’t make a very good impression and won’t help BMW sell many bikes.
And I can appreciate your comment about over-engineering in America. As an American who personifies that, I’ll tell you why I think you see so much of that. It basically comes down to many of us Americans wanting to “be prepared” for any contingency. Sure you don't utilize the towing capability of big truck every day but it is nice to have that capability should you need it. It is like having a big powerful touring bike with may more power and utility than you NEED to tour whereas a 650 twin will get the job done just as well but is is nice to have all that extra of everything you could possibly need.
Looking forward to your next installment.

Brilliant! I didn't get my bike licence 'till I was 50 (23 years ago) persuaded to do it by flying mates who were also bikers (the two interests often go together as you of course know). I signed up for a Motorrad Tour after just a year and a bit of motorcycling - Spain & Morocco! I explained to the tour organiser that I was pretty inexperienced but they said I'd be fine - and I was! By then I'd been through a VFR and a Blackbird (neither of which gelled with me) and had a 4 year old R1150GS, which I found suited me well except it was a tad tall for my 29" inside leg (this was before the days of lowered GS availability).
I had an absolute whale of a time! I loved it! Your 'ride on the right' sticker looks a tad inconspicuous,. Coming off the ferry at Santander an experienced member of our group on discovering I'd never ridden on the right before took one of the white sticky tape labels the ferry company stick on your bike, tore off a 2-inch length, and stuck it on the RH side of my windscreen, folded round so it was stuck front and back of the screen, and always in my line of sight. "Keep the edge of the road on that side" he instructed. That tape did its job a couple of times on that trip. We gelled into a group of 30 or so mates on the 3.5 week epic, and met up for weekend rides after that holiday such was the camaraderie. I even took some of them for aerobatic experiences in our Chipmunk!
Later, I did another Motorrad trip to the Italian Lakes with many of the mates who I did Morocco with. Not quite as much an adventure as the Sahara, but fabulous fun none the less, especially the Stelvio and other Alpine and Dolomite passes. Our tour leader to Morocco was absolutely superb; the one to Italy less so.
I usually rode with a couple of more experienced bikers, but in these days of universal sat navs I might have risked some solo riding.
I shall watch the rest of this series with interest! But to this day (although Motorrad make it easy by booking all ferries and hotels) I still find it amazing that I rode my bike from home in Cheshire to the Sahara desert and back.

Welcome to Alaska! Had to smile when you said it was "The height of Summer"
..Actually August is the beginning of our Fall season..it can be rainy definitely...looks like you had some spectacular weather once out of Anchorage. Surprised you didn't choose to visit Denali Park . Enjoy and safe travels. Cheers!

As you know there's an awful lot to see and do in the Pacific Northwest - we only had a month on the bike so could only scratch the surface....we will be back!

Wow! You're a lucky guy Andy. Fantastic scenery and the roads look great as well. I had to smile when you mentioned the traffic getting 'heavy', four or five cars in front of you! 🤔. I'm really looking forward to your next instalment.

When you get to Washington state check out forest road 70 . Go through green water town and turn left on 70 . It’s got the best view I have seen in my life of mount Rainier.

Great ride. Looks wonderfully beautiful. You never know what you are going to get when your mind starts wondering on a bike: "The Compare and Contrast of Toilet Doors, UK vs US..." LoL

Great start to what I'm sure will be a cracking tour. We returned to the UK after living in the US for a few years and we did many roads trips to see what the country has to offer, but like you, we broke down our trips by coffee shop stops. You get to see small town America if you chose to stay away from the main routes. We now have a collection of coffee mugs from all of the states that we visited and every day we pick a different mug for our cup of Joe and they invoke great memories of a fantastic period in our lives. Enjoy your time on an epic road trip!!

Hi, we toured Yugoslavia in the late 80’s with Bike & Sun Tours in the uk on my Z1000 ELR, exactly the same setup, really enjoyed going places without getting lost!

Yes there is a lot to be said for touring with people that have been there and done it before isn't there....

Lovely to see these types of videos. My last trip to the states was summer 2019. I rented a bike in Vancouver and spent 2 weeks riding roughly south, ending up in LA. It was a fantastic trip, and this reminded me of how much fun riding in the states can be.
