    Got one of these for 10 bucks at a pawn shop! I love it. They were smart to sharpen both sides of the tip.

    The primitive bush Mondo is fantastic, it takes down dry bamboo an inch thick with one or two chops every time. Works better than a heavy cane knife I own. I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see it, I’m honestly tempted to buy more up since they’re discontinued but you can still find them fairly readily.

    Bryan, I have one of these and I found that if you put a lanyard on the knife that fits tight to the hand the knife won't slip when you chop. Great blade, great video. Man, I wish I could throw knives as you throw. It is a thing of beauty and talent.

    If I'm not mistaken that hole is supposed to represent the eye of a condor. It's also on some of their other knives and machetes.

      On most machetes the hole is to hang it on a nail.
      The sheath is made like a traditional Central American machete sheath. I have a 16" sheath I bought in Yaviza Panama that looks similar.

    I have quite a few Condor knives I have picked up over the years. I read in a brochure from that the holes in the Condor blades are used to bend test the blades.They are decently priced, quality tools. Thanks for the review.

    I have one with the micarta handle. I believe it was the 2nd edition of this knife and based on memory I believe it's supposed to be made out of a harder steel than the original. It's a cool knife but mine didnt hold up and actually I saw deformations in the edge when chopping through pine. I admit I probably just got unlucky. The hole in the blade is a brand mark "eye of the condor". Funnily enough my favorite part of the knife is the sheath, I really like how it just slips securely into your belt. It's a cool knife but I kinda regret getting it, It now sits in the door pocket on my truck and I don't really see it going anywhere else

  • @runlevelzer0
    @runlevelzer0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Joe Flowers spoke about the hole about a year ago. It's called the "Eye of the Condor" and is purely aesthetic. Pine can work fairly well for a bow drill as long as it's dry and not full of resin. I'd recommend a piece from the tip of the limb. Great review, as usual, thanks my friend.

    I'm a huge condor fan. They are affordable and very good knives. I grabbed the primitive folder and love it. I think I have more condor then any other brand. 2018 condor line up is without a doubt gonna break my bank. Otzi knife I'm dying to get and the terrasaur (a Joe Flowers mora). Also both of Walters blade look amazing

  • @RadDadisRad
    @RadDadisRad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the price point and what you can do with it’s a great knife. It really sacrifices most other traits to be a better chopper than a regular bush craft knife. This is definitely a good candidate for being a large camp knife. Not a huge fan of 420HC because it’s about as soft as a cheap axe. Would love it if it was slightly harder, sub 62 hrc, but without going into fancy super steels.

    So glad to hear you getting back to the basics, brother. Love your knife reviews, and love most things Condor. Have a Condor parang that is so easy and ergonomic I use it all the time outside for a multiple of tasks. About this knife: perhaps it would chop better if you had a lanyard through the back grommet. That will secure the grip mo' better and give you a little more swing...maybe.

And the sheath is equally beautiful. It is definitely on my " Knives to get" list along with Condor Huron and Bushlore with micarta handle. I might go with the micarta handle with that one as well. And for once they are all available here too ;) Great review as always Bryan! Have a great weekend :) Big thumbs up!

    I would bet money that Matt would say that that hole is for straightening arrow blanks. apparently it's also representative of the eye says folx below in the comments. it also cuts a bit of weight.. but i'm certain it's to straighten arrow shaft blanks. heat up the shaft blank over the fire and stick it in that hole. bend it straight until it cools. then move to the next bend. you can fix some decent crowns that way. works better than a knee cap.

      Piece of junk? I have to completely disagree. It may not be for everyone but it is certainly Not a piece of junk.

    This knife is way to thick behind the edge thickest I've ever seen in a knife..I love the handle but the grind makes it hard to use for anything mine bounces more than bites it's to thick
