Taxis are everywhere, but depending on where you're going, you may want to book it with the concierge if it's a distance. There is a lot to see within walking distance as well. I went to the water temple and booked a taxi the day before.
I never saw any monkeys on the property. The only time I saw them in Ubud was in the morning when they wandered away from the monkey forest and were running around on the power lines.
