I'm getting certified with NCCER for CSST, CSSO & CSSS, I have been working in refineries for at least 8 years now, but is there any other field that might be a good idea exploring, specially some industries that hire Safety technician without "experience" besides how I applied safety on my regular daily basis at the field

Here in India many HSE Manager prepare the check list & make inspection ownership is Safety Officers.
As per legal requirements Inspection ownership belong to certified Inspection Authority + Certified Crane Operator+ Certified Rigger + Rigging Supervisor.
Then what is role of Safety officers ownership.
Legally safety officers role is make sure review or cross verify all Crane, Operator, Riggers documents are genuine, not expired, permit related all valid documents &TBT are completed.
In one word Safety officers not responsible for inspect the Crane.
Experienced Rigging supervisor responsibility or Engineer responsibility to prepare Crane validation and lifting plan.

You can get some certs now... you can find internships and apprenticeship while attending college (if you chose that route). Having experience in a field you're trying to start safety in will help (this is my opinion... I'll be shadowing my safety man after I'm done with this job )

There is an occupational safety and health major for bachelor degree programs. If the program is QAP certified through the credentialing body (USA), you will graduate with a Graduate Safety Professional Certification (GSP) and can start searching for employment right away.
Don’t listen to these folks encouraging you not to get a degree. You will need to work approx. 3 years to qualify for a mid-level position if you start without a degree. The bar is being lowered so that more male candidates can qualify for jobs since a lot of them are refusing to go to college.
