Great tips! I was surprised at the beginning when there was no catspaw on the bench, but the one you brought out later has been a key tool for my salvage renovations for decades. If it's like the one I bought from Lee Valley, it's remarkably strong and seems indestructible. I've sometimes sharpened mine and used it as a rough chisel. In a recent remodeling project I used it that way and also used a much larger catspaw to dig under the heads of some construction nails with the claw to pry them out enough to then use a heavier pry bar the rest of the way.
