The Product Owner (PO) in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) plays a crucial role in ensuring that Agile teams deliver maximum value while aligning with customer and stakeholder needs. Key responsibilities include connecting with customers, contributing to the vision and roadmap, managing and prioritizing the team backlog, supporting the team in delivering value, gathering and applying feedback, and supporting PI planning. To enhance their effectiveness, POs should pursue SAFe certification, develop strong communication and negotiation skills, stay current with industry trends, engage in networking opportunities, hone problem-solving and analytical skills, and learn from failures for continuous improvement.

Great session & very clearly explained, good job
Great video. Thanks a lot!
Really clear and easy to understand, Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful! We do have many videos on SAFe , and also started one podcast series on SAFe now.
Good and crisp explanation
Thank you.
Iam new in my role as PO and my team is unable to provide time outside refinement which they expect me to provide specifications til configuration level. Mow how do I solve this problem ad ism unable to work on requirements and specifications without collaboration to team. Is PO expected to provide details until configurations level??
See the exact role is defined by company and the work they expect, framework and guides gives high level details. What i see is your company need technical PO or more like System Analysis rather than Business Analysis, you may have conversation to understand the role expectation and find if you need to build some skills to meet the expectation or may set the expectations right.
Thank you Saket
Saket ..one challenge I face : how much of stories should be groomed and ready before a PI Planning meeting ? I typically do PI planning once we are around 80% stories defined ..is it’s right approach ?
From SAFe, the PI planning happens in Cadence which mean you do it as per schedule based on PI length, usually the level of refinement depends on details available and predictability in planning needed. Usually we see 60 to 80% refinement done before PI Planning
Thanks Saket ..
