At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

They ruined Nigar so much!! She was a MAIN character and fan favorite. It*s a shame how they ruined her only to make Ibrahim as close to Suleiman possible. A greedy ambitious dude, womanizer.

This actress that replaced Hurrem is very good. It’s too bad that the first Hurrem is the one I loved. After 100 episodes it’s impossible for any actor to replace her. I blame the Producers. What a horrible decision. Rumour has it that the Actor who played Suleimein got 66,000 per episode and the gal who played Hurrem was paid 12,500 per episode. Talk about wage discrimination? If true.

I hate the fact that even Suleiman doesn’t call Hurrem a sultana yet.
In fact he’s quite awful in the whole season one.

why are people so biased towards hurrem all the time ? i get mahidevran has done stupid things but...yall stand up for hurrem even after what she did to gulnihal....and here suleiman is right ....she did disrespect mahidevran and even tried to harm mustafa.....also dont forget how hurrem tried her best to take out mahi out of the palace when she became harems owner....that time you were busy praising how intelligent she was..if hurrem suffered mahi suffered twice as she lost suleiman and her children very soon as well

both mahi and hurrem are victims, sultan is the main culprit, he's the one putting women against each other. Ofc ur gonna be jealous if ur man gives more respect and love to another woman

    • @hurremsultanas

People don't understand nuance. Although I really disagee that Mahidevran suffered *more* than Hürrem given everything Hürrem wss put through (gaslighting, kids taken away, verbal harassment, Leo's death, people trying to kill her multiple times, the invalidation of her trauma etc. etc.)
And there is a very vocal contingent of toxic Mustafa fans who reduce Hürrem to the wicked stepmother cartoon villain trope thaat she is a subversion of)

@@hurremsultanas but we need to understand that hurrem was put through all of this because of her own actions ...i am not stating that she was entirely incorrect but we all are aware how she treated mahi with such arrogance and disrespect the moment she came in the palace......she tried to steal suleiman from mahi , wanted to be a sultan and mahi got treated bad from a concubine ...if anyone was seeing it being in the shoes of mahi they would understand my point....and also i am still not saying hurrem was wicked i am just trying to point out the double standards of people...also everyone was bound to be on mahi side since she was a part of ottoman family....if you were mahi i guess you would also want a support behind you....seeing perspective from hurrems point of you is okay but ignoring mahis perspective is not wise

@@black_ruby229 OK that's just victim blaming. Sorry. Mahi is understandable I agree even though she wasn't actually a Dynasty member but 'Hürrem brought it on herself' is victim blaming.

Atleast here Suleiman puts hurrem in her place and she can’t get way saying anything and everything.Poor mustafa small child and she heartlessly blames him for the fire.I like hurrem but being stronger doesn’t mean that one has to be mean to anything and everyone.
