    Ummm preachers and moralist emphasize that we should have " self interest "...he's just arguing semantics.... Adam Smith had to use these terms cuz people were using them and arguing that things like self interest were detrimental and therefore we needed to have government interference and man was harmful to eachother...so he said ok, fine self interest is a real thing but it can lead to beneficial outcomes for everyone.... If we remember to act on long term self interest especially....it's the short sighted short term instant gratification self interest that gets people into trouble... And ultimately can hurt both parties involved ...while long-term self interest pursuits can benefit all parties involved as well....

    If you're taking a dig at objectivism, you don't understand objectivism.
    Selfishness in objectivism refers to long term self interest.
    All your short term self interest circumventions are statist interventions, you proclaim states are necessary for market function, but also proclaim states circumvent the market. Duh.
