Emongg’s advice about not waiting for the perfect ult is so real. Ever since I realized how easily countered earthshatter is, I’ve gotten so much more value as Rein just solo shattering people who are annoying me

Shatter is just an ability with a longer cooldown. And after like 2 hyper aggressive shatters you can fake people out into thinking you have it and making them panic

That's reaper ult for ya, just the fourth ability on his quit. Getting a team kill with it is awesome yeah but making like a single dude or two chase you down thinking they'll be able to get you the second u get out of wraith form n then... DIE DIE DIE. Now that's fun.
When I heard "The other support was upset at me and the tank for pushing too far ahead" I was thinking they were payload princessing and complaining because the rest of the team wasn't doing the same.
Little did I know, they were the most aggressive member of the team, even moreso than the tank.
Why has it taken me so long to watch Emongg videos!? You are, BY FAR, the most helpful Overwatch youtube channel there is. Ow2 has been out long enough that I think even newcomers and bronzes understand how the roles work. Even some bronze supports understand that damage usually provides more value than healbotting

even using the fall back voice line!! took me a long time to start to do that.
This Kiriko did a great job! I think there's definitely more they can learn but they balanced healing and damage pretty well.
Also the tank being that aggressive on that OT attack was a great idea. They got so many staggers and took so much map control easily. Definitely dunno who would complain about their play, they did great in my eyes.
I think they especially did good for what rank they're in. I think they will climb out of bronze! They are definitely silver or gold. Bummer that they ended up decaying down to bronze.
Their placement was definitely better than bronze 5. Like after the "zoning" ult, when the rest of the team is pushing cart in overtime, they are standing a few feet away and use natural cover to shield them from the enemy team. That way they can heal the entire team without worrying about Hanzo/Ashe headshots.
Wow never thought I would see myself on one of these! Lostmind here! (Tracer, Ashe). I appreciate the kind words however I've been hard stuck bronze and there's much more stuff I could work on lol
Honestly, it really helped me to watch my games back a few times, look at the enemies pov to see how dumb I look trying to flank to figure out why it wasn't working.
Also try the other roles, it helps to realise how much I was pissing off my support
That other support is a hypocrite!!! They should not have been pushed so far up. My rule of thumb when I play Ana is to stay far enough away so that I’m not taking a significant amount of damage, but close enough so that if I need help, my teammates can get to me relatively quickly if I manage to land a sleep dart. At 7:50 they were literally on the payload with the tank. If they had been farther back, they would’ve been able to help the Cass. That’s also what got their Ashe killed. Ana got stuck by Tracer, and she was so close to the rest of the team that the Ashe died unnecessarily. The Kiriko was already pushed up helping the tank, Ana simply did not need to be so close to the team fight. They did this on every single hero they played. They also did not utilize cover at all…they got one shot multiple times while they were standing right next to a wall. They even ressed out in the open, if Kiriko didn’t cleanse it they definitely would’ve died! Standing out in the open is the fastest way to die in ow. It bothers me so much when players blame others on their team, meanwhile they are not playing nearly as well as they think they are. This Kiriko played very well for bronze! I was impressed with their suzu usage. I think once they work on their aim and ult timing, they could climb very easily.
Not done with the video but assuming it doesnt get substantially worse. as of 20 minutes in if you told me this kiriko was gold I'd 100% believe you. his only major problems are not knowing ult, aim and a little faster decision making on his abilities.

Kiri made a lot of great plays, but I also gotta hand it to her Tank. Did a fantastic job of creating space and making everyone else's job easier. Emongg saying Kiri should Swift Step more but she barely needed to.
Absolutely. And yeah, she didn't have the need to Swift Step that much, but I think Emongg's advice was more so that she could build a good habit of making use of an ability that has a short cooldown
overwatch is my first fps game as well, I started on console but I play on PC now and overwatch is one of my first games on PC. The transition was so hard for me cuz I usually play on just console but rn I'm doing pretty decent
yeah the transition from console to pc is really hard for me too. I'm so used to playing with a controller it still feels weird playing without one.
Yeah the closest to an fps game I played before overwatch was Star Wars battlefront. But I play on switch with a questionable usb controller

I'm only like 6 minutes in, but I am the kind of guy to play a Final Fantasy game and be like "maybe I'll need 50 megalixers for the final boss fight". I had to fight that urge in Overwatch to not save my big abilities. Now I just need to reign it back to learn when I actually need to save them

Always stockpile the megalixers for the perfect moment, never use them.
That's a good approach though. Some abilities are pretty intuitive on when you should use them (e.g. Ashe coach gun) and others aren't. Support abilities in particular have the "too good to use" effect.
I have some friends who are new and still pretty bad at the game. I tell them to use their abilities liberally. Sometimes, use them anytime they're up. Over time you'll just naturally pick up on when you used it effectively and when you didn't.
It's particularly problematic with high impact, long CD abilities.
If my brother picks Bap, which he likes to do, I tell him to throw Immortality field any time someone starts to get low in a teamfight. That ability in particular has such a long CD that there's this tendency to wait for the "perfect moment." In reality, you'll get more value if you use it more often, even if it doesn't actually save anyone and was a "wasted" use. In actuality, it is often just useful as a distraction, because the enemy has to switch focus to destroying the field.
It's almost worth thinking about that ability having two uses:
1. Saves your teammate(s) from death, especially against huge high damage AOE ults (Dva, Junk)
2. It's an additional 150HP team member that the enemy has no choice but to kill.

They seemed decent for a new player, I would be happy to have then in one of my games. I would love to see Emongg spectate some MH matches, they have such a weird dynamic. Metas don't matter, ult economy is different. There can be some rng stomps but find it more fun than other modes and you feel the effect of a good player more. Also people are just nicer overall.
I stopped playing qp and comp back in like 2017 or 18 because people would insta-lock everything except a healer, so that is all I got to play. That was fun for a bit but people shit on healers for their own lack of awareness or weak plays. I'm old not tryna raise my blood pressure with those tryhard chirren.
Dude, competitive mystery heroes is actually sweaty as hell! I was surprised. Started just for the gold gun points, but I stayed because it actually felt like a huge flex to raise my rank. It's one thing to get to your goal rank in role queue where you only need 2-4 heroes, but to get that rank in mystery heroes you have to be at least decent at EVERY hero. I wish the mode got more credit because it's honestly really fun and challenging. I once won a game where my team did not get a single healer for the first three fights, and on the fourth we got three tanks, a 76, and a sombra. That player was an absolute chad that just hacked every health pack on cooldown and kept us topped up like they were a support. Playing around health packs, we actually beat managed to beat that team who had two moiras and two ramattras. Insane!
I was in a QP match yesterday on this map. I was tanking on Orisa. The team was accusing me of diving. I admit I do that sometimes when I think the team is with me, and Orisa is a brawler. What was happening was the team was being distracted by a Sombra that kept getting behind them, but wasn't doing much. The Mei that was to my front was about 21 and 1 and the Sombra behind us was 5 and 4. What can I say, Quick Play.
Honestly just ignore ppl who complain in qp, they don’t know what fun is and have nothing better to do

I gotta say tho, just like widow, Sombra can get a lot of value from just existing. It causes your team to constantly look around and behind at all times basically and be out of the fight. But like the other people said it's quick play who cares.
Wow yeah as many have already said, this doesn't look like a Bronze 5 Kiriko. They definitely need to work on their cooldown usage/management, but overall this was really good. And their cooldowns weren't even that bad, just a little underutilizing Kitsune (and not the best angles), and a little POTENTIAL overuse of suzu at times (not having suzu for Tracer pulse bomb for example). Their APM (actions per minute) seems very good for a Bronze honestly. Compare their PoV to the Ana's for example, the difference is like night and day. This player will climb.

One of the hardest things is to allow yourself to make mistakes. It takes a lot of courage. Trying new things, new playstyles, not knowing if it will go well or if you'll fall flat on your face.
I think I understand why this guy held on to his ults for so long. When I was in bronze I got yelled at a lot for “wasting” my ultimates. Even though looking back now they weren’t wasted at all I just didn’t get a 5k with them lol
Her aim wasn’t even that bad, the few times that she went aggressive she actually got some nice headshots.
They been doin research, definitely watching ML7! So good for being new! Really good fight awareness, dodging damage and ducking cart, minus the ult thing, it was pretty good. Plays better than most bronze Kirikos I play with. I’m bronze, don’t judge 😂.
Something i noticed 8:46 This is the fight directly after the ana complained at the kiriko as they both went afk to type.
Kiriko is dueling the tracer in the backline right here, Queen is getting low and the ana is frontline DPS'in rather than healing the queen. Yes im pretty sure the queen got hit by hanzo and thats why they went from 50% to 0% so quick but the queen was half and the ana just did not care. The fight immediately after they complained about the kiriko pushing up too far with the tank.
Pretty solid for a new gamer. Another issue is they pretty much only heal the tank and then move onto the next thing when the tank is dead. I can see how this creates a lot of losses if matchmaker puts them onto a team where the other support also only heals the tank (this Ana for example).
This reminds me of a game in Hollywood that I grabbed ( zarya) the enemy Ana and mercy ( and killed them). Then my support complained that I didn't 5 grabbed.
he/she played really well, did not ego challenge the Hanzo, kept himself away from Hanzos LoS, was thinking maybe could be more aggro but then again not too much nice to peak against Hanzo, i think i saw 1 Suzu miss, did not hard focus anything kept awarness high, hits some Kunais! overall amazing good for new OW/FPS player.

An interesting thought... since sym teleport works on so many things, could a well placed sym tp extend the life of kitsune rush
People think ultimates should be all about using your ult to get as many value out of it by creating kills, but sometimes it shouldn’t work that way. Sometimes you get vague out of your ult by using it to heal people up, creating space and time, keeping yourself alive to hold the point.
Sometimes ults get wasted and that’s okay, you never know what you could cause by holding your ult so much. And legitimately, you build it up so fast lol

I think the kiri doesn't know that kitsune makes cooldowns go faster. If they did know, they would prob use kitsune more. But I am also a bronze kiri/ana main and it's great to learn this stuff

Had a Zarya that held used grav the first time 7 minutes into the match. It was one of those best of 5 koth, and she used it after we lost a teamfight, 3 people dead on our team, she hit one enemy with grav then immediately fell over. Good times in silver soloq :)
This is good awareness for a new player to ow, let alone fps. Of course they held ults to long in the beginning. But all said, I doubt they’ll be in bronze for long.
Just this caliber of gameplay can probably get you to low gold. Just avoid taking advice from fellow bronze players, like the one who said you are too aggressive.
I feel like support ults fall into 2 categories: save for a specific interaction (beat, trans, nano on specific occasions) or "If it's blue, HIT Q!" This Kiriko did an awesome job! Maybe be a little more conservative on when you use suzu? There were some times that suzu was used and then a better suzu situation happened right after, but honestly, kinda clean

ive noticed ana does highly focus on the damage in the enemy compared to healing the team
If Emongg reads these something that would help a lot and increase production value and understanding for the person being vod reviewed is having a program that allows you to draw over your screen so you can draw plays and positioning

I love the commentary. I’m stuck at gold 1, mostly due to our team’s synchronization more than anything. I’m spamming group up and fall back often, and mostly being ignored. Being support is difficult
as a support main, here's another way to think about it: are they not grouped up with you, or are YOU not grouped up with them? do they really need to fall back, or are you not willing to be aggressive with them and support the plays they're trying to make?
you aren't stuck in gold because of your teams, I promise. there will be games that you don't win because the team isn't clicking, absolutely. but assuming you're playing enough games to overcome the effect of randomness, your rank reflects your individual skill. the second you accept that is the second you really can start improving and popping off.
I climbed from silver (1600ish so low silver) to 2900 (almost diamond) in overwatch 1 as a mercy main solo queuing. I know how you feel. and I promise you that your rank is far more within your control than you want to believe.
@@sethescope Thanks for the tips! I’m usually try to adapt to how my team plays. I try to play towards the center of my team for this reason. I shift around decent healing until a team member dies because I couldn’t heal enough or they over extend. Then I begin to fall back a bit and try to get a pick when my teammates are healed.
If that fails and the fight is lost, I begin to withdraw calling the remnants of our team to fall back to regroup. I try to ensure safe passage for those closest while trying to create space for them.
This usually is Ignored by some and the die. That’s fine. I regroup in a safe area, but those who leave spawn charge into battle while two people are still spawning in. I call group up. Nothing.
I push up to provide heals, and sometimes it keeps them alive and I get a pick.
(I’m a Moira/Lifeweaver/Mercy main, but I do great healing and great damage as well. I play towards positioning and assisting back lines.)
But as the game progresses, the enemies sometimes begin targeting me first, probably because I am good at evasion😂😂 and will jump me without mercy. (No pun intended)
This specifically happens on point and cart when they push up to aggressively. Im left looking at a group of two or three attacking and I die.
It’s like small 1v1s keep breaking out after I’m dead.
I promise you, I’m very team oriented as I came to overwatch after losing interest in Paladins
Give up, and your future teams will never synchronise with you, so play for yourself.

Two, I think the complaints of pushing up were solely on the payload princess side of things early game. Because the ana was spamming the group up then. It's the old bronze players that don't watch videos (everyone should be on objective... you cap control you stand there and take a coffee break) vs the newer breed where sure they are bronze but they understand some of the fundamentals of overwatch vs other fps.

I honestly just feel like the other support was flaming kiri because they were kinda projecting cuuuz let's be honest, the thing they complained about was literally what they were mostly doing 😭plus they weren't getting like, full on rolled in team fights either so why are you flaming to begin with
also another thing to mention: gj on keeping the tracer at bay! no one other than cass [who was kind of failing over and over again] was looking at her, but they did a good job of dealing with her c:

bronze is hell. this poor guy is actually really decent at the game and i hope he can climb. his tank and other support are just mentally checked out half the time and it hurts to watch. mfs will be so confident but just turbo feed.

They actually did so good and the tank did good aswell. I main kiri/mercy and easily noticed bad and good things both supports did.
So they said there new to OW yet they have the kiriko mythic skin, which was season 3 so they’ve been playing 3 seasons roughly. I’d say that’s not new to ow which is why they play pretty well. Overall good job though

I really don't see anything they did wrong. everything was good but their ultimate and step used was lacking until late game but it was not bad.

Are you sure this is bronze 5? This kiriko just hasn’t played enough to climb/stabilize. They are better than their rank would imply.
Great job for a brand new player, use kitsune sooner to build more per game, swift step and wall run more for elusiveness, get the papers to 2 kunai then back to papers rhythm down and keep playing like you are and you won't stay in bronze 5 for long.
Tbh I used to play aggressive with ana but then again that was ow1 and she was a broken DPS at that point when she was released so I get their more mid ranged play style but I now just sit back behind everyone else and keep los on the team with a corner so I can peak at the other team for kills
would be cool if the that would have a transparent background so we can see the abilities and all, good vid tho

The Kiriko is better than 99% of healers in Diamond lobbies
Too many "gamers" hard focus on 100% value, and not what the potential of something could be. Especially in low/mid tiers, if your ult isn't "1000000000000%," value, then they pretend it's a bad ult.
Maybe the ana was angry cuz you were focusing on the tank which arguably ana (the hero not the player) is suppose to be good at and the dps you should focus

One thing you learn from lower elo lobbies
You won’t get damage boosted as often on bastion so don’t even expect it
Looks better than most silver kirikos that I get matched with (other than aim)
I always heal my other supports but that is not something ive seen a lot of them do, they always leave me alone, if we're both fighting for our lives i die healing them while they try to kill the other person when theres no way to kill them

I recently started maining Ana the last two seasons and watching this I gotta say that Ana's positioning is BAD. Like free kills kinda bad. Positioning is everything with Ana and if you don't learn it you will be punished.

@@AMIRISGONE I think being surprised or shocked by it is silly, tbh. people have actively and intentionally chosen to watch a video about bronze players. bronze players aren't "good" at the game yet. they're learning. when people are learning something, they aren't good at it. they are going to do things that people who are good at something wouldn't do. that's how learning ANYTHING works. being surprised that someone who isn't great at the game makes not ideal decisions is ridiculous.

A good tip for this new player maybe playing as a more aggressive hero... to help with their playstyle when coming back to Kiri. I would recommend Torbjorn as his alt fire at close range can really help with being a difference maker when the fight is happening. + turret which you can set up farther away and you can work on different distances. (just a suggestion. I think this Kiri just needs a bit more OW2 play )

@@AMIRISGONE I am now a flex support, I started with Torbie and his appropriate play style (which is not hanging with your turret generally) is awesome for understanding the game and long range short range approach, especially with his alt fire... again I am now a different type of player than I was when starting. I think Torb just can be great for new players trying to understand the game/roles. He's also sooo good. (biased I know. lol. I rarely ever Hammer, I stupidly using my claw, defo something I need to remember with torbyorb.)
Ah yes, just swap from support to DPS in the middle of a match. Like that's totally possible.

overwatch is my first and only fps because I think fps games are generally very boring. so it's not a bad choice for a first one when it's the only one worth someone's time. don't get me wrong, it's fine to like fps games/the genre in general. it's also fine to only care about overwatch.
for context, I'm not the kiriko. I'm just also someone who doesn't play other fps games.
