    I just got 2 doorbells and the outdoor camera with solar! I am a mom of two younger ones ages 6&9 they play with kids from the building and from the neighborhood on the porch and in the back yard ! I’m a helicopter mom and don’t allow my kids out of my site at any time ! This year I have decided with how responsible they are that going outside should be allowed without mom ! This gives me the ability to watch them and monitor them as well as speak to them when needed ! I have been loving blink and the night time view can be adjusted and is absolutely clear as day !! The camera Quality is AMAZING ! Even on the doorbells I can see everything crystal clear and have no issues !! I love blink and it helps this momma and her kids have peace of mind!!

    The Blink app will notify the homeowner to replace a camera's batteries long before the camera fails to function. Therefore, a failed cam because of dead batteries would be OPERATOR ERROR.

    I don't personally agree with your video review, I've had blink for a year now and the batteries are still going in all my devices even with settings at full. Also night vision can be adjusted to which you didn't even bother to mention! If you have an outside light that is also motion detection it's pointless having night vision activated on the camera lol. Blink is still allot cheaper than most and quality for me has always been Fantastic. Don't let this appalling review put you off. 😁👍

    I just bought the Blink doorbell bundle with doorbell, sync module, and indoor camera for $59 on Cyber Monday. I'll be replacing a Eufy doorbell which only got to about a month before needing recharging.
    One of the things I like in my case is that the Blink can be used with battery or I can hard wire it eventually.
    I currently have XT 2's, so I'm grandfathered in to the cloud storage. it's a no brainer to get this system.

    All you have to do is click the camera icon on the right of the camera and it takes a new pic to use for the camera profile. I am so glad I watched this because I will know not to depend on you for honest opinions. You also said the module was 50 dollars. Again wrong. I bought my bell for 59 and it came with the sync module. All i had to do is throw a thumb drive in. I also bought an extra dorr bell without module for the back door. On sync module runs 10 things. The door bell alone was 39. Today fedex dropped off a package and she was talking on her phone. The camera was so clear I could hear both sides of her phone conversation. I also have indoor and outdoor blink cams and I appreciate that they offer top quality hardware for affordable prices. You also said it only does a 30 second clip. It offeres continious recording instead of stop and go. The rechargable batters would require us to change and charge 6 times a year. However, the throw aways give you 2 years on low use. 1 year on all out use. Did you say anything good about this video. The only thing I got from this video of yours is that 1. You did not do your homework and really do not know much about the camera.
    2. Is another company paying you to dammage the competition. This is such an obvious smear campaign. Amazon should block and ban you for slander.

    Well someone probably already mentioned this to this time but those are not ordinary AA batteries...it's Lithium with life expectancy up to 2 years... I have one over a year and never replaced batteries yet.
    Because I have Blink for years I didn't know that now they charge for cloud storage. Which makes sence.

    If I don't want to save any videos to the Cloud and just use it to see who's at the door, do I still need to subscribe to the app to make it work?

  • @MaNameizJeff
    @MaNameizJeff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You have a lot of negativity about surface nickle and diming, but totally fail to relise that a) you don't need a subscription, you just need a sync module, b) every other god damn video doorbell DOES need a subscription, c) try coupling it with outdoor blink cameras which also all come with a sync module, and lastly d) adding and inflating the price of a USB drive is just being a dick. Imo the blink cameras are amazing value for being affordable and offering local storage with no subscription and this doorbell is a great addition. The only disappointment is the reliance on lithium AA batteries. They do last a long time on them but I hate using single charge batteries. Maybe there is a rechargable lithium pack solution available that can clip onto the battery contacts inside.

    I'm going to start of by saying I'm not employed by blink or Amazon.
    I didn't know it will use my existing dots and shows as chimes. That is good. I think the prime target at the $59 CDN ( with no module ) is for existing customers.
    This below is a comment I left on another reviewers video.
    I will start off. I am grandfathered in. So the doorbell is a bonus for me.
    You can hard wire the XT2 with a after market cable. I did that with my front door. As it gets the most action. It then plugs into a USB plug. I think the doorbell is a delayed covid release. And I think over the holidays they are clearing it out. And you will see a new model that can be hard wired similar in the new year.
    Also, I think the doorbell is still useful. As a secondary camera. Not as the front door. But as a side doorbell. Either on a garage when you are in their working. Or On a back gate. In a lower traffic area. Say, you are in your back yard. And order pizza. When you order you give instructions where to go. And they ring that doorbell.
    Similar, people in town house style condos. With fenced back yards. Again, as a way for people to contact you without yelling up.
    And even people in apartments. You can turn the motion sensitivity off. Have it mounted to your side of your door. And view who is there.
    In all these cases. At the low price. I think it's a win. It's not just home owners that want to view who's at their door.

    You say you don't like Blink because of the subscription (among other things), but then recommend Ring where you can't view any past events without a subscription and already cost $100? I'll say this much, I liked being able to see the features in your review, just don't understand your basis for the conclusion. I took this away as far as Ring vs Blink: Don't want a subscription? Blink is the better option at roughly the same price to be able to save videos. I'm ok with this. It's an extra level of security, I don't need 4k video. Want the best clarity and don't mind paying a few bucks a month? Stick with Ring. Personally, I'll always go with the subscription-less plan even if it cost a little more up front because it'll be cheaper if I have the device for even a few years, or in this case right out of the gate. I'll check out Eufy though, hadn't given them much more than a passing glance.

    • @SteveDOES
      @SteveDOES  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Cody, great point. I think it's because Blink used to be a good subscription free option and Ring has always been subscription based, so i had set expectations. Now that Blink is subscription based, i don't think it ecosystem stacks up wells to Rings. As for Ring, i like their ecosystem but, i think their cameras are just ok. They're in need of an update.

    I got one with sync module for Xmas with my Alexa Dot, and I'm on the fence if I should open it up and even bother with it. It doesn't sound like a well thought out or tested system with all the kinks worked out yet.. considering how long they have been around. About the only feature it has that I like is it uses the Alexa's as chimes; I don't need any of the video features.
    Is there just a plain doorbell button that does nothing more than chime the Alexas?
    I'm tempted just to buy a dumb doorbell and hardwire it in. Something that always works without cloud or internet or anything, you push the buzzer and it buzzes.. with a bell to ring as a backup if the power is out.... In fact, maybe I just go with a cowbell and a string that always works, even in an apocalypse scenario.. just as good or better than a knock on the door.

    I, much like many others am not grandfathered in. Good on you that you were part of the pilot launch, but I don’t think that $100 a year is a bad price for a year of cloud storage of 1080p. However I am more concerned that I can add this unit to my doorbell and basically, it does not use the power of the doorbell to power the camera. That to me is a problem. If the doorbell dies, does the chime to my door stop working? Also, what kind of notification do I get when it stops?
    I am still thinking about getting it but these issues are giving me some pause. Lastly, I would like to know the real features of the doorbell. I heard the ring can mute your doorbell so if there is a visitor during nap time it won’t ring. I don’t know if this is a feature of the blink doorbell or not. If you have time actually do a real review instead of just ranting that they made changes to the subscription model, I would love to watch that video from start to finish.

    The Blink system is old technology, much better options with higher resolution, AI detection, thumbnail, longer recording times, pre motion recording etc. Before buying Blink consider Ring, Reolink, Eufy, Arlo and so on.

      @mstinamichele 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    $270 for a set of
    3 outdoor blink cameras
    1 Doorbell blink camera
    1 indoor blink camera
    1 Module 2nd gen
    Just bought it this month March 2024
    They work great
    Blinks plus subscription for $100 a year for the equipment

    • @JoseHernandez-by7yd
      @JoseHernandez-by7yd 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The subscription of blink plus for $100 a year is good for all the cameras I have. witch is about $8 & 30cents per camera a year that’s only if you buy the blink plus subscription
      If you get the normal one is more expensive $3 a month per camera for 12 months equals $36…..for me 5 cameras at $36 on the standard plan will be $180 a year
      That’s why I bought the plus witch is $100 if you pay in full and is good for my 5 cameras and I can add more with the same blink plus subscription of $100 a year paid in full

    Wow i am surprised at how bad that night time footage is. There is no way you would be able to identify an unknown person when the image is blown out by overpowering Infra red. All that you will know is that there is a person there. Shame.

    They have to tell you adjustments will effect battery life or people would turn everything to max then be be stunned and complain that the batteries don’t last long. Same reason they have to print on plastic bags that you shouldn’t put on child’s head. Can’t fix stupid.

    Blink lost me as a potential customer as soon as you showed the comparison between NO SUBSCRIPTION/$3 MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION/$10 MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION. This is now the same BS subscription nonsense as my "failed-to-work-out-of-the-box-THREE-TIMES " POS Arlo doorbell. Keeping my 50 y.o. old school doorbell and a peep hole in the door.

    I bought this because of the price and while it was on its way I thought I might as well get a camera so now I have the camera coming got the doorbell today and I went online to see how or the best way to set it up I looked at the video above yours and I thought no I don’t want to watch this I want to see what you have to say and I watched your video and I am shock I don’t want to send it all back because I sent two things back this week already that I bought a vita mix attachment and a piece of furniture and I feel like a jerk because I know they’re going to the warehouse so now I feel obligated to keep my little blank and I don’t want ring because I just don’t like it I have a friend that has itAnd see how easy it is for other people to attach to it. So I guess I’m gonna have to buy all the other garbage to go with it more money oh well

    Its on sale for $35 right now! Ring is the same monthly. $3 is not bad for home security & IMO these are better & easier to set up then any security camera. I added one on my back porch. You could use in a room as security camera, traveling, etc. The wide angle is amazing, night vision is amazing. I think its $10 for ring on blink unlimited cloud. These are great hidden cams and so reasonable!
